Logan first replied was a silence, still smoking but not speaking. He didn’t deny the fact that yes he remembered but almost ignored the stupid question. And iif Hank could be an idiot, he did steal him a smile by sharing this memory. “Told ya that one day we’ll be friends.” He finally managed to say and sighed. “You sound older than me bub.” And more nostalgic than him. “The kids don’t need to know. This world is shitty enough to also share a possible fucking future.”

Hank laughed and put a hand on Logan’s shoulder. “You were such an ass then, and still are, don’t worry , we’ll stay friends for a long time. “ Hank scratched behind his ear. “Yeah...I sound like that cause someone needs to be the adult.” he nudged him. “That’s what Charles said as well, and I don’t plan on telling them as much, they had enough with this crisis.”

Logan sat down next to his friend, not sharing a look nor a word. Yes, Hank sort of surprised him when the old man arrived and thinking of it, Logan found a mental small and short smile. Because of course when everything and everyone looked different, triggering all sort of bad feeling, a place like this was helping, it was reassuring, a constant. Sat down, Logan took a cigar from his pocket and lighted it on, smoking as his usual, but behind the habits, Logan was different, he couldn’t constantly hide it, he was trying in front of the kids but he came here to especially drop the mask so Hank could see how the man was tired, looking older despite his mutation, an old man with some broken eyes, those ones lifeless than the usual.

Hank sat back a bit , simply looking a head. He figured he would show up, never doubted it duh. He still hated the smell of cigar, but for once didn’t comment on it. “So , you remember , huh ? “ Hank finally spoke up. After years of keeping that secret, of meeting Logan once again, he was glad they had become friends. He couldn't help but giggle. “Oh man, remember when I opened that door ? Asked you if you were a parent ...you said sure as hell hope not ....look at us now. ... those damn kids”

It seemed forever ago when he was younger and helping Charles out to save the future. Much like his friend, he had kept this secret a secret for the longest time, pretending not to know Logan, pretending that they never interacting until the day they officially met. He had always felt guilty about lying to him, mostly because he believed that friendships should be built on honesty. Then the war came, they fought, they lost, then won. Terrible things happened to their community , thinks that worried him much. Made him think a lot as well. He was sitting at his spot, or well their spot if you considered that it was the spot he and Logan used to get away from the world. Somewhere between the Canadian and American Border. It was quiet and more importantly away from everything. He had secretly hoped that coming here after the end of the war, he would stumble on Logan ... it has been two days ...

“I think it could if it wanted to, but our very chore nature is to like and seek violence, and what you project into the world is what you get in return. I want to see a positive outcome in all of this, but truth be told, maybe we were born to suffer and then go instinct ...it happened before with australopithecus”

“You’re such jerks!” she said, quickly spitting out the pieces of cake that she had ingested. Thankfully she only had a little bit of the cake, but still she was sure the damage was done. “Why would you do that?!”

“It’s a tradition” he chuckled and truly, couldn’t really stop laughing. A big fat guttural laugh , he slammed the table which almost cracked.

He thought he was going to slam him for losing kids , but no hit came. Instead, he felt the pressure of a hug and understood. He never said anything, but it was a hug that actually meant a lot to him, a way of knowing Logan wasn’t that mad at him, just worried.
