i think its reductive to try and cleanly map all of the characters onto each other BUT i do think its interesting how we get some of the strongest foils in utena-juri and anthy-nanami because this also corresponds to two of the most central themes in the show: queerness and incest.

off of the top of my head, the longest sustained static shots we get are the beats of silence with the roses in the corner before the "just kidding" lines in her tragedy, the akio pov shots in the prince who runs through the night, and the zoomed out shot we get of ruka forcefully kissing juri before she shoves him off in azure paler than the sky. i believe the score cuts out in most of them to leave just silence/breathing/talking too. interesting how all of these deeply uncomfortable moments are conveyed as such with this almost sterile visual language.
