These Babes are Moving!
I will be moving my muses from here over to @twentysomethingbeliever sometime tonight tor tomorrow, because I’m actually active over there and I miss theses babes. If you’re interested, follow me over there and I’ll be posting a starter call for the transfers soon.
“I’m sorry.” He muttered when she seemed to look somewhat disappointed he had forgotten. So he put his finger under her chin to make her look up at him. “I promise I will make it up to you tonight okay?” He smiled whilst wrapping her up in his muscular, tattooed arms. “I hope so. I will try to not say anything weird.” Somehow she had stuck around despite him sometimes blurting some weird things out. “By the way.” He released her and revealed and envelope. “Remember that apartment we bid on? Well we can get the keys tomorrow to it.” Both liking some company every now and then around them, they had figured to become roommates. Either of their apartments were just too small unless they would sleep in one bed or one on the couch.
“It’s okay.” She shrugged and smiled at him. “You’ll be fine as long as you don’t mention the apartment because that’s only going to make my dad think things that will not make him like you.” Sydney raised an eyebrow and tried to make it clear what she was implying.
“Okay okay. I will give it a shot. I really thought you meant some cat cafe.” He mumbled the last sentence, his lips curled up lightly to the side whilst he looked towards her. “And she is a regular cat?” How they had several discussions about cats and dogs and how he always had claimed dogs were better. “Do I need to dress up?” He wondered, somewhat nervous to meet her family, he never had despite their friendship for quite a long time. “You think your family would like me tho?” He wondered, looking somewhat unsure her way.
“I told you about where I work before. Don’t tell me you really thought I was talking about normal cats when I talk about work.” He wouldn’t have been the first person to forget that she works with wild animals, but she thought he’d remember. “No, Lynn is a clouded leopard. And you need to wear something kind of nice, but not super nice, alright?” She told him while she thought for a second about her family and shrugged. “It’s just going to be my dad and he’ll probably like you just fine.”
His lips pursed, head nodding at the new information. “Well I mean I kinda figured that, but you never know.” He quipped, “I mean I’ve heard of some of those places like training them and what not, but regardless it sounds like fun.” And something that the mage was actually looking forward to for once in his meek life. The joys of being seemingly normal had been fading for months, but if Riki was able to come up with fun little things like that, maybe he could enjoy life a bit more. He peered around in his seat, turning slightly to look out the back window. “Just circle around, should be fine.” He chuckled out, “Unless you’re planning on killing me in a field somewhere and this was all a ploy?” And with that, he found himself laughing.
“If I wanted to kill you in a field or something don’t you think I would have already done it by now?” She huffed, annoyed that she had to pull a u-turn to get back on track. “And the place Syd works doesn’t believe in training animals. Though they do have a tiger that was rescued from a magic act who sort of just randomly does old tricks he was taught. It’s cute, but also kind of sad because he wasn’t treated well.”
He rose an eyebrow but smirked however towards the brown haired girl in front of him. “Sydney.. You know how badly I despite cats.” He started, somehow he couldn’t find the joy and nice in them. But her putting up some puppy eyes made him sway - as always. “Don’t look like that! You know I can’t say no to that!” He laughed and shut his eyes, but even then he could still sense her looking the same. “Oh for sakes.” For a moment he doubted before he opened one eye before the other. “Alright I will go with you.. But only because it’s you!”
“Come on, don’t be like that,” Sydney shoved his shoulder, but smiled because at least he’d agreed to go. “It’s not like they’re regular cats or anything. How can you despise leopards and jaguars? You haven’t even met Lynn yet and she’s the sweetest thing.” She was sure once she got him to the party and showed him the animals she loved so much that he’d change his mind.
“Lions?” Okay, she definitely had his interest now. Already, the mage’s imagination was running wild about what the event would entail. “Yeah, I don’t think I could be bored with that.” He confirmed with a chuckle as the car began to move. “Sounds fun, no doubt.” Colin quipped, “What all happens though? Do you like get to pet ‘em or feed ‘em?”
“Mostly it’s just a party, but early on in the evening they do a tour of the animals cages and they give them toys so they’re extra playful. Last year, I did get to feed a leopard, but we aren’t allowed to pet them because they are wild animals.” she explained, looking back at the street they had just passed. “Shoot, I think that was our turn.”
Colin felt a grin slip across his lips at her words. “I guess so!” He echoed, though this time more vibrant than the last. He settled into his seat, throwing on the safety belt and getting adjusted for the ride ahead. “Thursday night?” A chuckle pushed out into the air, “Depends, what does this open house thing entail? I mean, I might be bored by going with you there. Might as well be bored at my place.” Though the blond was only teasing of course. If Riki had somewhere to go, he was normally determined to join along.
Riki checked her makeup in the rear view mirror before adjusting it, chuckling as she did so. “My friend works at a big cat rescue, so I don’t know about you, but I doubt I’ll be bored standing a few feet away from a lion.” She replied as she pulled her car out of the parking spot and onto the street. “I haven’t been there since lat year, but if it’s half as fun you won’t regret going.”
“We’re having a friends and family night at the cat sanctuary, so I was wondering if you wanted to come and meet the cats and my coworkers and all that.”
Her small frown made him feel slightly uneasy for a moment, but luckily it vanished in a flash. “I guess so.” Colin teased before stepping out the door behind her, turning the lock before trailing off to follow towards her car. Of course, old Sally was a bit of an oxymoron, but he wasn’t one to judge or anything. “As sweet as that is, I don’t really go anywhere.” At least not anymore. Maybe if they had run into each other a year back he would have enlisted her help, but the Bronco was running fine at that time and being a detective met he needed a car. Now a days though, the mage didn’t wonder much farther than a block away. “I mean,” He slipped into the passengers seat, “I basically only eat, sleep, and work. Living right above your job makes things simple, but boring sometimes.”
“Right, then I guess once again you’re lucky you’ve got me around. Now that I know you’re bored, I'll have to come drag you out to open mic nights and such more often, won’t I?” She asked, opening the driver’s side door and getting in. Riki could be selfish at times, but she also cared about making the people around her happy. “Like, what are you doing Thursday night? There’s this cool open house thing at my friend’s job.”
The blond didn’t believe her words for a second. But, instead of pressing into the matter, he simply gave a shrug of his shoulders and watched as she dug into her purse. Last thing the mage wanted to do was ruin their evening together before they had ever walked out the door. “Yours.” Colin remarked without missing a beat, already stepping around the blonde and making his way towards the door. “Mine’s in the shop and probably not going to make it back alive.” He grumbled; another problem on his list of many.
Riki frowned for a moment when Colin mentioned his car, but almost instantly she plastered a smile back on her face. “Then you’re lucky that you’ve got me and trusty old Sally, huh?” She asked, following him to the door, walking out before him, because ladies first. Pulling her keys out of her purse, she unlocked her car, a little blue Ford Focus that was not by any definition of the word ‘old’. She wasn’t one to boast about having money, but she knew she was more well off than most of her friends. “If you need a ride or whatever, you know you can call me, right?”
“Warn me about what?”
Max took a deep breath, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I always feel so stupid saying this; I’m not real good at being touchy or affectionate. I know that sounds kind of cold, but I just- I dunno, I’m just not.”
“Ohhh ok, I understand,” Nikoli said with a small sigh, shoulders sagging, “I mean, I don’t get diets, personally, but I understand why you can’t interrupt it, is there anything you CAN have that’s sweet on a normal day? Like… something low-calorie or…?”
Riki shook her head. “No. Not unless you count fruit, which I do, but my roommate says I’m crazy.”
