this should make you angry. children in gaza have been out of school for a whole year and will be out of school as long as the israeli invasion continues. palestinian children live in flimsy tents which do not offer them any protection from the heat/cold. they travel long distances to search for water. they are threatened by water-borne diseases and skin infections that are running rampant in gaza.

no aid has been allowed in gaza since may. there is a shortage of everything from food to medicine to blankets to tents. this means that prices for everything have gone up.

it has become very expensive to survive in gaza. heavy rains followed by the winter are fast approaching. a tent does not offer much protection against the elements.

help alaa [ @alaakh998 ] buy supplies for the winter and medicine for her son who is suffering from a skin infection. she has two children aged six and four. she needs to ensure their safety and welfare and it cannot be done without your help.

Hello again! A few snippets from Melisende, my language commonplace book. I have two notebooks for languages, Meli and Byron (Meli keeps practical and linquistically relevant information, word lists, tips and so forth and Byron keeps the actual brunt work of grammar and listening/written practice). I'll share Byron another time. She is not a weeks, I don't think hobonichi makes plain notebooks in that particular size which is why I searched for this one specifically. It "fits" with the information easier in my head- so I dip into this one for languages. For anything definition related, they go into Mnemosyne (I have a few cards dedicated to her). She's a tiny moleskine xs notebook for grabbing definitions on the go, but as I'm copying out entire word lists- index cards work fine until I archive them in her. I may migrate Mne into a larger book as etymology is one of my interests but etymology for english versus any other language I'm perusing must be separated. I have quite a few notebooks for the subjects I like- as I fixate on those subjects in rotating amounts while also desiring to grab general information both spooky and non-spooky for my main two books; Constantine and Agharta. I'll have them all set up together one day as I think it's funny how many books I have- but when you really want to know...everything you can about particular subjects, a single book really won't cut it- as in my mind, Constantine is for passing "fun to know" tidbits, articles, posts and ideas from others. If I want a health related article, lecture snippet, new piece of research- I can find it all in my health book (Vix). I suppose that may only make sense to me to have so many, but they are all very much loved and used in varying amounts. The passport TN in the corner houses some of my pocket notebooks but they are not archival like my large commonplace books, they are portable and beautiful in their own right- but they're also (like my index cards) for collecting information outside of my home to eventually reevaluate and sow into my large books. So I have a set of large books that are permanent, pocket notebooks that are semi-permanent, and an index card system (modded from the zettelkasten method) that is very fluid that can stand alone but is also to be added to my permanent books- don't know if this will vibe with anyone else but given how many things I am interested in- it makes perfect sense to me after I discovered a better layout with which to approach commonplacing! I believe all of this combined is called a Personal Knowledge Management System (PKMS for future posts) and the varied subjects, housing for information and solid formatting has made mine come together after years of being in and out of impermanent systems. I really have to give it to Hozier, who is usually so liberal with his use of allegory, but is as direct as possible with his communication of violence in Butchered Tongue. I think many people cannot conceptualize the degree of violence that came (comes...) with colonization, and the legacies it leaves.

The fact that he sings that the young men are buried without scalp "in the shattered bedrock of our home" - the depth with which he communicates the echoes of genocide and generational trauma makes my heart ache. And the fact that he lists the Indigenous names of places in the United States, Australia and Ireland in the first verse???

He's not shy about saying it with his chest about current oppression, either - he talks about the right to protest, collective action and liberating Palestine at every one of his concerts. If there's one thing the Irish are going to do, it's show solidarity.

This is absolutely my favourite song on the album.
