She hadn’t really done anything bad yet, on the contrary, she had been going about things quite peacefully lately. Her afro of a partner had chilled out immensely compared to his original constant state of panic, frustration, dislike of his overall situation— so as a result, Kagura was rather calm too. It seemed like many people here were learning to deal with the situation too, and as a result there was much more peace and less stressful shouts and yells in the air. Rather, it was just conversation everywhere, people curious about their situation and trying to rationally plan a way out— and while this didn’t apply to all of them, a good majority of the residents of this strange new facility were keeping the peace, and it showed with the sheer lack of destruction and burns and overall, While, Kagura presumed, that this would make for better peace in the facility— she was completely and utterly bored.
Kagura was a kid, only in her early teens. As a result, she was always on the search for adventure. And in this instance, she found said adventure with her umbrella, trying her best to balance different things she saw around her on it while grinning, laughing happily to herself and completely unaware of anyone else in the little area she had found her spot. When he spoke up, she jumped a little, dropping the ball she was balancing and watching it roll away sadly before turning to look at the offender of it’s tragic fall.
❝Hey, that’s mean, aru! It’s called having fun, you know? You should learn how to do it, or else you’ll get permanent wrinkles on your face from scowling like that! People will think you’re an old man forever, even if you aren’t even an adult!❞
▪「 ★ ▬ Shinn wouldn't normally care about the amount of noise a teenager was creating. Heck, he would have probably encouraged her by remaining silent and allowing her to do as she pleased. In a world full of turbulence and chaos, it would undoubtedly bring him joy to find out that there were still youngsters who lived their life with a bright smile on their face. Smiles he was desperately attempting to prevent from falling into the clutches of war and conflict. Unfortunately, the young soldier's bitter mood overrode his mind and he was more concerned over the lack of silence in this damn facility.
"You're the one causing way too much damn noise." A grunt escaped his lips as he tightened his fists, irked by her light response to being entrapped in a foreign area. "Does this look like the time to be having fun?!" The scowl on his face deepened he shot her a glare filled with outrage. "We're not here for a damn picnic if you can't tell." The young pilot could sense that she wasn't a naive teenager from the way she snapped at him, which only incited more confusion to appear inside his heart. Shinn failed to understand how she was able to smile despite being locked against her will.
"Who cares if I do get wrinkles and who cares about what other people think." As if he had time to be concerned over other people's opinions towards him. It would be false to say that his attitude towards others didn't cause him tremendous problems. Refusing to listen to the voices of the people surrounding him, he was the type of individual who would continue to adamantly walk down the path he believed was correct. "I'll do whatever I want."
❜ 一 instability.
Well now, that certainly was a surprise. Mami’s lips pulled into a smile as Shinn spoke. At least he hadn’t completely lost hope. “I’m glad you see it that way. Please try to keep your spirits up in the future.” Mami paused before laughing softly to herself. “If I’m completely honest, it looked like you had already given up when I saw you.” The blonde was relieved to say the least. Despair meant that Witches were nearby. As long as she didn’t have to fight, she could keep her powers a secret. Almost unconsciously, the teen began twisting the ring that held her Soul Gem in thought. As time went on, wouldn’t it be more difficult to keep her identity a secret? And on top of that, she needed Witches to fight…
Shinn’s voice catapulted the female from her thoughts. For a moment, she seemed taken aback before smiling to herself. “A representative? Someone like me? No, I’m too young for something like that. I’m not bred for such a life, either. No, I’m just someone who protects my city.” That was all she really needed to say. Mami got the impression that Shinn wasn’t one to pry. Even if he did, there was little chance she’d actually tell him. Mami might have reflected on these ideas more if it wasn’t for the sudden change in the male’s eyes and body language. He seemed furious - unhealthily so. Mami took a deep breath before shaking her head with a small smile. “I doubt we’re lab rats. As I said before, perhaps we were meant to be here. Maybe there’s something we need to do and that’s why we were brought here.” He needed to be calmed. That rage could only be his undoing…
A soft, gentle smile showed itself on Mami’s lips. “After all, if I hadn’t been brought here, I wouldn’t have met you. That’s something good, isn’t it?” Checking the kettle, Mami took a deep breath before settling on some simple sandwiches that would pair well with tea. By the time Shinn had spoken again, Mami was already in the process of making them. “You didn’t hear anything just now.” She chirped the words cheerfully, doing her best not to let him see how nervous she’d become. “You don’t have any preferences? Nothing you like or dislike? Even a soldier can dislike things.”
▪「 ★ ▬ "I don't need you to tell me that. I'll always pull through no matter what happens." The tone he adopted while responding to her was condescending and arrogant, but it emulated how much confidence he had in himself. However, it was perhaps a little too much faith for his own good. "I would never give up." A small frown appeared on his face, suggesting he was slightly offended by her accusation. The mere notion of giving up was enough to injure his pride as a soldier; but he didn't have the heart to get mad at her. Gentle smiles had a soothing effect on him, and the young girl's smile was definitely tender enough. "I was just frustrated because I've been trying to find a way out of this place." The vexing feeling in his chest stemmed from the lack of results. He simply couldn't find an exit no matter how hard he tried.
"It's not uncommon for there to be young representatives." Although, upon further inspection, she did appear to be far too young to be in charge of a whole country. "... I see. I guess it's similar to what I do." Her assumptions about him were correct. Even though his honed instincts could detect that she was not feeding him the whole truth, he had no intention of prying it out of her. They were mere strangers. It was none of his business. "Not lab rats?" The anger clouding his red eyes reflected the rage his partner's calm emotions were trying hard to suppress. "That is exactly what they think of us. Why else would they brand our wrists and lock us up in here? Those damn sick bastards..." Her words didn't effectively calmed him down, but he managed to calm down easily because of the tranquil aura seething through his brand and into his body. If it wasn't for his partner, he would have lost his temper even more.
Startled by her unexpected response, surprise washed over his entire face. "Eh? ... Ah. Well..." Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he averted his gaze out of embarrassment. Her response was far too straightforward for someone as socially awkward as him. To prevent himself from becoming anymore embarrassed than he already was, he quickly switched to a different topic. "If you say so." Shinn gave a light shrug. "Not really. I just eat whatever I'm given. The only thing I need everyday is coffee. It helps keep me awake and alert."

▪「 ★ ▬ Shinn's attempt to get a good night's rest was wasted because he didn't get a wink of sleep. No matter how much he tried to get his body and mind to relax, it remained alert and vigilant. Being surrounded by people he didn't recognize; people he didn't trust had adverse effects on the young soldier. Raising his red eyes, he glanced at the beds belonging to his roommates and partner. Even though they all shared a common desire to return back to their own lives, he had difficulty putting his faith in them and believing that they would never harm him. After all, his partner had already harmed him despite being physically and mentally connected to Shinn. Grabbing the red jacket seated on his bedside, he buttoned the jacket on before grabbing his deceased sister's phone.
The pilot would normally leave the memento behind in his room; but his lack of trust prevented him from doing so. Shifting his gaze to look at the phone, he tightened his grip as his brows furrowed in determination. His sister's phone was something he couldn't afford to lose no matter what. Shinn shoved the phone in his pockets. It was much safer with him. The lack of sleep didn't greatly affect him since he was a soldier. It was common for him to remain awake for a long period of time and continue fighting despite being fatigued. However, he constantly needed coffee to rejuvenate his body. Exiting his room with the intention to visit the kitchen, he was shocked and horrified by the sight before him.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
A scowl appeared on his face as he pointed at the stranger walking around without his pants on. "Do you have a damn screw loose or something?!" As expected, he didn't even hesitate to insult the teenager. "There are children here and they - I definitely don't want to see some idiot roaming around without his pants!"
⋞✪⋟——Aw, they’ve only just met and they’re already into the pet names! Great! "Hah, calm down, why don’tcha?"
E-ki gave a collected smile and patted the other boy on the shoulder. "If you don’t want it I’ll gladly take it."
▪「 ★ ▬ "Shut up." Shinn shot him a glare before responding in an irritated tone. "Don't tell me what to do." He didn't hesitate to coldy brush the stranger's hand off his shoulder. "Do whatever you want with it. I don't care."

|| | ☆ *✧₊ Wide eyes filled with wonder scanned the scenery, her gaze set upon every little thing, every bit of detail. Her smile, one that had stretched from ear to ear, didn’t seem to lose its brightness anytime soon. With a step and a hop, a little hum from here to there, the girl made her way around the outside.
When Alluka Zoldyck first awakened, a small burning in her wrist that gave her quite a fright, she immediately went off to search for her brother. She needed him in this time of need. The brother that had promised to free her, the brother who kept his promise and gave her an expanse past the boundaries of her playroom, the brother she truly dearly loved like no other.
What made her think going outside the housing areas alone was a good idea is still a mystery: just imagine the dangers and strangers she could encounter.
But enough of that! She’s outside! And the outside had never been more beautiful! The being inside of her was in awe as well, urging to see more.
Her departure and adventure led her everywhere: from the dorms to the rec room to the courtyards, leading her to a lake, a rather disheartening lake at that. It didn’t look as though anyone would be swimming in it anytime soon. Even so, she wanted to take a closer look.
Poking her head through a couple of bushes, she hadn’t expected to see another person in the premises. She could have sworn there was no one nearby!
" Ah? Is something wrong, mister? “
|| | The expression that the other made, the anger in his crimson optics (quite reminiscent, if she might add, of a certain boy she has heard about from her brother), and the way that he diverted his eyes shortly after laying eyes on her, she was a bit worried.
Daring to approach, she took a few steps until but inches away. Leaning forward, she tilted her head in order to set her gaze upon his.
" Mm…? Disgusting people?”
▪「 ★ ▬ The sight of a young girl in the facility awakened a kind of rage even his partner's calm disposition couldn't quell. His partner's emotions had managed to prevent him from getting over-worked about matters he would usually lose his cool over; but it failed to overshadow his heart this time. His anger was too raw; too strong to win over. The innocence reflected in her brilliant blue eyes reminded him of his deceased younger sister. They were the eyes of a child who didn't deserve the fate they were handed by the world. How dare they. Grinding his teeth together, he could feel the fury within biting his heart and eating away what little rationality he had. They were going to pay for this. Shinn swore he would personally destroy this facility and burn the place to the ground.
A gentle voice snapped him out of his rage fuelled thoughts. Raising his gaze to look the young girl in the eyes, he blinked when he noticed the worried expression on her face. "... Don't worry about me." Since he was a victim of erratic mood swings, it wasn't strange for him to suddenly offer a reassuring smile at the stranger. As if he was completely fine. It did not mean that his heart was no longer clouded by resentment. It merely meant that he was storing it and waiting for the perfect opportunity to go berserk. A small frown replaced the smile etched across his face. "Yeah. The people who locked us in here are disgusting and deserve harsh punishment. I'm sure they will get it soon."
Shinn didn't hesitate to speak his thoughts out to her, as unpleasant as they were. There was no point hiding them from her. Even though he had a strong desire to protect the purity children possessed from war, he believed keeping them in the dark was harmful for them. He wasn't sure if the young girl understood the situation she was in; but the sooner she understood, the better it was for her. Hopefully, he didn't frighten her with his naturally hostile behavior. The young soldier smiled, attempting to be more friendlier before throwing a few questions at her. "What's your name? Are you alone here?"
{This guy actually had some pretty good comebacks. That earned a little bit of respect in his books. Nishi laughed, genuinely amused, before using a shoulder to shrug past Shinn, grab a soda and open it.}
— “At least you’ve got some backbone. I hope the other guy looks worse than you.”
▪「 ★ ▬ The genuine laughter caught him off-guard. It was rare for someone to give a positive response towards his words, but it made his life a little more easier. A small scoff escaped his lips as he pulled the can away from his cheek. "Wouldn't be able to make it this far if I didn't have any. He's probably worse than me since he looked terrible when I left."

▪「 ★ ▬ Nostalgia filled the young soldier's heart when he was greeted by an uncountable number of books neatly stacked vertically in their respective cases. The scowl he always carried with him slowly disappeared when he started thinking about his days as a cadet. While Shinn never failed to perform exceptionally in practical training, he had always struggled with the theory and academic part of the course. He could easily recall the countless hours he spent in the library with his two friends, attempting to understand everything their trainers taught them. It was brutal and exhausting. Upon realizing that he was reminiscing about the past, he lightly shook his head and mentally commanded himself to focus. Those memories, the feelings associated with the past; neither of them were going to assist him in completing his goal to escape from this facility.
Because there was clearly no way out through the fence, it was possible for there to be a secret way out of this nightmare. Deciding to start on the right side of the library, he walked towards the bookcases. Shinn narrowed his eyes before closely examining the books. There was nothing suspicious as far as he could tell. Getting down on one knee, he placed his hand on the floor and gently tapped the floorboards with his knuckles. The rustling sound emitting from the corner caused him to instinctively wrap his fingers around the grip of the gun located in his belt. Turning around, he gazed at the stranger with a pair of hostile eyes and an unfriendly frown. He removed his hand from his gun when he noticed the lack of malice in the other's face. "I didn't expect there to be someone who actually spent their time reading in this situation." His tone was laced with disbelief and there was a hint of irritation. "Enjoy being trapped in here?"

⋞✪⋟——Pfft! There was no use trying to hide his amusement.
"Hey now, what’s your problem? This is a perfectly good toy.” E-ki picked it up, and pressed a button on its back. "Look, it even has cool kicks."
▪「 ★ ▬ "Bastard. You think it's funny?!" Shinn's scowl grew larger when he saw the toy gundam once again. "Get that out of my face!"
▪「 ★ ▬ "Don't patronize me!" He angrily threw the toy gundam on the ground. Screw the 'kung-fu' action toy.

{Wow. Mature.
Nishi holds a hand out, giving Shinn an expectant glace. The boy just wants a drink… You did this to yourself, really.}
▪「 ★ ▬ His comment rubbed Shinn the wrong way, leading him to give an equally 'mature' response. "It's too bad for you. No amount of punches would ever fix your hideous face." When he took his hand out, he glanced at it for a brief second before looking back at the stranger. "Sorry, I don't have any change to give you. But maybe if you beg for it, it'll be different."
”Is that why you ended up punching yourself, Shinn?”
⊰Your tone is light and chiding but above all, amused. You glance at the coke a moment before shrugging a little and taking it for yourself, nodding a small thanks.⊱

▪「 ★ ▬ The comment she made about his wound would have usually warranted an aggressive reaction from Shinn, but his partner's emotions prevented him from snapping at her. Instead of getting angry, he placed a grumpy expression on his face and grunted at her. "My partner deserved it. He's the one who hurt me first." The frown on his face deepened before he responded to her. "I'll do whatever I want. Don't tell me what to do. Some people just won't understand unless you're aggressive with them."
