29 years ago today, a little animated series premiered. That crazy show features (what I consider to be) the best Lois Lane to date.

Dana Delany was able to bring to Lois so many different angles: she was fearless, sarcastic, sharp, and full of heart.

To this day, this version of Lois remains key to what she is today. She brought so many new things to our favorite intrepid reporter which are now consider crucial traits of the character. Dana gave Lois a stronger backbone and made her equal to Superman. In a way, she updated the damsel in distress trope.

She was still feminine, but also the smartest person in the room. She would show you why she was the best at what she did and was not afraid of danger.

I’m blessed for having grown up with such a strong role model and I’m thrilled that a new generation is getting a Lois Lane with the same gravitas (and appreciation) that Dana once had for the iconic Lois Lane.

My girl is in good hands and I couldn’t have asked for more.

Superman shouldn't be floating ominously above the people reaching out and begging for his help like an indifferent god. Superman should be personable, reassuring, someone who makes you feel safe, someone who does good because he genuinely cares, will rush in to help without a second thought, and still take the time to make sure you're okay before getting back to fighting a kaiju.

No one is a dick to HER nerd from Smallville, but her: A Theory

Lois being the protective girlfriend she is, doesn't like it...as a matter of fact hates it with a passion that Steve gets away with being a dickhead to her boyfriend. Mind you, how dare he? She is the only one who gets to make fun of that nerd.

Every day, it's the same thing: Clark walks into the office and Steve doesn't waste a second to bully him. She's paying attention, very closely: one day, she's gonna have the perfect opportunity to get to him and it's gonna be GOOD and she's going to ENJOY it.

…That day finally comes.

She has a flying saucer parked at the top of the Planet's building. The ground is splitting in half and the crew needs a way out. The moment Perry asks how many people does Terrific's saucer sit, she corroborates: five six, it carries six people...always 10 steps ahead; she knew that would bring that insufferable asshat on with the rest of the team.

Lois oh so casually asks her team to buckle up, well aware that all but one can safely take off. Once Steve is sitting on the ground, alarmed and crying about not having a seat, Lois pulls as hard as she can from the controls. Sweet revenge; the coldest it's served the better.

Maybe next time, he will think it twice before messing with her man.

Everybody is talking about her smile and the way she looks at him, but...

...Can I talk about the way her breathing picks up?

She is SO nervous for some reason, yet so happy to see him. You can feel in the way she is breathing (and I'm gonna throw in there that her heart is probably going insane, too) that builds up to the moment. Lois is truly desperate to find a moment with him, but in the way you need it when you have just realized you want to spend the rest of your life with someone.

The way her chest goes in and out pacing the desperation to kiss him now that she is in front of him, completely ready to let go and commit to him.

Okay but you forgot the best part! During the scene where Aragorn, Gandalf and the other Main CharaktersTM ride ahead to go shout at the gate (and talk to the mouth of sauron in the extended edition) they were very firmly told only to ride up ahead “this far” because that area was cleared and beyond that it wasn’t.

But. Viggo Mortensen is absolutely mad and lead them just…. a bit farther than that. Everyone else was very scared they might blow up any second. Viggo said it “added a little extra tension”.
