another thing that’s really great about lost is that there are so many beautiful coincidences, like how desmond was about to kill himself and then he heard locke pounding on the top of the hatch and turned on the light, and how locke was near hysterics screaming at a metal door to give him a sign, and suddenly a light turned on.

and both of those events were exactly what they needed at that exact time–locke needed a sign, and desmond needed to know that the world still existed outside of himself. and that’s beautiful.
