Stuck.

“No.” Tanner was never one to say no to anyone, let alone a male. But food was a bad thing to him right now. “You..help her?” He looked over at her as she slept, he definitely didn’t want her to die or anything bad.

Luke sighed quietly. He wasn’t leaving until he saw Tanner eat and it seemed like this might take a while. “I did help her. She’s okay, she’s just sleeping. But you need to eat. You can’t help her if you don’t eat and I can’t help you if you won’t tell me why you won’t eat,” Luke continued.

“Oh, I guess I don’t mind it”, Mirela shrugged back. There was something going on between them, especially on him. She bumped her shoulder softly against his and smiled, “You know, you were the first one who asked me if I wanted to go out. They never gave me that choice”, she said softly, hoping he would relax just a bit. She giggled a bit when he held the door for her. She wasn’t used to that behavior, not even before becoming a slave. “Thanks”, she smirked. He was so kind, a true gentleman among all the pricks. 

Inside his office, she looked around, and saw some bags and the picnic basket. She was impressed, her gaze following from what he had prepared for them back to him. “Hm… Ok”, she shrugged and grabbed the bag and the basket. “Thanks, I was starving”, she smirked and walked inside. She looked through the bags for a moment, pleased with what she saw. Only when she was holding one of the beautiful clothes he got for her, she realized she was too dirty to put them on. “I know there’s a shower somewhere…”, she mumbled to herself, and wandered around till she found it. She took a quick shower, and combed her hair with her own hands before coming back to the beds room, where she put the first outfit on.

“So… How do I look?”, the brunette asked with a smile while walking back to his medical room.

Luke smiled as he watched Mirela went through the bag and basket. He was happy she was happy. “Yeah I figured,” he answered as he stood back from her. After what she had been through, he planned on giving her as much space as she needed. She’d make the rules.

He watched as she wandered off to the shower. He’d forgotten about the damn shower. He felt bad for not offering it to her right away. He sat down and fiddled around with various tools as he waited for her to finish. This felt so foreign to him, he couldn’t get a grasp on it.

He looked back at her when she entered. He cleared his throat before he smiled. She looked beautiful. “You look... you look good,” he admitted with a nod as he got to his feet, “Really good.”

Tanner could tell him what happened, but it wouldn’t matter. He bit his lip, “Not hungry.” He shook his head and pointed over at Melissa’s cell, “She’s okay?” He asked, trying to subtract from his issue.

Luke thought he’d gotten pretty good at telling when his patients were lying and Tanner was lying through his wolf teeth. He turned his head to look at sleeping Melissa. He turned back and nodded. “She’ll be fine. Tell her to stop trying to escape, it’s gonna kill her,” he recommended then paused for a moment, “You have to eat. I know the food’s not the greatest but you have to keep up your strength.”

Tanner nodded, he knew he wasn’t luke– he believed that much from the man. But his scent still put him on edge. “Hi Lucas.” He said, preferring that name to the latter.

Luke smiled, happy that the kid was warming up to him. “The guard said you weren’t eating. Something wrong? Aren’t you hungry?” he asked curiously as he set his bag down.

The guard had just opened the cell, and she was already outside, her smiled dropped a bit when she saw when the guard moved to get the restraints. Mirela looked down, chewing on her bottom lip. Doc was here because he had rented her… Perhaps he was like the others after all. Her eyes lightened up, and she smiled again when Luke proved her wrong. She leaned into him, and barely noticed how her body was shaking when they walked outside. She was about to lean closer to the warmth of his body when she felt his coat around her petit frame, and she looked down in confusion. What in hell he had done that made him think he belonged here? He was like a true gentleman.

“Thanks”, she whispered softly, felling warm almost instantly. She nuzzled her nose upon the lapel of his coat, taking in his scent. Mirela found that she liked it. “Bounce around? What does that mean?”, she frowned again, english wasn’t her first language, so there were still a few expressions she wasn’t familiar with. “As long I’m with you, I don’t care where you take me”

“It means we’ll just have to move around tonight, but it’s nice out,” he answered with a shrug. He fought the urge to hold her hand finding it wouldn’t be appropriate. He licked his lips as they exited the building. He held the door open for her and motioned for her to follow him to the medical room. He had a bag there full of a few clothing items and a little picnic dinner for the two of them.

“If you want to just relax on one of the beds inside, that’s okay. I understand,” he nodded. He’d be disappointed but this was about her. It wasn’t about him. She needed a night about her.

Luke. That name echoed in his head, the person who tricked him had the same name…and the same smell. He looked up at the man in confusion, he looked nothing like him. He looked to his arms to see if his bite mark was there, it wasn’t. Tanner breathed, “You… have his name.”

Luke frowned a moment before he realized the poor kid had him confused with the master. “You mean the Master right? We’re not... I’m not him,” he explained quickly, “My full name is Lucas McLaughlin, I’m a doctor. I’m not like him. I’m not gonna hurt you, I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Fuck!”, Mirela mumbled under her breath when the cell block door opened for like the millionth time on that night. She covered her head with the thin blanket and hoped that no one would notice her. Great, you have ptsd now. She thought to herself and rolled her eyes. She counted the steps in the hall, and almost cursed when they stopped by her cell. Please, let not be him, let not be him. She whispered to herself. Luke really played a number on her, she had told him he wouldn’t be able to break her soul, but in fact she feared that someday he would.

She wasn’t expecting to hear his voice, and quickly pulled the blanket from her face and sat on the cot, chocolate hues staring at him, with quite disbelief. He sounded nervous, had anything gone wrong? She frowned lightly before sighing in relief after his question. “Yes”, she nodded her head while making her way towards the bars, “I want that very much”

Luke smiled, relieved that she’d said yes. He wanted to give her a choice, it was one of the few things he could still give her. He watched as the guard unlocked her cell and moved to put restraints on her. He stopped the guard and shook his head. “That’s... those won’t be necessary,” he advised the guard who shrugged and led them toward the exit. He quickly took off his own coat and gave it to Mirela to put on figuring she was freezing.

“I don’t stay here so we’ll have to bounce around tonight,” he told her quietly, “but the medical room is empty and I’ve got food and some clothes if you want them.”

It was a guard calling out, “Doctor, there is a slave that is openly refusing to eat. He’s the werewolf.” they pointed over to the cell in question. The boy hadn’t wanted to eat since he was tricked and taken advantage of by a witch at the promise of food. Now he was refusing food and growing quite the fear of the scent of witches.

Luke walked quickly down the cell block toward where the guard was standing. It was opposite of where Melissa was sleeping. He turned to see a young kid, a werewolf, in the corner of his cell. He turned the guard and waved him off. “Thanks, I got it from here,” he told the guard who thought he was being an ass for pointing out what the kid was. He turned his full attention to the kid who had shaggy blonde hair and an innocent looking face that probably got him into trouble here. “Hey Tanner,” he greeted softly, “I’m Luke.” He tapped his own chest offering the kid a small smile.

ava’s evergreen hues glanced up at him, as she nodded. “ava weiss, yes.” she confirmed, her voice low && even. “i don’t know how t-to say this…” she stuttered, clearly embarrassed. “…two men forced themselves on m-me && now it really hurts && i still bleed…&&…p-please, make it stop.”

Luke knew he wouldn’t be able to do anything. He could give her pads to help with the bleeding and aspirin, but that was it. He needed to do an exam though just in case, he was assuming she was merely bruised with trauma. He hadn’t done a gynecological exam since his residency and wished he had some medical books with him. “I’m gonna go ahead and take you back to the medical room so I can make sure it’s not something serious. There’s a good chance you’re just bruised and it’ll heal on its own, but I’ll do an exam and get you some aspirin,” he instructed before he waved down a guard to let her out.

Luke swallowed nervously as he entered the cell block. He was doing something he’d never done before for the sake of someone he cared about. He was going to take Mirela out for a few hours. He didn’t want know what to do with her. He was planning on feeding her and giving her some clothes, but other than that he didn’t know. He just knew he needed to do this before something truly terrible happened to her.

He spoke to a guard who followed him to Mirela’s cell. “Mirela,” he greeted, the nerves clear in his voice, “you wanna come out with me for a few hours?” He looked in the cell at her, keeping his eyes on her and not any lower. She didn’t need any more eyes on her body than already were on a daily basis.

Jonas shrugged his shoulders, unsure of what to say to the other. “Water would just make me colder, right?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “I mean- Ii know there’s slaves with actual health problems. You shouldn’t waste time talking with me.”

“It’s not a waste of time, it’s my job. Everyone’s fine,” he countered as he set down his bag. He leaned against the bars and looked in at the young guy. “Where you from?” he asked thinking he’d force the kid to be social with him if he didn’t want to openly do it.

Jonas sat up just slightly, staring at the other. “Even If I wasn’t, you can’t do much. I mean- you can’t give me a blanket and it’s just the cold. So- so don’t worry about it Doc.”

Luke was intrigued now. It wasn’t often that they pushed him away. Most wanted someone to talk to above everything else. “I can do some things. I stitched up a girl and gave her some aspirin. I can get you some water. I’ve got some time, I can listen,” he offered.

He shook his head, looking away from the older male. Instead of responding by voice he just curled into a ball to keep himself warm. “I-I’m sorry for bugging you sir. That was my only question.”

Luke shook his head quickly. “You weren’t bugging me and you don’t have to call me that. It’s Luke or Doc. You sure you’re okay?” he asked, the worry still very apparent in his voice.

ava called out, a man she was told was a doctor. after what luke && deryck had done to her, she thought she needed to see a doctor. getting torn apart on the inside, was definitely a serious thing && the blonde still felt horrible pain when walking. “excuse m-me? i was told you were a d-doctor?” plump lips turned into a pout before she smiled faintly. “i n-need your help?”

Luke followed the sound of a voice until he reached the petite blonde’s cell. She looked... well she looked awful. It was clear she wasn’t sleeping and he could tell she’d become someone’s new favorite. He looked down at his clipboard then back at her. “Yeah I’m the doctor which would make you Ava. How can I help?” he asked with a pleasant smile, trying to make it seem like he wasn’t scared of what she was going to say.

“Can I um- Can I have a blanket sir?” Jonas asked softly, feeling himself begin to shiver. “I’m just a bit cold, I’m sorry If I’m asking for too much or whatever. I’m- please?”

Luke followed the sound of the voice too a nearby cell. He looked down at his clipboard. “Jonas right?” he asked before he looked back up at the kid before giving him an apologetic smile, “I’m sorry, I can’t. You feeling okay? You got any body aches?”

Luke finished stitching up Melissa for the third... fourth time? He’d already lost track, but she was one of his frequent patients. He left her cell quietly as she was trying to get some much needed sleep. He put his glasses back on as he headed down the cell block hallway. He nodded at the guard nearby before he stopped suddenly. He thought he heard his name. He turned around and waited. There it was again. He walked back toward the cells before calling out, “Yeah I’m here, what do you need?”
