Hi hi!! I really love love LOVE Ro and her whole story. Obviously the white dragonborn is iconic and dear to my heart but there’s nothing I like more than a evil woman with killer fashion that also literally kills everyone around her (except the man who treats her like a queen).
I’ve only found your acc recently but it’s been such an inspiration to me. I drew my first art of my durge after seeing Gortash comforting Ro after she made a whole wallpaper out of a palace. Something about the calm after the storm vibes of that piece really just hit.
Anyways onto the ‘ask’ portion of the ask. I’m always impressed by comic artists and the way they are kind of jack-of-all-trades where they tackle characters, lighting scenario, background, formatting, and narrative at the same time. Would you mind giving some advice for someone who’s not familiar with the comic creation process?? Like a bit of what goes through your mind when you draw all those beautiful comics of Ro and Gortash’s story and your workflow.
Sorry this became a bit long but thank you very much and keep on creating!!! <33
Thank you so much🩷 It honestly means more than I can put into words. I'm really happy to hear my work could inspire you to draw your own Durge <3
As for comics
I'm actually still a beginner myself. In fact, every comic in my masterpost is every comic I've ever made, so I'm not sure how qualified I am to give advice hah
My process usually starts with an idea. I find it really hard to storyboard until I know exactly what I want to say or show.
Once I have the idea, I draw an imaginary line between Point A and Point B: where the character starts, where they need to end up, and then I ask myself, "How do they get there?"
For example, in one comic I wanted to show Ro finding her portrait. She could have simply walked into the room… but that would've lost a lot of the atmosphere xD
So I sketch out every scene that pops into my head based on my visual library, and then I start cutting things. Panels, moments, even entire pages. If the story still works without them, they probably weren't necessary in the first place. x)
Sometimes I just walk around my room and act out the scene. It helps me picture it more clearly in my head x)
