One of my favorite things about loving someone or developing a closeness or fondness towards someone is also loving and developing a fondness for the things they care about. When you learn to see the world in a new way, or you learn to appreciate the things youāve previously overlooked, or they become your excuse to get into an interest you always thought was cool but thought you didnāt have time for. When a connection makes your world bigger and warmer and fuller and more beautiful.
The polar opposite of corporate accounts trying to come across as hip and super friendly are the ones for libraries, aquariums, parks systems and the like, that are basically just trying to get people excited about learning and the wonder of history/science by posting things like this:
You know how much I would lose my mind if I was at an aquarium and turned a corner to see a wild ass heron staring at a fish tank
louis' narration: it was dusk. the smell of petrichor still lingered in the air, greeting me as i woke and pondered my new existence as a vampire, a creature of the night. as the sun set and gave way to new darkness, so too had something awakened in me, a bloodlust that could not be sated. was i now man or monster? or something in between, a perversion of even the natural order in which all other beings reside?
lestat's narration: yeah so i drained someone at my concert and almost overdosed on LSD and MDMA but that's just another tuesday amirite? so i fucked her in the elevator and killed a bunch of vampires with daniel (ugh, i hate him though what a loser š) i wish louis still loved me

Scully in episode 1: I don't really agree with Mulder on anything, but he seems earnest and like a nice enough guy. I think he honestly just needs a friend.
Scully in episode 2: Mulder, my new best friend, has been captured by the US Army, so I will now commit several Class-A felonies and enter into an armed hostage situation to get him back.
The sword catching scene in Pirates of the Caribbean took hours to film because the actors kept missing the catch, so their reactions in the final shot are genuine.
the coats and suits of mulder and scully
i'm hoping to do more soon! they actually have a pretty nice variety, specially scully. feel free to reply if you have any suggestions for next ones :D
"The magic system is never fully explained" yeah that's how life works. Imagine having a story set in modern day America and the characters have several pages of exposition on combustion engines and telecommunication networks before we get to the plot
i think this is absolutely correct and good writing advice but also victor hugo would like to have a word with you about the parisian sewer system circa 1832

I miss matching lockets and handwritten notes and love letters, and lipstick stains on envelopes and sonnets and underlined passages, boomboxes in the rain and mixtapes and photographs in wallet sleeves, dedications in first editions and burnt cds and shoeboxes full of receipts and embroidered initials and
If you have a senior to check on ask them to "borrow" something small so they think they're helping you.
My mom (72) recently downsized and moved close enough to me that checking on her in person regularly is not really out of my way, but when I was obvious about it she wouldnāt let me āstop-byā because she was, āfineā.
Well, one day I actually needed some aluminum foil so I called and asked if I could borrow enough to cover a baking tin because I didnāt want to run to the store. She said sure, but when I got to her house she needed furniture moved, a wasp nest removed, and her coffee pot fixed. After I got the foil I mentioned each thing cautiously and she let me take care of them for her. So next weekend Iāll need a cup of rice and check on her again.
Even better, hereās an array of more reciprocal options for building relationship & supporting seniorsā dignity and independence:
- ask for something they can actually help you with. Elders have skills. Mending? Advice about knitting, gardening, home repair, nevermind professional training?
-ask about their experiences. āI was reading about xyz event the other day & I would love to know what that time was like for you. Can we chat about it over tea?ā Goes double for family history for relatives.
-āSomeone gave me this [or, I ended up with extra] & I donāt need/want it, but I bet you have a use for it. Can I bring it over? I would hate for it to go to waste.ā
-work side-by-side. They get your physical help, you get their experience & expertise. āCould I come over & have you show me how you [used to] prune your gorgeous roses? Iām trying to get better with mine.ā
