split-queen:
When Raveena saw Regina emerge with Henry, she could only frown at her wife. She had offered them a way out of all this mess and yet Regina chose to put herself in danger like this? How stupid was she?
Getting up from her place, Raveena paid the bill and gripped the toy for Henry painfully tight. She had expected them gone, she could easily have said they were dead, her father wouldn’t mind anyways, he simply wanted an heir and she could give him another with someone she didn’t love, someone she wouldn’t be privy to weakness for. ❝Regina❞ She greeted softly, turning to take the diaper bag from her wife’s arm. Pissed was an understatement, but what could she do in a situation with three bodyguards tailing them?
The trip back to the jet was short, security was pretty lenient, but her father had deals in place for his safe travel, perhaps it extended to her as well.
A few minutes later and they were buckling up for take off. She only had a few hours to get Regina pregnant and even then, what if it wouldn’t work…what if they weren’t even ready for another child as yet? what if Henry suffered because she was paying more attention to her new job rather than the babies and her wife? Sighing, Raveena buckled herself into the seat once the light came on signalling their departure.
❝You’re foolish to come back❞ She whispered once the jet began to move down the runway ❝You had a clear opportunity to leave and you blew it. I offered you multiple ways out of this mess, with Henry might I add, yet you continue to come back to me despite making it perfectly clear you hate me for doing this to us. I don’t understand you anymore❞
Regina knew that her wife was angry with her. How could she miss the signs? They had been married for so long and she knew the signs almost as well as she knew herself. But there was no time to talk or to explain why she had chosen to stay instead of taking her chances alone. Besides, how far would she have gotten with a one year old in tow? They would be slow and hiding a child so young would be difficult; they would have been dragged back within hours and Regina would have been killed.
“Our best chance is with you,” she explained quietly, her voice barely louder than the plane. “I know nothing about this place, this world. And... I still love you. Despite all the lies, this... this other life you hid from me...” She gently took Raveena’s hand, squeezing it firmly. “I’m not letting them hurt Henry. And the best way to make sure that he lives is if I go with you. Despite everything, you’d never let him get hurt.”
She could feel the plane gaining altitude and she looked forward, determined to not regret her decision to stay. She loved her wife. She loved her son. She would do whatever it took to make sure that things were okay.
