I love the idea of Dennis being a really jealous person in a relationship, but not really the type of talking about it, mostly the type of getting moody and grumpy. Almost bratty.
So in one shift he notices Robby talking to a woman, around the older man age, really beautiful and kind. They’re laughing, joking around, bright smiles in both of their faces. Dennis finds himself looking their interaction from the distance, fists closing tightly.
Oh. Okay. He nods it off, and walks away to his next patient. And for the rest of the shift he avoids any interaction with his boyfriend.
When it’s time to head home, Dennis still hasn’t spoke to Robby. He’s buckling his belt in Robby’s car, without even looking at the man.
“Rough shift?” He asks, starting the car, looking at Dennis.
“You could say that.” Dennis says curtly, looking out of the window, avoiding eye contact.
Robby’s not convinced by that answer, he feels confused.
“I barely saw you around. They kept you busy, huh?” Robby scuffles, trying to calm down the tension in the air. The only response he got was a little hum from his boy, which makes Robby sigh softly, starting to feel frustrated by Dennis silence when it’s so obvious something it’s going on and he’s not catching it like he’s supposed to.
“You did look busy.” Dennis confronts, still not looking at Robby, who frowns confused as he looks at the road.
“I- uh…” He turns his head to look at Dennis for a quick second before focusing back on the road. “Are you- Is everything alright, sweetheart?” He asks, this time with complete seriousness.
“Everything is perfect.” Dennis says, his arms crossed, and his eyes still locked in the window.
“What is this? What are you doing?” He asks almost desperate, clearly pissed off.
“I’m not doing anything. Does it look like I’m doing something?” Dennis snaps back, still not looking at his man.
“It looks like you’re upset about something and you’re choosing not to talk about it with me. That’s what you’re doing.” Robby points out, looking at the road but wishing he could look directly at Dennis in this instance.
“Oh well. Does that bother you? Do I bother you? Why don’t you go talk to that bitch you were laughing your ass off a couple hours ago? Maybe she won’t bother you.” The boy says under his breath, but loud enough for Robby to hear perfectly.
Robby immediately turns his head to look at Dennis with wide open eyes.
“What are you talking about, Dennis?” Robby asks with a tense tone in his voice.
“Oh you know what I’m talking about.” Dennis groans, and finally looks at Robby’s direction.
“Is this why you’re acting like this? Because you saw me talking to another person at work?” Robby asks in disbelief, irritated by the situation.
“Why do you even care so much, sir?” Dennis snaps, with a rude tone, frowning at Robby.
Robby stops the car abruptly when he hears that tone, with the excuse that the traffic light was red. His boy did NOT just snap at him like that.
“Dennis. Don’t give me that attitude.” Robby says in a slow and deep voice, really serious, looking at Dennis deep in the eyes, pointing at him with his finger.
“What are you gonna do, huh? Send me to my room? Punish me?” Dennis attacks, not changing his expression, challenging and threatening. Like he’s daring Robby to snap at him. To be mad.
Robby just stares at Dennis in disbelief, not knowing what to do with this bratty man in front of him who just gave him a really rude attitude. The sweet, nice, kind and innocent boy he (though) was with, is acting like a teenager who is not getting what he wants.
