Dear Diary, 💕 In a routine stop at the Nexus, I bumped into an old flame of mine. It was rather funny…really. I was browsing the general goods store… and they had the MOST adorable squishy unicorn stuffed animal! *squeals* Unicorns are mother nature’s gift from the heavens—such precious animals! …
Log 1.1a: Note to self. I should commission the Nexus science team to delve into the genetic composition of unicorns. 🦄 )
But I digress… I heard a familiar voice as I was lost pondering about the scientific phenomena that unicorn genomics will have on Andromeda.
“I think that stuffed animal is meant for you, mademoiselle. It perfectly matches your beautiful blue eyes”. A familiar voice and scent approached from behind which brought me back to the days when I was back in Uni studying for my PhD. (It seemed like eons ago!) *chuckles* I turned around, and there she was perfect as ever. I was astonished to see my former Uni colleague and girlfriend with whom I worked countless hours with while working on my dissertation. Memories flooded my mind, bringing me back to our much needed tea breaks to overcome the monotony of lab work, intellectual visits to the nearby Glasgow art museum, and a romantic rendezvous that consisted of champagne and a picnic under the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Her scent was of lavender and lilacs.
Except it wasn’t a fairy tale ending, for she had broke my heart. I still remember the conversation as if it were yesterday, “Suvi, I know that we have become really close, but I feel that Andromeda is going to be a new start for both of us. I hope you understand.” I tried my best to keep the tears from falling. (Be strong and keep it together, Suvi!) I was shocked to see Erin after so many years of being in cryo. But the feelings remained the same.
Heartbroken, she had a way of paralyzing me. I finally had the courage to say, “Why hello, Erin! How wonderful it is to see you! You look like you’re doing well.” Inquisitively, she asked, "Maybe we can catch up over drinks while you’re here?" Astonished, I tried my best to keep a smile, but I wasn’t ready to re-open all the emotions from the past. “Perhaps another time. I'm actually seeing someone, but that's sweet of you to ask.”
Oh diary…It took me a long time to pick up the pieces but out-of-the-blue… I was blessed with a new life of adventure with Ryder. I am so happy! 😋 Kallo thinks I am crazy because I keep on laughing and smiling when no one is around. I named my unicorn, “Magic” as a constant reminder of that day.
Love is a very splendid thing. All you need is love.
