The Joint Replacement Center at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, by Dr. Tilok Ghose
At Abbott Northwestern Hospital, the Joint Replacement Center operates as part of an award-winning orthopedic care department. The center holds Blue Distinction Center status, granted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota in recognition of its high level of care. The Joint Replacement Center combines the talents of 13 specially trained physicians with a full staff of other skilled specialists. Abbott Northwestern's joint replacement surgeons strive for minimally invasive procedures, and the anesthesiology team from Northwest Anesthesia has developed a specialized pain management system that adjusts to each patient's needs. In addition, the center's support staff guides patients through a specially designed post-surgery program that features group therapy, physical therapy, and pain control. The center encourages patients to designate a family member or close friend to become a “coach” throughout this process, and coaches are welcome in helping the patients through many steps.
