Full Moon Magic: August
Hello everyone! Today, August 29th, is the full moon for the month of August 2015. In continuing with my monthly posts about the magic of the full moons, Iâve put together some information about magical workings for the August full moon that are specific to this month. If youâre like me and you always forget the full moon until the last minute, this is the post for you! Here goes:
August Full Moon
This full moon is often known as the Corn Moon, Barley Moon, Wort Moon, or Harvest Moon.Â
Centered around the beginning of the harvest, the August moon is in strong contrast with the previous June and July moons. The growth of June and waiting of July lead to August harvest. It is the beginning of the end of the moonâs cycle through the months. In June, we set goals. In July, we think about what comes after those goals. In August, we begin to fulfill those goals.
Colors: Yellow, gold, red, orange
God/desses: Thoth, Hathor, Diana, Nemesis, Hecate, Ceres, Demeter
Herbs/plants: Sunflower and marigold decorate this moon. Rosemary, basil, fennel, rue, and any early harvest plants may also be used.
Gems/crystals/stones: Tigerâs eye, garnet, carnelian, fire agate, and jasper are great. Peridot may also be associated, as it is Augustâs birthstone.
Ideas for magic: Turn your attention towards magic involving friendships and energy. Harness this moonâs fiery energy to perform magic to aid you in the final months to come.
Other symbols: Fire, grain, rebirth
This year, the August full moon is in the sign of Pisces. This means that it is an excellent time for divination, psychic work, and spirit communication. You may experience a reawakening in your spirituality or imagination. Donât shut it out!
Have fun being witchy at this full moon! If you have any questions, feel free to send me an ask. Also, please note that these are the correspondences for the Northern Hemisphere. I do not know how the correspondences differ from hemisphere to hemisphere, so if you have anything that youâd like to add, please feel free to tell me! Thanks for reading, and keep watch for another full moon magic post next month :)

How to Interpret the Candle Flame
A Strong Flame: This indicates that power and energy are going into your desire for manifestation. When a figure candle is used, a strong flame generally means that the person represented is winning or angry or using authority over another. When two figure candles are present, the higher and stronger flame represents authority over the other.
A Weak Flame: This can show that you are facing heavy opposition and must redo the magick several times in order to overcome the power you are facing. The weak flame can also indicate, on a figure candle, that the subject is losing the battle. The weak flame that goes out means that youâve missed your target altogether, start over.
A Jumping Flame: This is an attention getter. It can indicate raw emotions along with explosions of energy.
Rainbow Flame: If your flame is composed of various colours this indicates that there are outside influences at work that may be beyond the power of the questioner. Colours can also show that the question may be best answered at a later date. The factors involved may need a change to develop and evolve for a clearer view of what may occur
Direction of Flame Movement NORTH:Â On a waxing moon, something physical is manifesting.
EAST:Â something mental is manifesting.
SOUTH:Â in love matters, you can expect a steamy love affair that doesnât last too long.
WEST:Â emotional aspects. A good sign of success and love.
Direction of Smoke
Northern Movement:Â Something physical is manifesting. You will have to work for what you wish to achieve.
Eastern Movement:Â Something mental is manifesting. Think things through and have patience in situations.
Southern Movement:Â Something intense and shortlived is manifesting. Success comes rapidly and with intensity.
Western Movement:Â The manifestation of strong Magick intervention. The issue is too emotional. You are too involved-step away for a time. Clear your thoughts.
Infrequent Noise(Soft): Pure thoughts, intimate conversation.
Frequent Noise(Mild): An authority figure giving orders or directions.
Frequent Chatter(Strong): Arguments, quarrels or loud disagreements.
Reblogging this for reference! Thus far I have only tried fire scrying, but this is extremely useful.

the only reason your art looks awful to you is because you had an image in your head and the art you created doesnt match it
other people have no image, so when presented with the art you created, theyâre usually pretty impressed, because wow you made that out of nothing!! its so cool!!
so next time you want to judge your own art badly try to remember that youâre comparing it to the perfect picture you had in your head as opposed to recognizing that hey u made a thing out of nothing how cool is that
Also! Youâve been looking at that image, painstakingly analyzing it for flaws for hours. People seeing it with fresh eyes are not coming from the same place of exhaustion
i am a person who you show it to and i just pass out from the sheer creative beauty that just bloomed in front of my pupils.
Lunar Charged Magical Mirror
A magical mirror can be used as a direct communication device to the moon. You can use it in moon magic, protection magic, glamour magic, love magic, etc.Â
During a full moon, place a compact mirror (preferably one that can close) outside somewhere where it can reflect the moonâs rays. Let it soak up the moon for as long as you feel it needs it. While youâre doing this, you can also soak up the moonâs rays yourself. When the mirror is full of lunar energy, look at your reflection in the mirror and connect with it. This connects the mirror to not only the moon, but also your energy. It should only be used by you. When youâre done, close it and put it somewhere safe.Â
To Use:
To grant wishes - Look into the mirror while stating your wish. Say a chant or perform a spell if you like. Look into the mirror and visualize your wish coming true.
Protection - You can prop it open so it reflects any negativity away from you and back to the sender. Look into the mirror while invisioning being protected by the moonâs energy. Whether the physical moon is out or not does not matter, as the mirror is filled with lunar energy.
Glamour - Put on any makeup in front of the mirror while chanting or visualizing your face glowing with your intent. âI will look and feel beautiful todayâ âPeople will be intimidated by my presenceâ âI will exude confidenceâ are good examples.Â
Love - Look into the mirror while visualizing the love you wish to have. Think about all the qualities you want in a lover;Â âThey need to like animals. Give good cuddles. Have a good job. Take me on dates.â etc. Chant or sing a love song into the mirror while invisioning love coming your way. Even just asking the mirror to bring you a potential lover (or bring you closer to your current love) will do the trick. But make sure to specify if you want a long term relationship, or a summer fling, etc. Or the mirror may bring you a fling when you wanted a committed relationship, or vice versa.
Healing - If you are sick or having a mental issue, you can look into the mirror and invision it sucking in your illness or your current state of mind (if you are having an anxiety attack, the mirror can suck in the anxious energy, calming you down). Once you feel it has sucked in all it can, quickly close it, pour salt on top of it, and sit it in the window so the sun and moon can cleanse it. On the next full moon, open it up and let it soak in more lunar energy. Do not open it until the full moon! Just leave it in the window to be cleansed. You donât want any of that sick energy coming back to you! â You could also point the mirror in the direction of someoneâs house and tell it to reflect all that sick energy onto that person. Itâll take the sickness from you, and give it to an enemy. Do not look into the mirror after you have taken the sickness out of you! After you feel it has reflected on your enemy enough, close it, pour salt on it, and keep it in the window until the next full moon. â I wouldnât suggest doing any healing or cursing with the mirror until you can get a handle on mirror magic. It can be dangerous if done incorrectly!
~ Tips:
You can draw symbols on the mirror depending on what you intend to use it for. I drew the Eye of Horus on the top of mine (directly on the mirror part, not the outside. Although you can draw on the outside if you wish) so when I open it, itâll protect me from any harmful energies during its use. If you are going to use yours primarily for love, you can draw a heart. Or a flower for glamour, or a crescent moon for moon magic. I would suggest drawing some kind of protective symbol on it no matter what you decide to use your mirror for. A pentacle, Evil Eye, Eye of Horus, a sigil, or any symbol you associate with protection will work.
Itâs a good idea to recharge your mirror every full moon. Just repeat the ritual of reflecting the rays and looking into the mirror. Redraw any symbols if you need to.
Keep the mirror in a pouch or box with a quartz crystal (or any protective or lunar-related crystal) and a container of salt just to keep it cleansed, charged, and to have the salt handy for cleansings afterwards.
While doing glamour or love magic, you can put on lipstick and kiss the mirror, leaving a kiss mark, and then close it. As long as the mark stays, it will keep the glamour intact, or bring your love to you. When you want to undo the spell, just wash off the kiss mark.
You can rub some moon water or moon oil on the mirror during the charging ritual for extra power and cleansing.
Crystals for Psychic Development
Amethyst:Â Powerful and protective crystal believed to protect its wearer from psychic attack and is a calming, stress- relieving stone that is good for mediums to work with. I recommend a piece of jewelry that you always wear for this purpose. Promotes claircognizance and clairvoyance, plus it helps to bring mind, body, and spirit into balance. Â
Apatite:Â Easily obtained multi- hued crystal most often found in yellow to olive- green shades. It is also available in deep blue, which is popular in jewelry. A good stone to work with as you begin to develop your psychic talents, it also enhances clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience.Â
Aquamarine: Fabulous for the psychic sensitive. It is classically used to sharpen clairvoyant abilities and is rumored to help mediums make a clearer connection the other side. Look for low- grade tumbled stones or finer specimens at gem and mineral shows. You could also invest in a piece of aquamarine jewelry.Â
Black Tourmaline: One of the best stones for psychic protection from othersâ negative psychic energy. An incredibly powerful stone for protection work on all levels. If you feel particularly under the effect of other peopleâs psychic influences, set black tourmaline on your nightstand while you sleep.
Bloodstone: Deep green stone with flecks of red bleeding through. Bloodstones are used for healing work, as they promote both physical and psychic health. An excellent stone to work with if you need to recoup and recharge after a psychic overextension or for repairing tears or scuffs in your aura.Â
Labradorite: This blue- gray stone is used for transformation and for clear seeing. This crystal promotes clairvoyance, banishes fear and anxiety, and can help remove psychic gunk from your aura.Â
Lapis Lazuli: This dark blue stone is flecked with gold. Called the seerâs stone and known for opening up psychic vision (clairvoyance), it is also excellent for repelling psychic attacks. This stone helps restore a healthy emotional balance.Â
Lavender Quartz: A variety of rose quartz that is a soft opaque lavender color. It promotes clairaudience, clairvoyance, and clairsentience, and it bestows an extra boost of energy. A very loving, comforting stone, itâs well worth the search to acquire one.Â
Moonstone:Â Wonderful crystals to help open up your sensitivity to others. Used as a talisman for safe travel, this receptive and calming crystal heightens all psychic abilities, especially intuition, clairtangency, clairvoyance, and clairsentience. Moonstone would also help a psychic sensitive get a better read for locations and local ghosts, as this crystal opens up your ability to receive impressions.Â
Onyx: This stone is all about memories, which makes it a useful tool for postcognitive experiences, as well as for aiding the psychic ability of clairtangency and the art of psychometry. Onyx is also a very potent protection from psychic attack.Â
Quartz Crystal (Clear): This is a power stone, plain and simple. Quart crystal points act as clarifiers, power generators, and batteries for the times when you need a little extra âjuice,â or energy. I like to keep a small crystal point with my tarot cards to add a little extra clarity to my readings.Â
Rhodocrosite: A beautiful banded stone in shades of pink with white, gray, and black. This is a stone of love and compassion. Rhodocrosite helps us learn from past mistakes and keeps our heart open. This stone is excellent for when you are healing from a psychic overextension.Â
Smoky Quartz: Smoky quartz is a gorgeous smoky- brown variety of quartz crystal. It neutralizes negative emotions and energies, plus it pulls positive energies into a space. This would be a fine stone to wear or carry while working psychic self- defense.Â
Tigerâs- Eye: The golden- brown banded tigerâs- eye stone is an energy- boosting, courageous stone, excellent for use in psychic self- defense. Tigerâs- eye will ward off jealous feelings from your detractors, as well as help you to stay grounded and complete your goals.Â
Turquoise: Well known for its healing and emotionally protective properties, turquoise is an aid for claircognizance. Turquoise is also a purification stone, and it bestows tranquility on its wearer.

Witch's Guide To Grounding
Grounding serves two basic purposes.
It stabilizes your energy
It reconnects you with the earth and helps you focus on reality
When you spellcast or practice energy work, you are very likely to end up with either an excess or deficit of personal energy. This is a very uncomfortable state to be in and can include physical symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, nausea, pain, uncomfortable buzzing sensations under your skin, exhaustion, and more.
When you experiment with astral travel, journeying, or dreamwork, you may find yourself in the equally uncomfortable state of not being 100% connected to reality or âpresentâ in this world.
Grounding takes care of both of these issues.
Ideally, you should learn how to ground before you attempt any other energy work or spellwork. Let me assure you that it is totally uncool to start messing with your energy levels without a way to balance out. Grounding is not an optional skill for a witch who wants to stay healthy, safe, and sane.
There are many grounding guides available online. If this technique doesnât work for you, look for other methods.
1 - Grow Roots. Sit quietly outside on some nice soil or grass. Outside is best because it helps you connect to natural energies more, but if you can do it inside, go for it. Like a tree, gently visualize a long and sturdy taproot growing out of your spine and burrowing deep in to the earth.
Gently visualize. No need to hurt yourself.
My friend gets intense physical pain when she tries this - if you canât get spinal growth, try sprouting roots out of your feet instead.
This process may actually take a little while. Do your best for as long as you can maintain focus, then return the next day and continue.
2 - Configure your roots to move energy. Your root will both bring up and send down energy. If you prefer, have a Y root with one side sending down and one side bringing up. Sitting down, breathe in for 4 counts. As you breathe in, imagine the rich and pure energy of the earth rushing up to replenish your energy. Breathe out for 4 counts, and imagine excess and unwanted energy flowing down to the earth where she can use it for her own purposes.
Meditate on this for some time, training your astral roots, until they work automatically every time you breathe.
3 - Test the system. Several times a day or as often as you remember, check in with your astral roots to see if they are still working. Look in to it in different environments, such as in buildings, cars, or nature. Your roots are permanent unless you dismantle them.
Once you are satisfied the roots are working on their own, attempt some other form of energy work. Watch your roots carefully afterwords and determine if they are dong their job to rebalance you. When acute grounding is needed, breathe in counts of 4 and use extra visualization to move the energy.
4 - Upkeep. Once a week/month, check in with your roots and determine they are free of blockages or other issues. This does happen so donât put upkeep on the back shelf.
Miscellanea: This may be a long process if you are inexperienced in energy work. Donât be frustrated if it takes a week or two - you are probably doing a better job than people who rush it.
If you donât really âgetâ visualization, work on feeling or âknowingâ the roots are there and working instead of trying to force an image.
