i dislike the whole “horror is so back” narrative people are throwing around recently with obsession and backrooms. both are great movies, but horror was also so back with the long walk. and sinners. and the substance. and nosferatu. and literally anything directed by jordan peele. horror as a genre will always have its flops. but there will always be those few that revive the hype.
whole house miserable 💔
Marty Mcfly is the best protagonist because he’s simultaneously so awkward and so cool. He says insane ominous things to strangers. He has the goofiest run I’ve ever seen. He plays loud music no one gets. All the women are in love with him. All the men are impressed with him or threatened by him. The children look at him like he’s the coolest person in the world. His name is Marty Mcfly. That’s such a sick name.
something about lonnie byers saying "that boy was never very good at taking care of himself" and then 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙮 knowing how to use 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙚'𝙨 gun to protect himself
thinking about jonathan byers thinking his little brother's death, who he practically brought up all by himself, was partially 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙪𝙡𝙩 for taking on an extra shift in order to pay the bills
thinking about jonathan byers putting up missing posters and looking at caskets and organising the whole funeral practically by himself
thinking about jonathan byers forcing himself to go and see his abusive father because he felt he needed to check his house and his 𝙘𝙖𝙧 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙩 for will just in case
thinking about jonathan byers watching his mother refuse to accept will was dead, while the whole town was grieving, and he really really thought will was 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙙
poor goth boy
Still thinking about Newt and Thomas
they escaped the maze in a week. A WEEK. so I thought this would bring some giggles.
The first time Jake got into jail, it was in the alternate world where he got caught for stealing and his file didn't show up in the missing person's system. A social worker had come to take Jake away when Felix, Sam and Andy showed up. Andy then took a magnet and managed to erase all and any footage incriminating them. A while later he found out that Andy's magnet didn't do anything but his heart twitched at the thought that Andy still tried.
The first time Jake got accidentally sick, it was in the alternate world where he ate a pickle he wasn't supposed to eat. His face felt green and he was going to puke and he didn't know what to do so Andy ran after a Nainai who was increasingly suspicious of them to ask for her help. It was Andy who took a risk to save Jake and it was Andy who washed dishes for meagre wages just so Jake would eat proper food. No one had ever done that for him other than his mother. He never thought anyone would do that for him other than his mother. Jake, who had a history of not letting his friends into his house for fear of making fun of his home, now found home in a fifteen year old Chinese-Singaporean nerd washing dishes just to get him fed.
Anyways what I'm saying is that the next time Jake gets hurt or in trouble, his very body turning into the earth that was beneath his very feet, do you think he reached out for Andy subconsciously? He got so used to Andy with a solution, Andy with a plan, Andy trying, Andy just being here when Jake needed him that he felt that if he just reached out enough, Andy would meet him halfway. That when Jake fell, Andy would be there to catch him. Do you think when Jake opened his eyes as his body turned to rocks and stones and soil and earth, that he was expecting to see Andy there? Because I think the entire time his body froze, petrified, as he turned into a statue of himself, as he prepares to die and die scared he thinks silently: Andy is supposed to be here.
the mitski concert has like permanently altered my brain so uhh hark jake riles stay soft mitski edit upon yee
So close, yet so far from home
get em again for me i guess
unsaid emily is such a uniquely heartbreaking ballad in concept and it kills me that it's just faded to obscurity. they wrote a song about all the things a dead boy didn't get to say to his mother before he died. the last time he spoke to her was an argument. he has the voice of an angel. and it's all framed by a girl bringing the lyrics from his songbook to his mother 25 years after he died, to give her closure. what the fuck.
Can we stop with the character development. Where's my beach episode.
can we talk about will's dog going to sit in castle byers even in the rain because he can sense will's presence from the upside down because that was fucking heartbreaking
criticize s5 all you want but charlie heaton is/was one of the best actors on the show i swear
