I built myself a side snare last summer but I've only just bought a stand for it. Should maybe do that the other way round next time.

Back in the studio
We decided to take a week off over Christmas but today we got back on with writing and recording. Recording three different tracks at minute with another two still in the working.
Hopefully we’ll be able to get these down and a couple more then chose the one’s we’re happiest with and release an EP for you all in the new year and then it’s onto some live shows. Can’t wait. Stay tuned.

My band. Go follow us to keep up to dat with what I'm up to music making wise.
Pain
I once played a 45 minute set with a broken hand but I've just tried warming up while I've got a bruised thumb and wrist and that hurt 10 times more! I don't get it, surely a break is worse than a bruise.
New Kit
Gonna start looking for a new kit and possibly and new endorsement (seen as my last one ended in the summer) in the new year so need to start thinking of what I want.
Anyone seen anything cool out there on the market I may have missed?
The number 10 to commemorate ten years of drumming.
My first drum teacher told me that I would never be good enough to be a real drummer. Since then I’ve toured the UK a couple of times, recorded in one of the top studios in the country and been able to share the stage with a couple bands that inspired me to make music in the first place.
I don’t think that’s a bad CV really.
Rebloged from my personal page but still drum related I guess (:
My kit in the studio today looking good.
Hey man. Question. Is it suitable or "okay" to use one of my main cymbal boom mounts at an angle off to the side? Its was centered over the bass drum, but now I angled and adjusted it to closer to my floor tom. Is that okay to do? Sorry new drummer.
Hey dude or dudette. Do whatever the hell feels comfortable for you. I went through loads of different set ups when I was starting out, some good and some bloody awful and I still to this day sit and tweak my kit trying to get everything in the absolute perfect spot (if it ever happens I’ll probably die from the shock). If anyone tries telling you that your set up is “wrong” just tell them they're not the one that has to play it. Peace.
This is my set up from last night's show.
Last night was the last ever show with my band, Better Left Alone (RIP) and decided to go for the two snare set up for a bit of a change.
Main snare is a 14x6.5 maple and the side snare is my recently built 14x4 birch. Had great fun chopping and changing, adding a few break beats into different parts of songs.
Was an enjoyable night all round but it's now time for the next challenge.
Peace.
This is me trying out the new snare.
First time I've done a video like this so let me know what you think.
Peace.
Just done a little bit of recording with the new snare.
Now I've got to figure out how to edit sound and video together.
My new red and white birch snare.
14x4 birch shell, stained red topped off with powder coated white hardware and a 42 strand snare strap.
I love how it sounds so will take it into my practice room tomorrow and possibly do a bit of recording with it to show everyone.
Gimme a shout and let me know what you think of it.
Just tying up a few loose ends on this beauty.
Red stained birch shell with white powder coated hardware.
Will have more photos tomorrow when it's all done up properly. May even take it for a quick blast in the studio and see how it sounds at some point this week.
Love unwrapping freshly powder coated hardware!
Pictures coming soon (:
Finally got the new snare all mocked up.
The hardware isn't staying chrome (I'm not a huge fan of so much chrome on such a little drum) and all the bits are being powder coated get week.
Can't wait to give it a blast.
This arrived this morning. It's the throw off for the new snare.
It matches the lugs perfectly so as soon as I saw it I had to have it!
Now to get the shell all marked up and drilled.
Taken the masking tape off the shell now (was much more fun that putting it on) and I think it looks sweet!
This is the snare shell I'm working on at the minute.
14x4 birch shell with a cherry red stain. Need to decide what I'm doing with the hardware now though. Any suggestions?
