Early foreshadowing to Emily’s past: Part 1

You. Kids. I can see it. When Prentiss gazes out the window, there’s a slight smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, but you can also see tears in her eyes. You know she was thinking about Declan, about what she had to do to save his life. Every case involving children touches a nerve, but JJ’s comment caused a flood of bittersweet emotions. Emily is not one to break down easily by any means, but thinking about either of the Doyles hits her. Hard. Getting Intimate with a killer is… so different. Prentiss is visibly shaken after dealing with The Fox. Yes, flirting with a murderer is never fun, but that’s not why she’s so agitated. Having to toy with a psychopath’s emotions is a very familiar experience, and i’m guessing it brought back painful memories of Ian Doyle. Emily is also the goto agent for undercover work and schmoozing with suspected unsubs. I guess we now know why she’s so damn good at it. You came off a desk job. Right. ‘“Desk Job”. Both Hotch and JJ are rightfully suspicious about how an inexperienced field agent, whose never even seen blood before, is an expert at dealing with it. Emily is also extremely flustered and it takes her awhile to think of a semi-convincing answer. This marks one of the first times she’s had to lie to her new team (and it definitely won’t be the last). She’ll get better at it over time.
