Business of Film Mastery Journal
• What were your original goals for this class, as you created them in Mastery? My goals that I created from my Mastery class were to learn marketing of films, to learn more about networking and to learn more about film festivals.
• Did you meet those goals? Why or why not?I did in fact meet those goals for the class of business of film. Because I took notes about every subject that was discussed in the class, I also did a little bit of research on film festivals and which film fest is worth going to cheap and save the ones that are not cheap and save them for another time.
• What did you learn about yourself as a filmmaker this month? And what did you learn about case studies? I myself learned a lot about case study, as a filmmaker it is very important that I learned about case study in this class. Because I needed to learn about what to look for if and when I want to look in to working with a studio. I needed to know which studio is worth working for and make sure that I get myself into some kind of trouble. I am so glad that I was able to research different studios during class.
• What do you need to continue to work on in?I believe that I need to keep working on case studies of film festivals. Because I need to be able to find what works about the film festivals and what doesn’t work. Even if I have to do a lot more research on those film festivals. But if there is not a lot of information on that certain film festival then it is probably not worth looking in to, just need to move on to the next film festival and research them.
• Whether you want to be a filmmaker or not, how might you apply the class content to your life, either professionally or personally? As a filmmaker I will use all of what I learned in class and put it towards real life work, so when I do get a job anywhere I can do the research of that company first.
•If you could go back to the beginning of the month and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be and why?If I could go back to the beginning of this class and give myself a piece of advice, I would probably ask about what to do at a networking event since it was my very first networking event that I went to.

Mastery Journal Post-Production
My goals that was for this month in Post- Production was to learn more on editing, learn more on Final Cut Pro and learn Compressor. Well to be honest I did learn a lot more in editing and what companies use for their films. Which there are many companies that use different types of software to do their edits. Like for one software that is use a lot in the film industry is called Avid. I never heard of Avid, nor knew nothing about it. Until I went into Post-Production and started to learn more about it and how to use it. Now I am a little bit still new to that software so it will take more time to learn more about it.
To be honest I would rather work in Final Cut Pro, because I know where everything is in that software. But I need to know more about Avid and how it works if I work more in it, so that I know where everything will be. Also, to figure out where everything is in that software and how to use it better. The only thing that I didn’t learn about was Compressor, we kind of talked about it.
But never went over it, but that is okay because I got a lot of information on Avid and I am very happy that I did. Even though it keeps crashing on me, but that is something that I will have to live with. I am so glad that we went over what other films use Avid and what cameras are good to use. What ratio is good to use when you want to film your film, if you want to use 2k or if you want to use the 4k on your films. There is still a lot that I need to learn about cameras, Avid, trailers etc.
I also loved reading about other directors and what they did. Like when I watched two videos on Robert Rodriguez and when he does in films. I like watching things about people I admire. Robert says “that you can take a video storyboard because it can help you in the long run, only if you can’t draw that well.” He used to be a cartoonist so he did his own drawings when he didn’t have a production team when he does have them he uses that video storyboard.
