“Oh, I get it - cause people don’t believe you’re really one, right?” she laughed. “It could be worse, I mean, if you were as small as me, they’d be asking where are your parents,” she teased. Her teeth tugged at her lower lip a little, looking up at him with a smile. She was honestly so glad to be there, and already knew she wasn’t going to want to leave at the end of the weekend. Mia was oblivious to way he saw her, to any feelings he might have for her. She didn’t think it was possible for someone like him, for anyone really, to want her. Deep down, Mia worried she was too messed up for that.
“Don’t get too excited. I’m not that good,” she admitted with a laugh, “Mostly, I know simple recipes.” There was a lot to do around the city, she knew that much, but really had no idea what, exactly. She knew the library and the beach, that was mostly it. She figured he might have plans in mind, but wasn’t sure. “You want to read to me?” she teased, “Um, a movie sounds good,” she let out a breath. “To be honest, I - I haven’t seen movies in a few years so I don’t know what to pick. Don’t laugh, but the last movie I saw was…” she had to really think about it for a few moments, “Tangled? Yeah, that was it cause my mom took us to the movie theater. We were so excited,” she smiled a few moments before it faded. “Sorry, um, so, really, any movie is good. I probably haven’t seen it.”
“No not really. I get a lot of suspicious looks when I tell people that I am.” Being young and looking younger did him no favors in his field of work but Sullivan never cared how others perceived. As long as he could do his job that was all that really mattered. “I remember getting that a lot when I was still in medical school.” That had been more of a jibe from his fellow interns but he never minded the friendly teasing. Chuckling, he was glad that the conversation was still flowing naturally between them. He worried that renting her might change things but it was still as normal as before.
“That’s fine, I can always help.” Since his work always kept him busy, Sullivan rarely made use of his cooking skills, especially since it never felt the same cooking for only one person. With Mia here that wouldn’t be a problem but he also genuinely wanted to try whatever she would make. “I wouldn’t mind it,” he answered seriously. “We?” He asked, wondering if she had any siblings. “Well, tangled was good from what I heard but superhero movies are more my speed rather than Disney. But I also watch a lot of documentaries so unless you want to be bored to death you’ll have to help me choose,” he joked. Moving to the living room, he grabbed the remote to bring up Netflix, figuring that would be the easiest way to find something that they would both enjoy.
