“Um,” she speaks up carefully, doing as she usually does and speaking low. “If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you...?”

    With parents consisting of a Japanese descendant and an Englishwoman, Ryuunosuke has always been the odd one out growing up. Still, her life remained normal aside from her social isolation.      Then, not long after her eighteenth birthday, chaos descended. While out running errands, explosions rang out and screams filled the air. She fled with others, only to find herself cornered by the malicious creations known as Akuma. A whip from a destroyed shop found its way into her hands, having now taken on a mystical shape. Still, she wasn't one filled with courage or the will to fight. Yet before she had to she was saved by Exorcists, who quickly realized she was the Accomodator of the Innocence both they and the Akuma were after — the whip.      While on her way to the Black Order, she decides to change herself. She begins dressing as a male, taking full advantage of her masculine name and boyish form. As time passes however she finally begins to fully blossom, and it becomes harder and harder to keep up appearances. She's torn between the two parts of herself: the facade she's confident wearing, and the woman she truly is.      At points she does indeed dress as a woman, going by the name Yuu Johnson and playing the role of a mere grunt of the Order. Typically, however, she plays the role of a man, donning a short wig and carefully adjusting her behavior.

Masaomi closed the belt of his pants before throwing his towel on a chair and throwing a pink buttoned shirt on his shoulders.

― It doesn’t matter since I don’t want to fight right? Why would other Masters go after me since I have no adopted Neko or… whatever? This sounds like a manga…”

He raised his head… and his expression softened, realizing he must have sounded cynical for something that was important to her. Masaomi stopped buttoning his shirt to reach for Ryuu’s head, stroking behind her ears to make her purr.

― … sorry, I’m just… this sounds pretty complicated, but I can’t help it. What would be the best thing to do to protect me, then? By accepting you calling me Master and all, didn’t I… well accept you?”

If only she had answers for him. But... she heard, of the mysterious people after both Neko and Masters alike. She herself had no idea why anyone would want to eliminate them, or why even Neko would be a part of their cause, but...

“If only people cared whether others want to fight or not,” she smiled, sadly, and her smile only grew as she felt her heart sink at his next words. She could understand his doubts, but from him? Someone in this city doubted it all, doubted her and her life? It hurt, especially coming from the one who was her Master.

Still, she couldn’t help the way some of her tension eased at Masaomi’s touch; just as she couldn’t help the pleased purr that rumbled in her chest. She gave him another smile, wishing there was something she could do to ease his nerves, as well.

“You may have accepted me, but...” she licked her lips, thinking of the best way to explain it. “You didn’t— You haven’t officially ‘adopted’ me, so to speak. In order to do that, we-well... We have to, ah...”

“We’ll have to kiss.”

― I didn’t just liked him at some point, y’know, I…” Saki caressed his cheek, making him stop to talk. ― Just like me, Masaomi… don’t worry, you’re not the only one.”

Even if the blond seemed sad, his heart was warm. Warm by Saki’s presence and the feeling of being able to talk over it.

― … they touched you didn’t they?” ― …” Saki stayed silent. “… please, don’t think about Izaya’s smile while I was…”

He knew the answer, but he wanted to confirm it, at least. Then suddenly, Saki moved her head to the side, looking at a certain silhouette.

― Your shadow is showing behind you.” She smiled. “You can come out. Are you one of Masaomi’s friend?”

Masaomi turned around… and then his eyes widened. Of course he would recognize her presence anywhere.

― … Ryuu..?!”

She jumped in surprise, eyes shooting open as she was torn from the story. Saki couldn’t have noticed her, could she...? Yet, as she waited for a few moments, no one else came out of hiding.

So, she had been found out, hadn’t she?

A light, nervous, almost ashamed laugh escaped her as she approached, cheeks dusted with a blush and heart racing with nerves. It’d been a long while since she was this nervous, just walking over to someone — not with how Masaomi...

“Masa-kun...” a hand rose, to toy with her pendant — her new pendant. It had been some time since she’d last called Masaomi by her nickname for him, but it seemed rather fitting, giving her current anxiousness. Her gaze flickered over to the other woman, and she offered her a smile as she dipped in the smallest of bows. “It’s... It’s Ryuunosuke, by the way.”

She looked back at the blond, and she gave him a part-apologetic, part-embarrassed smile. “Sorry about... well. About intruding? I can go, if you’d like.”

Hearing the redhead’s response had set the blond completely off-edge. He wasn’t just angry at the kidnappers that had hurt her, he was angry at himself for not saving her in time. Punching the ground in anger, the entire house had shook as thankfully, the punch was slightly muted by the carpet. “Tsk…” He didn’t even elaborate on why he was so angry, it was quite obvious on why he was. 

It had taken him a minute to settle down but the sound of sheer fury still stayed within his tone. “If I find those bastards, they’re fucking dead. Alright?” He assured the redhead that he’d get rid of the problem but, there’s no telling where would they be especially after Shizuo completely raiding their hideout. “And I’m not fucking jokin’, I hope ya know that. They hurt you, dammit. And I could’ve been there for ya but I had work and… God damn it all!” He punched the carpeted floor once again with the sound of a crack heard from somewhere. But he didn’t even pay attention to where as he was so pissed off. There was one boundary that no one should cross when it came to Shizuo and that boundary was hurting one of his close friends.

“They’re gonna fucking pay.”

She was shaken along with the house, but only in the literal sense. Ryuu swallowed, tears brimming her vision once again. She forced them to stay back. Despite his rage she remained docile, unafraid and merely concerned for her friend despite everything that had happened. Carefully she reached out, gently setting her hands over his white-knuckled fist.

“It’s okay. I mean,” she hurried to elaborate, knowing how it must have sounded. “I know it’s not but... I’m okay now. You still saved me. Maybe you didn’t know as soon as it had happened, but... you saved me before they could do anything else. You saved me, period. I know you’re worried and angry and God knows what else, but... just focus on what you did do, okay?”

She smiled at him, genuinely. In a mix of reassurance and sadness. She believed her words, but... nothing either of them could do could change what had happened.

Staring off into space as Ryuunosuke helped with his gauze, the bandages had fallen as it had caught the blond straight to attention. Hearing the sound of agony release out of the redhead’s lips, Shizuo had approached closer to hold the redhead steady, looking down at her with a rather worried expression. There definitely was an injury… wasn’t there? Glancing down at the woman’s fingertips, the ex-bartender had made his way to gently push up the fabrication of the shirt without permission as mocha hues widened at the sight. There was definitely a dark purple bruise. Fury had risen in an instant as Shizuo clenched his fist and gritted his teeth. “Those damn bastards…” He thought back to recall their uniform color so he could potentially track them down for revenge. “They fucking hurt you, dammit. I fucking knew it.” He had known that they wouldn’t let her off so easily. “Tsk… Take it easy. Just… Sit down.” And despite the harsh tone emitting from his very lips, he had shown some type of care for the other. “I’m gonna fucking kill ‘em, don’t ya worry. Do you feel pain anywhere else?”

She bit down on her lip, part to keep back a noise of surprise but mostly to keep back a noise of pain. Ryuu grimaced at the sight, the wound seeming to throb even more harshly now that she could see the damage. Guilt stirred in her gut —because not only was he so worried about her, but he was going to go to so much trouble and potentially get in trouble for her— but it wasn’t enough to make her speak up.

“Ye-Yeah...” she admitted quietly, head ducking. She couldn’t look at him; she dreaded his reaction. One wound was one thing, but.. just how upset would he get at finding out the extent of her injuries? She wasn’t afraid of him, but rather afraid for him — scared of the pain he’d surely feel for her. There was a lump in her throat. Ryuu forced the next word out, voice emerging as strained and weak. “Everywhere...”
