i literally could not stop cackling when percy asks if reader & luke are engaged. poor boy seemed so confused when reader said no & genuinely didn’t know the rule of thumb when throwing an apple 😭

Yay you’re back! We missed you!!! How is Oskar doing leading up to the arrival of his new sibling? And how did mom and William tell him?

ahh i missed y’all as well! glad to be back 💗

reader & william informed oskar about reader’s condition almost immediately. he kept asking questions as to why his mom was always sick in the morning, but wasn’t running a fever or stuffy.

oskar’s a smart kid. he’s very observant so when he started to notice that william allowed reader to sleep in longer, eat whatever weird food she wanted and that she was no longer fitting certain clothes. he became worried that something was wrong, especially when his pappa told him to be more patient & careful with his mama.

they sat him down one day after pre-k & asked him what he knew about babies, what babies were and how he came to be. he wasn’t too sure as he’s still quite young & haven’t really thought about it before.

they wanted to ease him into it a bit & have a more mature conversation with him regarding what was going on. eventually, they broke the news and told oskar that he would be a big brother soon.

“there’s a person in mama’s belly?” oskar curiously asked, gently poking his mothers stomach as she held him tight.

“well, not exactly. at least, not yet,” william gently explained, gently combing through his sons wild curls. “it’s currently just some cells in mama’s belly that will grow to be a human once she’s far enough along. it’s quite a long process, bear.”

oskar’s eyes seemed to glow in amazement, in awe at the fact that his mother was able to grow something so big from something so small.

“how long?” he asked, turning his head to william.

“almost a year, buddy,” his father replied, laughing softly at oskar’s bewildered expression.

“i don’t know if i can wait that long,” oskar muttered, putting his ear up to readers stomach in an attempt to hear anything.

“me either, ossie,” william replied back as he pulled his family into his arms.

“i’ll try my best,” he whispered. “i’ll be the best big brother.”

and at that, reader & william’s heart grew tenfold. they knew he was going to be okay with the new adjustments and changes. and if not, they’d be there to hear him out & try with him.

so, nonetheless, oskar is stoked to have a sibling. he literally told everyone he saw the next day, proudly flaunting off the fact that he’s going to be a big brother.

he’s already gotten names & nicknames picked out for them (although reader & william have sat him down & repeatedly told him that sugar plum & megatron aren’t actual names to give new babies + future individuals).

oskar’s taking the change in strides. and he obviously has bad days, but both reader & william are there to help & comfort him about it. he’s such a good sport about it & is excited to see what life holds for him & his new sibling.

hiii!! it’s good to be back, even if it’s only for a bit since i’m super busy with university & my extra curriculars. but, i’ll try to update when i can!

currently, reader is almost six months! so technically five months & some odd weeks.

the team does know! other than loved ones & family, the sharks were the first to be informed due to some changes that william had to bring up after his contract renewal.

everyone is super supportive & can’t wait for baby eklund #2! especially macklin & will (including michael misa) as they absolutely adore ossie <3

(i am so sorry for literally not updating anything these past couple of months, it’s been literal hell for me & i started university back up 😭)

it’s a surprise! much like their last pregnancy, reader & william wanted the gender to be a surprise (though that was spoiled by a very excited nurse on accident).

i already have a gender predetermined, but that’ll be a surprise for you guys once i write the birth of baby eklund #2 💗

so, you’ll just have to wait and see :)

I honestly can’t see will as a girl dad

personally, i can see william as a girl dad. the picture of him holding wennberg’s daughter just exudes girl dad energy. idk, it just gives me that vibe

i also think william just exudes dad energy, no matter the gender.

i mentioned this in an earlier thought regarding how oskar would feel in this situation with the new baby.

i think he’d be excited at first upon hearing the news, and then become confused because he (obviously) doesn’t know where babies come from. reader & william probably come up with some age appropriate excuse (still thinking of what that could be since another anon asked about it) for oskar.

i think he would be upset once he realizes that a lot of his parents attention will be directed towards the newborn instead of him. but, most children experience this anyway.

reader & william are aware of this & will actively work with their firstborn to try to alleviate his feelings. spending one-on-one time with him & doing activities that he enjoys while the new baby is asleep is something the two are already planning on doing.

how he feels won’t obviously go away over night and it will be a process, but reader & william already know that and are prepared to work on that.

overall, oskar will experience a lot of fluctuating feelings and at the end of the day, i think oskar will be thrilled about the new baby even with his complicated & new emotions.

i think, and feel, oskar’s going to be like any other kid and have some mixed feelings/emotions about the whole thing.

he may not understand fully what this means for the family or how it even happened, so it’s going to be tough for his little four-year-old brain to wrap around.

but i don’t think he’ll hate the new baby (or for long). he may struggle with feeling like his parents no longer have care or love him anymore because they have to put a lot of their attention on the new baby.

& obviously reader & william know the potential feelings oskar may have with this situation so they’ll try their best to have periods of times throughout the day where they reassure oskar about the situation & spend some time with him, especially when the new baby is asleep.

having a new sibling on the way is hard and difficult, but i think oskar will be no different than any other child in the situation. he’ll come around quickly to the idea but that doesn’t mean he isn’t immune to certain feelings/emotions regarding having a new sibling.

You threw up. Again.

It was the third time this morning, the bathroom floor now becoming practically a second home to you as you barely left the room all morning.

“What’s wrong, Mamma?” Oskar asked, his tiny hand grasping your hair in a ponytail as you still leaned over the toilet seat while the other rubbed your back comfortingly.

You only groaned in response, reaching out to flush the toilet.

“Älskling? (Darling?)” William asks, peaking his head into the bathroom, sleep still heavy on his eyes as he rubbed them. “What’s wrong? You still throwing up?”

“Yes, Pappa,” Oskar answered for you. “I try to help. Rub her back like you, Pappa.”

William gently smiled down at his son as he entered the bathroom, sitting down on the floor with the two of you.

“Is that right, Ossie? Well, I know another way you can help,” William offered, patting down the wild and unruly curls of the four-year-old. “Why don’t you go downstairs and get the living room ready for a movie day? It might help Mamma feel better.”

At the suggestion of movie day and helping his Mother feel better, Oskar enthusiastically nodded and clumsily saluted before rushing out of the bathroom and down the stairs.

“How long you’ve been sick?” William asks, turning back towards you and pushing back the stray hair that fell in front of your face.

“Since I woke. Can’t keep anything down,” you replied, leaning into the comfortable warmth of your husband. “Don’t have a fever and I tested for COVID. Negative.”

William hummed in acknowledgment, wrapping his arms around you and resting his lips on the crown of your forehead.

A few moments passed before you slowly sat up, not from the need to puke but from a moment of realization.

“What day is it?” You asked, a slight distant look in your eyes.

William furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, hand rubbing your back. “Saturday, why?”

A sinking feeling settled in your stomach as the main possible reason you’re currently sick pops into your head. You’re late. Very late.

“I’m late,” you replied, mentally tallying the days since your last period.

It had been a near forty days since you last had your period back in May. With the draft and traveling back to Sweden and back to California made all the days blur together and you lose track of your period and birth control.

“You’re late? For what?” William asked, concern lacing his voice.

“My period,” you whispered.

The man before you froze, his hand stilling in its movements. It took him a while to process what you meant as his eyes widened.

“You want to test? Do we even have tests? Want me to go get some?” He rambled, slight panic in his voice as he sat up straighter and pulled you closer in response. “I can get some right now if you don’t know or don’t want to look.”

You smiled gently at his offer, shaking your head as you placed a hand on his knee. “We have some in the cabinet underneath the sink, Will.”

He merely nodded before bolting up and practically diving towards the cabinet, swinging open the doors and rummaging through the contents. He grabbed the first handful of tests he saw and brought them out.

“I can definitely get more if this isn’t enough,” he noted, the multiple pregnancy tests scattering onto the sink counter.

“It should be fine,” you answered, standing up and settling yourself by your husbands side. “Only need a couple.”

William only hummed, eyes never leaving the side of your face as you looked at the various of tests you had collected over the years.

“Want me to leave you to your business? Keep Bear occupied for a bit,” the Swedish man asked, fingers gently brushing themselves through your hair.

You nodded, knowing that it would be best for your son and husband to be occupied for a bit. William is known to get antsy during your pregnancy scare tests. It would be better to have him busy himself with a task during the wait.

“M’kay, älskade. Just text me when times up,” William commented, kissing your cheek a handful of times before exiting the bathroom, throwing one last look of comfort over his shoulder.

Holy shit, you think. Every test you took that’s sitting in front of you are telling you that you’re pregnant.

Now, by having Oskar so young, neither you or William wanted kids so soon after him. But it had been a complete four years since you had your son. Neither of you had the talk about other kids yet, wanting to still soak up the time with just Oskar.

Just before you reached for your phone to notify William, a soft knock sounded at the bathroom door.

“Käraste?” William pokes his head into the bathroom. “All done?”

You hum in agreement, stepping to the side a bit as he entered and softly shut the door.

William short circuit at all the tests laid out, all positive. He slowly blinked once. Twice. Thrice before looking at you with slight tears in his eyes.

“Really?” He softly asks, his voice cracking from the emotion laced within it. “You’re — We’re pregnant?”

You smiled and nodded, same tears in your eyes as you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing him into your front.

William wrapped both his arms around your back and buried his face in your neck. He brought you so close to him that he lifted you off the ground a few inches.

“I hope it’s a girl this time,” he whispered, his lips tickling the skin of your neck.

And that’s when you knew that William wasn’t bothered at all by the news. And that he’d be the best Father once again, doing everything in his power to make it all work out like it did the first time around.

it was her & william’s final year of schooling.

she hadn’t been feeling well the past couple of weeks. reader never got sick or got frequently ill as a child so she just chalked it up to a cold when she started to puke every morning, felt tired 24/7, and crampy.

it wasn’t until she realized she had missed her period for a near three months that she realized what it could truly be.

due to it being readers final year of schooling, a lot of pressure was put on her to do and perform well not just by herself but also by her parents. she had decided to take some advanced coursework so she could finish off the year strong.

she had been so caught up with school and coursework that she didn’t realize she had missed her period for weeks.

reader freaked out at first, feeling like she couldn’t reach out for her parents for help or advice. so, she went to a local clinic to get herself checked out.

she didn’t tell william at first just in case it was a fluke. she has missed a period or two due to stress before. but, she never had the sickness or ill feeling with it.

the doctor/nurse that helped her confirmed that she was pregnant, giving her a slew of options if she chose to keep it or not.

reader most definitely came home crying that day as she was conflicted on what to do. she knew her parents wouldn’t be as supportive as william’s due to them still having “american” ideals. so, she kept it to herself for a bit until her head cleared up.

eventually, she comes clean to william’s step-mother & mother (separately). they both offer up their support no matter what she chooses. additionally, they both help her with hiding it from her parents.

when reader comes clean to william, it’s not too long after she discovered she was pregnant.

“what is this?” he asked, the words on the piece of paper in his hands confusing him. there was a bunch of medical jargon on there that he did not understand.

“look at the top,” she whispered, teeth anxiously nipping at the skin around her nails.

william does so and nearly short circuits (he literally glitches in real life).

“you’re…pregnant?” he whispered, like the word would shatter everything around him. “like, really pregnant?”

reader simply nodded, tears brimming at her waterline as she awaited her boyfriends reaction. the both of them are only eighteen and were not ready to take care of a child just yet.

william didn’t say anything and simply gathered the reader into his arms, stroking her hair as she silently cried into his neck.

“we’ll figure this out, älskling,” he whispered as tears of his own gathered in his waterline.

don’t get him wrong, william was ecstatic at the news. but it was at a point in both of their lives where it wasn’t exactly ideal to have a child. in just a few months time, both reader and william would graduate from their studies and william would be off god-knows-where to pursue his love for hockey.

“it’ll all be okay. i promise,” he added, rocking the both of them from side to side.

his reaction was slow at first. but he expressed his excitement and happiness soon enough when he & reader agreed to carry the pregnancy to term.

william always kept a hand on her at all times. whether that be a hand on her back during walks. or intertwining their fingers together during study hall. or cuddling up to her as they both spend time with the eklund family out in the living room. he never let reader out of his sight if he could help it.

readers parents were not happy and suggested she stay at william’s for a bit.

the eklund family obviously welcomed her with open arms and hearts full of love. they helped her with whatever she needed and had no troubles with aiding her.

william moved her into his room and even took a majority of her stuff (decor, sheets, stuffies, etc.) from her house into his so she wouldn’t feel as homesick or sad regarding the situation. his room had been brightly colored for a few months as reader moved in, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

his childhood room is still decorated in some of readers things (posters, pillows, etc.).

to this day, william still holds a grudge against his in-laws for treating reader the way they did (as he should!).

overall, it was a pretty nerve wracking process at first. but william insisted it was all going to be okay and made sure that was going to happen.

Do will and mom ever have a 2nd pregnancy scare ?

reader & william did have a second pregnancy scare around a year or so after they had oskar.

reader had begun to feel extremely tired and nauseous all the time, puking a few times in the morning after waking up. feeling a bit lethargic.

she didn’t feel sick at all, in regards to feeling physically sick/ill.

reader’s period was late, which wasn’t normal as it’s usually consistent and on time.

it wasn’t necessarily a big deal since the two already had a child together. but, it was still nerve wracking having to take the test and wait for it.

poor william was a little stressed about the whole thing since it was so soon to have a another child. he had busied himself with oskar outside the bathroom door while reader has taken the test.

it does end up being negative & reader gets her period a week later.

definitely not the last time they get a scare tho lol

You and Oskar had been in the stands when it happened.

The two of you weren’t up against the glass like usual so neither of you were able to see what actually happened. Only that William had gotten injured and was quickly escorted off the ice with half of the medical team behind him.

When it was announced that he had taken a skate to the wrist, your heart dropped to your ass and through the floor. You knew how dangerous an injury to the wrist could be.

Oskar hadn’t been made aware of the severity of the injury and only knew that his Pappa needed to go to the hospital and get checked by the doctors.

“Pappa’s okay, right Mamma?” Oskar mumbled, face buried in the crook of your neck as the two of you sat in the family waiting room. William had already been admitted into surgery to check if it hit any nerves and stitch him up.

It had been too quiet for multiple minutes until your son spoke up, Christian and Victor looking towards the little boy.

“Yeah. Of course, Ossie Bear,” you replied, pushing back some of his curls as he pulled his face away from your neck.

Some of the media personnel had called you shortly after the game to inform you that they had taken William to the hospital and that there was no blood on the ice, so he was most likely going to be alright.

“They just need to make sure everything works,” Victor added on.

Oskar only hummed at his uncles response as he placed his head on your shoulder, his soft hair tickling your neck.

More minutes passed until a doctor walks into the waiting room calling out Eklund.

You scrambled up from your seat a little too fast, your son tightening his grip on your neck as you stood up.

The doctor informed all of you that everything looked good and William was lucky the skate blade didn’t hit anything major. And that he most likely won’t be able to continue playing in worlds.

“He’s in the last room at the end of the hall to the left,” she added, smiling softly at the handful of you before excusing herself.

The entire room let out a breath of relief, beginning to make their way towards the room they were holding William in.

“Hey,” Christian whispered out into the dimly lit room, the sight of his son on the hospital bed groggy from the pain meds and anesthesia. “How ‘ya feeling, kid?”

William goofily smiles at the lot of you as you all enter, mumbling something incoherent before gently reaching out for Oskar and you.

“Hi, Pappa,” Oskar whispered, copying his grandfathers prior actions in being soft spoken. “Mamma and I got you something to not make you sad anymore.”

Albeit the drugs running its course through his system, William managed to sit up a little as he brought Oskar closer to his side, both parties weary of his injured hand. His eyes lit up at his son’s comment though, smile getting even wider, displaying his teeth.

“Yeah? What’d you get me, mitt hjärta?” He asked, voice slightly raspy.

Oskar looked towards you and the bag on your shoulder, reaching out for the gift hazardously stuffed into your purse.

“Ossie picked it out,” you spoke. “Thought it would make you feel better about everything.”

A white, fluffy duck was presented to the hockey player. Within the stuffed animals arms was a small duckling.

“Oh, bear,” William proclaimed, taking the gift in his uninjured hand and settling it in his lap. Eyes wide in appreciation and awe.

“It’s me and you, Pappa!” Oskar exclaimed, disregarding the soft noise level that had been established earlier. “I’m the little one and you’re the big one!”

“He told me it reminded him of the two of you,” you added, gently patting down your son’s curls.

The entire room silently awed and cooed as William and his son experienced a heart felt moment.

“Thank you, Ossie,” William croaked out, truly thankful for his son’s thoughtfulness. “Best gift I’ve ever received.”

Oskar’s eyes lit up at that, giggle a little as he gently laid himself against his Fathers chest and hugged him.

William held his son and the stuffed duck against his chest with his non injured hand, softly kissing Oskar’s head.

And as he held Oskar and the rest of his family mumbled to him and amongst themselves, William turned his eyes towards you, displaying the disappointment and sadness he truly felt but was hesitant to express in front of others.

You gave your husband a reassuring look that told him everything was going to be okay, both of your hands delicately grasping one of his biceps as you leaned over and placed a fleeting kiss onto William’s forehead.

You knew it might be a frustrating healing journey for William. But you also knew that his determination and stubbornness was stronger. And as long as he had you, Oskar, and the rest of his family, you knew he’d be alright.

summary: the reader is down for the count with the “period flu” and jamie is there to help make her feel better.

note: i was in the throes of the “period flu”/24 hour flu months ago & it was literally the worst thing ever. this has been sitting in my drafts for eternity. please enjoy <3

It started off as a headache at first.

Initially, you thought it was because of your hairstyle. You had thrown your hair into a ponytail before leaving for work that morning. The tightness being the first thing you noticed when you walked to the office.

As the day progressed and after a million times of adjusting your hair, the headache got worse and your throat began to itch. And worst of all, you got your period an hour after arriving at work, having to ask your fellow co-worker for any menstrual product they had.

Seeing as you obviously didn’t feel well and your performance wasn’t up to par that day, your boss sent you home early and advised that you get some rest.

And that’s what leads us to the present — you sitting on the couch curled in a thousand different blankets as the ache spread from your head to the rest of your body, rendering you sore and completely immobile. Even your eyes hurt, too painful to movie and watch whatever’s on the small television in your apartment.

The soft jingles of familiar keys echoed throughout the apartment, unlocking the door to reveal your boyfriend, Jamie.

The hockey player stopped in his tracks as he closed the door behind him, the sight of you curled up on the couch underneath every blanket the apartment held surprised him. You didn’t get sick often or easily, so seeing you out for the count concerned the man.

“Baby?” He asked, dropping his keys in the little bowl by the door. “You okay? Why are you buried underneath these blankets? It’s been warm all day.”

Attempting to talk hurt your jaw and throat, resulting in you letting out a pathetic and small whine. You buried yourself deeper into your makeshift pile of blankets as another chill spread throughout your body.

Jamie frowned at the sound you made, squatting by the end of the couch where he assumed your head was, gently pulling back the soft material to see your face.

“Don’t feel good, baby?” He asked, softly rubbing his thumb against your brow bone.

You nodded lightly and sighed heavily, the medication you took earlier not helping with your aches at all.

Jamie frowned and nodded in response, leaning forward to press a kiss to the crown of your head. “I’ll make you some soup and tea if you want. Turn off the heater too,” he offered. “Some fresh air might be good later if you’re up to move.”

Without waiting for your response, Jamie got up from his position and made his way to the kitchen, turning off the heater on his way.

“Thank you,” you croaked out, sitting up a bit so you could properly see your boyfriend in the kitchen. Tears brimming at your waterline.

Jamie turned to tell you it was no problem as it was one of his responsibilities as your partner, but cut himself short when he saw you crying, rushing back towards you.

“I don’t feel good. Felt like shit all day,” you cried into the crook of his neck once he brought you into his arms. “And I got my period on top of being sick. Worst day ever.”

Jamie only held you tighter as if he could transfer your pain to him. He gently stroked the back of your head and brought you into his lap.

“Is there anything you need me to get at the store for you? Extra products? Ibuprofen? Chocolate?” He asked, rubbing your back in hopes of easing whatever aches you felt.

You shook your head as you stayed in the same position, feeling slightly better now that you were in your boyfriend’s arms. Melting deeper into his embrace.

Eventually, you feel asleep in Jamie’s arms, snoring away as your body finally let you rest. And he didn’t move an inch, continuing to rub your back as he held you.

He’d figure out a way eventually to get you into your bed safely and soundly without waking you up so he could prepare the soup and tea for when you awoke. But now, he just sat there with you in his embrace, happy he could at least help in aiding you in falling asleep.

How was Oskar’s experience at the draft?

(i don’t know much about the after process of the draft, so apologies if there are inaccuracies or inconsistencies regarding that. congratulations to victor for going 16th in the first round! super proud & happy for the eklund brothers <3)

restless.

he was restless the entire time. every time they would move onto the next pick, he would squeal and say that victor was going to get picked this time.

he’s climbing over his mom, over william. until he reaches victor & sits in his lap, talking about how excited he was to be there & to see him play with his dad (or against him).

“will you and pappa fight on the ice?” he asked.

“depends. if he checks me, it’s over. the gloves are coming off,” victor joked as he watched the draft progress.

william obviously side-eyed his brother and laughed at his response, shaking his head.

oskar hoped that victor would be drafted to the sharks so he could see him every day instead of only during vacations or whenever william had a long enough break to take all three of them back to sweden. victor’s his favorite uncle (not including zetterlund). he holds a special place in his heart for victor.

when the 10th pick rolls around, oskar’s buzzing in his seat in the readers lap. he remembers his parents talking about the significance of the 10th pick & victor. but when his name isn’t announced, he deflates a little, looking over to his pappa for an explanation.

william would explain to him that the 10th draft spot isn’t guaranteed for anyone even if they’re projected to go that high up in the draft (unless they’re in the top 5, then it’s almost guaranteed they’re going at that time/pick). that it was an assumption or estimation of where someone would fall based on their skills and just the order of which team went when.

eventually when the new york islanders approached the stage with their announcement for the 16th pick, oskar had traveled to his fathers grasp and watched quietly as they talked on the screen.

but when victor’s name was announced, he screamed in excitement as william jumped up in celebration. oskar was lightly shook & jumbled in his fathers arms as everyone stood up and celebrated.

after victor hugged his older brother & sister-in-law, he takes oskar into his arms & holds him so tightly.

oskar mumbles a congratulations & that they’ll hopefully be able to see each other more now that they’ll be in the same place (relatively). victor sniffles a little at that & says, “of course, ossie! you’re my favorite eklund after all.”

after victor puts on the jersey and takes pictures and everything is wrapped up, victor puts his hat onto oskar’s head & holds him for nearly the rest of the night only letting go when reader threatens to not allow oskar to sleep over in his room that night as it was planned (oskar literally begged on his hands & knees to spend one last sleepover with his uncle before he leaves to wherever for summer training).

eventually, the excitement of the entire night tired oskar out, him falling asleep in william’s arms as they continued to mingle about as victor spent some time talking with the coaches and managers of the islanders.

when it’s time for the family of three to start making their way, victor mumbles a gentle see you later into oskar’s unruly curls, promising to see him the next morning & have their last sleepover the night before he has to leave for training.

overall, oskar was stoked for draft night & seeing his uncle follow in the footsteps of his pappa. poor kid tired himself out from all the anticipation & excitement by the end of the night.
