"And it’s not just substance abuse; perfectionism has also been linked to eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety and depression. If you can play bingo with these problems when you look back at your life and haven’t suffered some trauma that helps explain them, you’re probably a perfectionist. " Hi, my name is Danielle and I am a perfectionist... I find comfort in reading articles like this. They open windows into the workings of my own mind, they remind me that I am not alone in my battle, that other people suffer as much if not more then me. I often feel alone in my struggle, like no one understands, but deep down I know this isn't true. I know I am not the saddest persons on the planet, that in all reality I am one of the more fortunate souls. I hope through continued medication, therapy, and personal growth I will one day find enough peace within myself to be healthy enough to help others do the same.
I committed to saving change for the duration of Lent, then matching it and donating the money to a good cause. While Easter came and went I was stumped on what to do with my money. Then I read an article posted by a friend of mine of FB and immediately knew who needed this money the most. While I may be childless and 32, most women my age are not and many are struggling everyday to meet the most basic needs of their children. It hurt my heart to read that children are being left in dirty diapers as a means to save money and the pain this is causing their parents for having to make that decision. So yesterday I dropped off diapers and wipes at the Center for Food Action in Ringwood.
Step forward out of your own lingering residual sense of smallness, take up every inch of life that is your blessed inheritance, and DO YOUR THING.
