What it says on the tin, another MCYT confessions blog! Because I wanted to submit a confession and it took me far too long to find an active one. MCYT is a little inaccurate because I mostly only know DSMP, but I’ll get to that in a second.

Submission Guidelines

While DSMP is the most preferred media, I’ll also accept submissions from the following since I know who at least some of the CCs are in it:

BITSMP

OSMP

This blog is heavy on C and CC separation, and your ask may be deleted if you don’t specify or at least heavily imply which you are talking about. On that note, asks that are not clear on which medias, CCs, or characters you’re talking about may be deleted.

RPF is chill.

NSFW asks are okay, though note that mod is a minor. Asks involving incest, pedophilia, or NSFW regarding a minor will be deleted and you will be blocked from sending asks on this blog.

Mod also actively dislikes cc!Wilbur and cc!Dream Team as well as their fans, and asks in direct support of either will most likely be deleted. I’m fine with more neutral posts, or posts just saying you miss them, honestly it’ll just depend. @/rpfconfessional is a better place for that anyway. Also Tom Simons hate is not tolerated but criticism is Okay👍

I only watched DSMP last summer. I literally took about three months and watched through every single VOD posted by every participant. (That are on YouTube, archived, or otherwise available to watch.) Because I was depressed during covid and sadly couldn’t get out of bed nevermind open Twitch.

Anyway, even having seen all of “canon”… I don’t get all the family relationships. The only thing that was canon was C!Wilbur being C!Phil’s son. Phil literally said in a (non-canon) stream, (yes, I meant it when I said I watched all the VODS 😅) that Techno had said his character wasn’t Phil’s son or related to Phil, and that he specifically didn’t want his character to be Phil’s son.

He’d said he wanted C!Techno and C!Phil to have been very old friends, but Phil clarified that headcanons and fanart of them being family was still okay of course.

As far as I know, there was never any canon mention that C!Tommy and C!Wilbur were related, either. This one I can get a bit if it’s like a “I see you like a brother”-type thing, because that was definitely their dynamic. But Phil and Tommy never alluded to being father-son.

Phil joked more than once in non-canon streams that he (+ Wilbur + Tommy) had found C!Tubbo somewhere (it was something like a trash can or on the street or something funny, I can’t remember), but that was a non-canon bit.

My point: I don’t understand why people act like it’s canon that C!Tommy (and sometimes C!Tubbo and/or C!Techno) are Phil’s kids. Can anyone explain this to me? Am I missing something in canon? Was this all just created on DSMP Twitter, so it’s like a “you had to be there” thing?

(Side note: I thought it was a joke when Phil said “You’re my son!” before C!Wilbur’s death. Like, that his character was joking. I had to literally go through a watch all the (non-DSMP) VODS of Philza and Wilbur meeting and becoming friends to understand it was canon based on an ongoing joke about them being father-son. Which was just heartbreaking to watch through, because of how much irl Philza clearly grew to care about this man who was actually an awful person. Like watching a horror movie while knowing the ending :( )

cboomer has so so much lore potential but it’s overlooked because the lore wasn’t executed the best and they joined towards the end.

a big reason characters like niki and punz and puffy and fundy get overlooked so much is because their characters can’t be broken down into easy archetypes/roles without mischaracterizing them. definitely not the ONLY reason but it is a big one imo

cdream apologists are always assholes and bad people and yes it IS that serious because it says a lot about you and your morals. They're the same as people who watch breaking bad and thinking Walter was the good guy

I really dislike cTubbo being made to be cQuackity and cSchlatt's son, it's like people need to push everyone in dsmp into a family dynamic because they don't know any other. there's SO many dynamics that work way better without the family thing

cTommy fans keep trying to shove him into every situation ever when he already has every situation ever and it just ends up being angstslop. Not a dream fan speaking btw I don't even go there

People who downplay c!Fundy as just some annoying kid instead of an adult man with depression proves exactly why he acts the way he does

People making cFundy like 13 or in his teens during most of the "main" events on the server completely miss how he as a character works. Just in general.

A lot of cTommy fans being unable to branch out from his lore or refusing to is the main reason why fans of other arcs or characters feel the need to be a "defender" or "#1 fan" of them

Height wars in the dsmp get to a point where they are just straight up ridiculous and end up making the characters look stupid. Stop arguing about who's taller than who or who is shorter than, you're just making a fool of yourself 🫵

I think that cBBH and cSkeppy being soul linked and having their lives connected was incredibly boring and that it gives nothing of value to them as characters
