"Portrait of Cecil Taylor", c.1909. oil on canvas Cecil Taylor was a Classics teacher at Clifton College (a Bristol public school) and a friend of John Maynard Keynes and Sir John Sheppard who commissioned this portrait. Much of the work was undertaken in Cambridge; the portrait completed in Burford (presumably Oxfordshire) in a house rented by Maynard Keynes in August, 1909.
