Since someone posted that amazing Sperm Whale video yesterday, I’ve been watching livestreams from ROV deepsea exploration dives. I love this kind of research and I’m always looking for new videos and keeping an eye out for documentaries. I had no idea you could watch live!

NOAA’s explorer is currently online and they’re finding all kinds of cool creatures, like this Lizardfish (Bathysaurus species)!

Hey guys, so I’m going to assume a lot of you are in the dark about the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) that’s supposed to be built on Mauna Kea, a dormant volcano which has been considered a sacred place to my Hawaiian people for thousands of years.

- Be sensitive to loud noises and flashing lights.

So what exactly is this you ask? It’s a wallet card intended to make some stressful situations involving police a little easier. I know police are often not our allies but in certain situations a card like this can make communication a lot smoother.

As far as I can tell the bit that communicates your mood is pretty accurate. When you apply for a card you’ll get to explain your needs in the comment section and they’ll be reworded and put onto the card. It won’t look exactly like mine. I make no promises about the integrity of the organization that makes these but the wallet cards are useful and free so if you’re like me and interactions with police are really hard for cognitive or communication related reasons I encourage you to check them out. They also make them for other developmentally disabled folks not just autistic people.

Kids being asked their preferred name and pronouns as they get off the bus. Kids being housed with the gender they identify as. Kids swapping clothes so their outside can reflect their inside. Older kids getting gay/lesbian/trans-inclusive sex education. Cis girls teaching trans girls to do their makeup. Trans boys learning to bind safely. Counselors sharing positive coming-out stories around the campfire. Kids learning to include their pronouns when introducing themselves. Kids coming to camp scared and alone and leaving with the best support network anybody could possibly hope for.

This needs to exist.
