Cause Yelena didn’t see every person she killed despite regretting that she killed people, it was much more personal than just that. I have no doubt that Bucky saw some Hydra stuff, but I doubt it was just that

I love how protective Sebastian Stan is of Marvel. Yes, we should be open to criticism and yes, Marvel isn’t perfect. However, the fact that Sebastian is so willing to defend Marvel tells me that his role as Bucky is as important to him as it is to a lot of his fans.

It’s just sweet is all.

ISTG, het women are more openly homophobic than gay men are misogynistic. Even the rhetoric “they are men before they are gay” is lowkey homophobic? It’s not that they are a man but they are gay, they are a man and they are gay. They could have privileges as a man but be discriminated against for being gay. Just as het women have privileges for being straight but are discriminated against for being a woman. You wouldn’t say they are straight before being a woman.

And as a lesbian, if you are comparing whether misogyny or homophobia is worse, you are deeply mistaken on what oppression even is. Especially in the case of misogyny and homophobia where the two can be so intertwined to the point fem gay men experience some harm from misogyny and masc het women experience some harm from homophobia.

Pointing put that gay men can be misogynistic is good, but acting as if the oppression only goes in one direction is just ignorant. If you can’t point out that misogyny without repeating homophobic rhetoric, you aren’t trying to speak out on misogyny, you are trying to be homophobic.

I might be looking at this with rose-tinted glasses, but I don’t understand the critique of “Marvel only made Karli kill to villainize her”.

I don’t think Marvel was ever villainizing her. I think her cause and activism was intentionally portrayed in a sympathetic light. This isn’t like Cars 2 where the villain is right but the movie tells us they aren’t, the show makes us watch Karli help small communities and even grieve a mother figure. It humanizes her and shows us that her beliefs are right.

Even Sam sympathizes with her. Bucky and Zemo are honestly just trying to stop the distribution of the serum while Sam comes off as being more protective of her. When Karli dies, Sam holds a speech to make sure it wasn’t in vain.

Karli becoming willing to kill and willing to die shows her desperation. It’s not a moment to villainize her. At least, I didn’t think it was. This scene doesn’t take away the validity of Karli’s beliefs and I don’t think that’s what Marvel is trying to do.

This show isn’t perfect, and I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite, but people need to stop assuming Marvel is trying to be so black and white with “good” and “bad” and then trying to criticize them for it.

I’m trying to explain to someone that South Koreans think that men who look like women are really attractive! And hence, there are a lot of K-Pop male idols that look like women! And as a lesbian, some of us had the experience of mistaking our attraction to those K-Pop men as attraction to men, when in reality, we were attracted to their feminine features. It’s not about how crusty American men are, some K-Pop male idols actually look like girls!

And then they hit me with the “people can wear dresses and still identify as men” and lecture me on gender norms as if I was the one who equated looking like a girl to being well-groomed

And the numbers, one-nine-seventeen, 1917, I don’t think it’s referencing Bucky’s birth year, but instead the Russian Revolution of 1917, and the birth of the soviet union. Especially since he was brainwashed specifically in Russia.
