Duel Monsters: A Duel Between Kingdoms

We've long seen the exploits of the original Yu-Gi-Oh series characters through the good, the bad, and the Orichalcos. But while we've dabbled at least a little into the monster world, we have yet to explore the entirety of this realm. And that's what we'll be doing today! And it all starts here, in a world called the Duelscape! It is unclear just how long the Duelscape has existed, but what is clear is that there are many tribes designated by their typing. In this varied landscape, six Tribes live, fight and even be reborn here. They are: The Kindred: A group of Monsters consisting of the Warriors, Fairies, and Beast-Warriors led by Dark Magician and his Arcane Knights The Arthropod Empire: A imperial colony consisting of Insect Queen and her entourage of bugs The Machinations: A kingdom of mechanical marvels led by Perfect Machine King and his second-in-command, Robotic Knight The Untamed Wilderness: A chaotic-neutral community of Monsters that include much of the Beasts, Fire, Rock, Thunder, Aqua, Sea Serpents, Winged Beasts, Plants, Reptiles, Fish and Dinosaurs. They're not led by any one being, but sometimes individually work with the other Tribes for one reason or another. The Undead Oligarchy: A dark, shadowy realm where the Zombies, Fiends, and even some Spellcasters and Warriors, dwell and cause untold havoc for the other Tribes. They're led by the Dark Master Zorc, and his generals including King of Yamimakai, Dark Chimera and Barox. The Dragons: A Tribe whose clientele is fairly self-explanatory, are arch-and-or friendly rivals of The Kindred. They consist of the Dragon Horde, led by the Five-Headed Dragon and his malevolent Dragon Kiln; and the Dragon Republic, a somewhat democratic nation living in the sky consisting of the consuls Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Now that you have some idea on how this series' characters work and thrive, let the battle commence!

DD: ADBK Performance of Sword

The Piercing Pirouette

The Highlands, The Kindred

Biography: Named Boudica of the Highlands, this beautiful woman was the queen of the country Riverside, taught by her late father how to perform the ancient technique of Capoeira, or dance fighting. To add to the effectiveness of the fighting style, Boudica added blades that she attached to her arms in order to cleave through her enemies.

However, she and her guards were always under attack by Zorc's forces. Specifically, he often sends his generals Garma Sword and Makyura the Destructor to lead a force of Fiends and Zombies to try and overtake the rich, fertile soil of the Highlands.

Although her own generals, consisting of such men as Judge Man and Moon Envoy are more than capable of holding their own, she has more than enough strength to bring down the most stubborn of Fiends! She's quick, limber and precise in her movements, making her more than a match for the likes of this invading army. After defeating Garma Sword, Makyura and his allies of Dark Jeroid and Lekunga retreated along with the rest of the army.

These stunning victories caught the attention of Dark Magician, and thus sent himself, Orgoth the Relentless, Celtic Guardian and Axe Raider to speak with her. After a bit of discussion, the beautiful Boudica agreed to be an ally of The Kindred, her people thankful to have friends they can count on outside their own kingdom. Recently, Boudica has also spoken with the Fairy Kingdom, as well as the Dragon Republic, hoping to consolidate mutual protection.

DD: ADBK Griffore

The Rotund Gargoyle

Biography: This is one of the less insightful entries, as Griffore isn't so much a character as he is a pet. Specifically, he serves as the pet gargoyle of former king Summoned Skull. 

During an escort mission to meet the powerful Black Tyranno, Griffore met and befriended a fellow odd Beast called Torike. Ever since then, they've become spirit brothers and can imbue strength in each other when in combat.

DD: ADBK Goblin Attack Force

Epithet: 

The Hired Brutes of Summoned Skull

The Kindred

Biography: If you wanna talk stupid henchmen, one of the most notable is the Goblin Attack Force. They can follow orders, they can attack with brutal efficiency, but that's about all they're good for in terms of strategy.

However, stupid does not equal completely braindead or evil. They were actually orphans adopted by the deposed king Summoned Skull back when he was still ruler of the Undead Oligarchy.

And although the Goblins aren't the swiftest of wit, they were taught relative discipline and a sense of morality by their adopted father. This combined with Summoned Skull treating them like legitimate sons gave the Goblin Attack Force an undying loyalty to his crown, and by extension the Kindred Tribe when Summoned Skull got deposed.

DD: ADBK Rhaimundos of the Red Sword

The Red-Headed Redeemer

Biography: Formerly a demon general for the Undead Oligarchy, this Warrior fights with his signature weapon, the Sword of Crimson Flames. 

Said sword was passed down to him by Summoned Skull himself, and he has deep respect for him and his associates. At first, when Zorc took over, he was cursed by Barox to be their loyal servant.

But during a mission to the Deep Valley, he was captured by Fireyarou and Charubin the Fire Knight and brought to Ancient Elf and Tao the Chanter. 

Upon recognizing the imprisoned fighter, Summoned Skull was shocked and appalled that his people were being treated this way, and had Rhaimundos freed by the two Spellbinders.

Now freed, he pledged loyalty to The Kindred, and reinstated his fealty to Summoned Skull, before attacking allies of the Undead Oligarchy as revenge for his manipulation.

DD: ADBK Horn Imp

The Nocturnal Wrestler

Biography: Feral Imp has an elder brother, who's more sober in disposition. This is he, the Horn Imp. His mission is simple: Protect Summoned Skull, and grapple all who attempt to attack him head-on. His grip is powerful, and his horn is as sharp as any blade.

That said, he's not without his faults; he's very stubborn, not to mention brazenly brash in his fighting style. This has gotten him into trouble more than once, despite his diplomatic way of talking. 

Ironically, the more fun-loving Feral Imp has bailed him out several times. Horn Imp's loyalty to Summoned Skull is strong, however, so he never strays from The Kindred's goal of protecting the innocent.

DD: ADBK Feral Imp

The Fierce Jester

Biography: The term playful fiend is often used to describe Feral Imp, and it's certainly not wrong. Originally the jester of the king Summoned Skull, he used special dances to confuse enemies before slashing at them with his pink claws. He, along with his half-brother Horned Imp, fled with Summoned Skull and a few other loyalists to escape Zorc and his demonic generals.

Dark Magician welcomed them with open arms due to Skull's history with the Convent that would become the Kindred, with Feral Imp now acting as the sneaky, if somewhat goofy spy on the Undead Oligarchy along with Kuriboh. The only problem is he's not as discrete as Kuriboh can be, and usually uses comedic trickery to get out of bad situations.

DD: ADBK Guardian Dreadscythe

Epithet: 

The Judge of Soul Reaping

The Kindred, The Guardian Demigods

Biography: This strange-looking Fiend looks like something out of a slasher film, and her weapon certainly backs that up! Dreadscythe is one of the Guardian Demigods, and despite her horrific appearance, is affectionate to the innocent.

Her only real rage is for the Reaper of the Cards, and how despite his supposed neutrality, he still chooses to work for Zorc and get paid by him to enact his plans.

Because of this, she goes out of her way to not only discredit the Reaper, but also try to destroy him so she herself can become one the true death keeper.

That being said, her virtues keep her from becoming the very thing she swore to defeat, and has chosen to work for the Kindred as a loyalist to Summoned Skull.

DD: ADBK Turtle Tiger

The Guardian Beast of Kay'est

Biography: The oceans of the Duelscape are home to creatures that can be as bizarre as a Dr. Seuss nightmare, and one of the oddest is a combination of terrapin and tiger called appropriately enough, Turtle Tiger.

About the size of a horse, this long-fanged hybrid is surprisingly fast for a something as heavy as he is, and can even spit blue acid that can corrode most metals! His teeth are as sharp as a Bowie knife, and roar can send most creatures running for the hills (coral hills in this case)! 

He was found as a cubling by the daughter of Levia-Dragon Daedalus and Mermail Abysstrite named Kay'est, and has since been a great guard dog as well as a loving house pet.

DD: ADBK Great White Terror

The High-Speed Sergeant of the Sea

Biography: Formerly the pet of the Immortal of Thunder, this powerful shark lives up to his name!

He's often able to race around most opponents like a ferocious biker, and his teeth are as deadly as the rest of him! However, despite being a pet, Great White Terror was no fan of his master when he betrayed Kairyu-Shin.

It didn't help matters that his brother, Deepsea Shark, was abused and forced to fight in gladiatorial arenas. Finally unable to take it anymore, Great White Terror formally joined Maiden of the Aqua and ripped  Aqua Dragon's army to shreds!

For his efforts, he and his brother were made sergeants, using their tag-team attacks to shred anyone unlucky enough to try fighting them.

DD: ADBK Guardian Kay'est

The Guardian of the Ocean's Bounty

Atlantica, The Guardian Demigods

Biography: The Guardian Demigods serve most of the major Tribes to some capacity, mainly those who serve a greater good of some kind. For example, Eatos works with the Fairy Kingdom, Dreadscythe is a loyalist to Summoned Skull, and Kay'est here is the Demigoddess of Atlantica.

She was the daughter of the late Levia-Dragon Daedalus, a student of Exodia and founder of the underwater city along with Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness and Fortress Whale. However, Aqua Dragon managed to corrupt Fortress Whale and managed to conquer Atlantica and rule it while killing descendant Kairyu-Shin and his family to the waves.

But Kay'est survived this and helped the young Maiden of the Aqua and her allies retake the city when the time was right. She's since gone on to found a smaller city along with her uncle OMFoD known as the City of Tethys, and has been helping add massive fish harvests to their allied Atlantica.

DD: ADBK Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness

The Guardian of the City of Tethys

Biography: In the beginning, the seas were as silent as Earth graves. We say Earth graves because, as Pumpking has proven, the Graveyard's a lot more lively than the ones back home.

Regardless, slowly the water began to move almost like a living organism, and much like the wind whipping at the ocean surface, life began to swim around seemingly from nowhere.

Among the first to appear was a great whale that's somehow a Sea Serpent called Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness. Though due to that being a mouthful, the Orca chose to name itself Oceanus instead.

Oceanus and his brother Levia-Dragon Daedalus soon became exchange students of Exodia, learning his ways by-way of long-range communication via mental projection. Oceanus, despite learning much from his time there, can be a bit full of himself due to his power and sharp intellect.

He even managed to generate the first techno organic minions with the Torpedo Fish and Cannonball Spear Shellfish he uses as a standard attack.

He chose to watch from afar after the death of his brother, and only intervened once Aquarius had gained enough strength to defeat the usurper that had killed Kairyu-Shin.

After the events of the Aquarian Revolt that deposed Aqua Dragon, Oceanus returned and, along with Guardian Kay'est, created a new city known as Tethys, hoping to found a new generation of ocean monsters from all corners of the sea.

DD: ADBK Sea King Dragon

Epithet: 

The Maiden's Warbeast

Biography: Born originally a warmount for the Immortal of Thunder, Sea King Dragon was taken in by the Maiden of the Aqua when he was abandoned for being, quote, "Not being able to hit a single rebel with his so-called power." As it turns out, he was missing on purpose, hating his master's betrayal of his uncle, Kairyu-Shin.

Now on the Maiden's side, he promptly laid waste to the Immortal of Thunder's forces, though he nearly died at the hands of the vile Aqua Dragon. He was made the symbol of Atlantica for his services, and has since been the loyal steed of some of the Maiden's best and brightest, including her old teacher the Furious Sea King.

DD: ADBK Roaring Ocean Snake

Epithet: 

The Reincarnation of the King

Biography: Roaring Ocean Snake started out as your average sea monster, drifting around from sea to sea, and occasionally pillaging the shoreline for food. However, he was finally captured by the Immortal of Thunder to be fight opponents as the Incarnation of the Sea King. Of course, this was just a ploy to placate Atlantica so Aqua Dragon could stay in control.

Roaring Ocean Snake managed to escape, however, thanks to Amphibian Beast and the Maiden of the Aqua. Although hurt about how he was used by Aqua Dragon, he agreed to help the Maiden in exchange for his freedom.

The Ocean Snake became a sort of celebrity during the deposing of Aqua Dragon, serving as a mascot for the rebellion. He was indeed freed from service to any form, but added that he would serve as a hunter of any surviving loyalists to the vile Aqua Dragon.

DD: ADBK Flyfang

The Winged Shark of the Frozen Falls

Atlantica, The Blizzard Valley

Biography: There are very few ocean creatures that can survive outside the beach, let alone the frozen north! Miraculously, two monsters managed to do this and carved a niche in the Blizzard Valley.

Enter one of these monsters, Flyfang. He is a rare species called a Shark Griffin, and has warm blood and an aqualung to keep him from dying outside the water. He was sent by the Maiden of the Aqua to join Airorca in investigating the White Night Queen and see her true intentions.

Amazingly, the two not only managed to spy on her greatly, but even assisted White Night Queen when she was discovered to be neutral. Due to this, both Flyfang and Airorca are considered honorary Blizzard Valley residents by White Night Queen and her royal court.

To survive in the cold with no major water sources, Flyfang will often eat snow as well as the flesh of large animals in order to keep his aqualung loaded with fluids. His Tidal Wave Torpedo has doomed many enemies, including Koumori Dragon during a skirmish between the Dragon Horde and Blizzard Valley.

DD: ADBK The Legendary Fisherman

The Tamer of the Seas

The Kindred, Atlantica

Biography: Much like how Aquarius is the ambassador of Atlantica, The Kindred sent an ambassador to Atlantica to represent themselves. Before being dubbed the Legendary Fisherman, this brave human was named Ishmael of Coral Ridge. He mainly lived alone in a cave near the township, using the ancient art of spearfishing to get by. It wasn't until a major tsunami hit the area that he began to truly respect the sea.

He survived only by clinging to a palm tree that proved strong enough to withstand the wave. Ishmael was attacked by a great blue shark during the aftermath, but he managed to tame it after riding on its back for nearly an hour. He nicknamed it Ahab, and together, they traveled the ocean to better understand the underwater realm Ishmael himself had only barely visited.

His time as part of The Kindred started when Aqua Dragon was deposed, and appeared on the shores of Coral Ridge to conquer them instead. The idea was for it to be a stepping stone on remaking his empire. However, Ishmael didn't take this lying down, and tried fighting the blue bruiser himself. This went about as well as you'd expect, but it was enough to attract the attention of Ansatsu and Strike Ninja. The two intervened and called for backup.

Dark Magician sent Tao the Chanter, Thunder Nyan-Nyan and the recently joined Kung Fu Nyan Nyan to come forth and defeat Aqua Dragon and his men. After squashing generals WOW Warrior and Spike Seadra, Aqua Dragon chose to retreat further inland, to hopefully seek an audience with the Five-Headed Dragon and his Horde.

Grateful for the help, Ishmael joined The Kindred, and having met Kaiser Seahorse on his travels, agreed to be their ambassador to Atlantica.

DD: ADBK Takriminos

The Ridiculed Hybrid

Biography: This one's a very tragic case, as his father, Aqua Dragon, often ridiculed him for his half-breed status. You see, Takriminos was birthed from a Fishwoman known as Enchanted Mermaid, as well as the despotic Aqua Dragon, making him an outcast since Fishmen were often considered an inferior species compared to other sea monsters.

As such, Takriminos gained a powerful grudge against Aqua Dragon and his inner circle, something that the resistance group led by Maiden of the Aqua capitalized on. She convinced him to be a secretive spy to help defeat his father, and for his service became a traveling duke who protected those who also were outcasts for various reasons.

DD: ADBK Jellyfish

The Electrifying Mage

Biography: Like any self-respecting telepath, this psychic cnidarian uses powerful telekinetic attacks on enemies. They also use electricity as well, which has the power to even poison opponents who get enough of a jolt!

He works for Fiend Kraken, and is also a surprisingly good cook despite a lack of eyes to see the food. He can also handle a lot of electricity at a time, making him ideal for dealing with threats such as the Immortal of Thunder.
