i see the ruins of collapsed coliseums, of tainted dreams, of pained pictures, of cracked concrete, of dead-end roads, imprinted by the mark of brimstone. i see fire in the distance, engulfing the blue hues with harsh tones of red, the shades of doomsday dancing on the shared sky. i see monstrous shadows, creeping up in every corner, watching my every step, waiting for the perfect strike, finding my weaknesses. i see the mass of smoke approaching me gradually, a darkness wanting to devour me and be its unfortunate inhabitant, a dark grey entity awaiting to blind me, suffocate me, to see me suffer under its control. i see no one in sight, alone in the middle of it all, voiceless screams coming out of my mouth. i see my worst fears materialized, mockingly thrown in my face, in this version of hell i made.

I don’t hide from the world I hide from the world my mind made

from perceptions that are my perpetual persecution from the disturbing thoughts like ghosts that haunt

I hide from those eyes that sprouted from my skin back when it began snakes born of sickness the birth of self-criticism the inception of self-consciousness venomous terror invading my veins a heart held hostage to pain

at the end of  a defeated day I am a crumpled poem in the trash broken pens my heart is emptied of the pulse of words everything that matters atrophies I lay listless speechless I let the apathy swallow me suffocate all feeling

I want to drown until morning.

I tell myself I’m happy in my solitude. and perhaps I am, content in a place where no one can really hurt me. But sometimes I see a couple looking into each other’s eyes, or a pair of best friends laughing their troubles away and the yearning in my heart reminds me; my soul is always at it’s highest when shared with another.

Planting my roots in this soil I am vibrant, I am yellow, I am Fully-formed and alive. These Emerald arms prepare

To hug the sun, the rain, this Sweetest air with an upturned face, Smiling gently, expecting love, But damaged things are overlooked;

I dreamed of being a flower But grew into a weed.
