Jessica Comeau, playing a lovely rendition of Barbry Ellen. You will not regret hitting the "play button."
HAPPY DULCIVERSARY!
Today’s Dulcimer Thursday is #52, which brings year 1 of Dulcimer Thursday to completion, so you know we pulled out all the stops to celebrate. Here’s my song, “Sweet Life,” from the Snow Day CD.
Joining me are Michael Natrin (mandolin), Geoff Geis (concertina), Alyssa Regan (piano), Sarah Linde (fiddle), and Shane Palko ran some cameras for us and sang a bit.
Almost 3 hours of dulcimer music with 1100 views. This has been a great project so far. Thanks to everyone who supports it by listening, liking, commenting, sharing, etc. YOU ROCK!

Here's an improvised tune I recorded a few months back for Couch By Couch West!
Thanks for submitting! You improvise like a baus, dude. This is wonderful.

I’m strongly considering taking the dulcimer back up.
Yes do iiiiiit!
One cannot simply play a Dulcimer in an ordinary location #carrooftop #Dulcimer
Joni Mitchell talking about her dulcimer a little bit before she sings "California." The video's a bit outta sync, but if you don't mind that it's a charming little video. :)
This is cute. Don Pedi, dulcimer player and Subaru spokesperson.
Only in Asheville, NC.
Dulcimer Thursday! The song is called “Redemption,” and it’s one of my favorites of Matt’s. I had two tracks of tinwhistle that were so badly out of tune that I axed both of them >.<
I like my harmonies though.
It makes me sad that I don’t know how to do this.
Flatfoot or Buck dancing is a type of clog dance developed in the Appalachian region (for anyone following me who doesn't know what's going on here). There are still folks teaching it - I actually met a flatfooter at a contra dance in North Carolina. Nice guy. Here's a short and mesmerizing clip of him dancing in the Greensboro train station.
New recording studio space. Reuse of an old upright piano that was beyond repair.
Great little space, and great instruments there! :) I like the open-back upright piano.
This is a replica of a Tennessee Music Box. Stephen Seifert does a great job explaining about the instrument and plays it, too - he uses a turkey feather, too, which is a traditional way of strumming the dulcimer.
In other words, pretty freakin' neet.
Black Mountain Rag! A rockin' rendition.
Dulcimer fun
Rock on!
My Dad made these instruments (by hand! from scrap!) and gifted us with them recently. They are: A Thomas Hinds double cigar box guitar, made from two too small boxes. AND a dulcimer, with a small cigar box to hold the dowel/pick and the tuner.
That's fantastic! I'd love to hear these instruments! :)
DULCIMER. THURSDAY. FIFTY.
Geoff Geis on concertina, myself on two dulcimers at once. We both found the final result to be utterly mesmerising… give it a go!
