An Assertive Reminder

TW: Gender identity, trans invisibility

Non-binary / gender-queer trans folks are in fact trans. When we are forgetting that we are trans because no one will recognize us as such, there is a serious problem. I try to reject my need for validation of my gender identity, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t entirely present still.

I am so entirely happy for every person who wishes to be recognized as trans and is. You deserve it. We all deserve it. The idea that trans looks like one thing or another is harsh and dishonest, and it is a social construct set by the gender binary, which is something that my own gender-queer identity is meant to challenge. The feeling of being invisible as a trans person is hurtful to say the fucking least.

I am gender-queer.

I am trans.

My pronouns are they / them.

Slouch 2015 Summer Tour

Hey y’all, Slouch has stuck around the PNW for a long time now but just so ya know we are still kickin! We’re working on finishing up a new tape right now that we will have ready for our five week U.S. summer tour that starts July 1st! Listed below are the dates we have planned right now. Do not wear contact lenses if you are in a situation where you may be tear-gassed. When I went through basic training, we were warned that there was a possibility the tear gas they were using could melt contact lenses.

trouble breathing due to tear gas can cause a crisis if you have sickle cell anemia. I know this because Bahrain, which had protests, had several deaths and hospitalizations due to this. Considering sickle cell is prevalent in people with African heredity and no one’s mentioned this, thought I would share.
