So Mary-Beth is clearly a little sweet on Arthur even though their relationship is platonic, right? She romantisizes his sad, tough outlaw vibe and clearly likes him but also she seems perfectly comfortable just having a solid friendship with the guy. Great.

But I was thinking about what it must have been like when this young girl sticks with the gang and just has the biggest crush on him. Just completely enamored. He's a knight in shining armor as far as she's concerned. Finding any opportunity to sit near him by the fire. Moony eyed watching him clean his gun or write in his journal. Just a silly puppy dog type of crush you get when you're a teenager and don't have any sense.

And eventually she comes to her senses because of course that's never going to happen but oh what if. And even as the years pass the feeling sticks with her a bit. And Eventually all of the heroes in her books have a little bit of Arthur in them.
