“I’ll treat you better Y/n, I promise.”
You slowly glanced up, immediately meeting baby blue orbs squarely as Liam held a stern expression. But before you could open your mouth to reply, Liam was suddenly forcefully shoved away from you, causing a scream to escape past your lips.
“What the hell are you doing with my girlfriend Dunbar?” Brett sneered, his voice dripping with hatred as he pulled you behind him. “Did you not understand what I told you last time you got close to Y/n -”
And without any hesitation, you watched as Liam’s fist collided against Brett’s jaw causing him to stagger back slightly at the sudden force.
“Enough!” You shouted, standing in between both boys, seizing them from tearing each other’s throats. You then looked at Liam, who held his clenched fists to his sides. “Liam, go home.”
His brows furrowed and just as he opened his mouth to object, you quickly shook your head, “Please.”
You immediately avoided Liam’s pleading gaze until his retreating steps were no longer heard.
“So are you going to tell me why you were with Dunbar?”
Turning towards your boyfriend, you then shrugged his hand off almost as if his touch burned its way into your skin. “Seriously, Brett?” You scoffed, running your fingers through your hair, frustratingly. “Are you going to tell me what you were doing with that girl?”
Brett stood still, as his gaze washed over you before suddenly a bitter laugh escaped past his lips. Your brows instantly furrowed as you’ve never seen him like this before.
“What girl Y/n? I wasn’t with anyone. Come on, let me drop you ho-” He began, whilst grasping your forearm but you immediately pushed him away.
“Don’t try to make me look like an idiot Brett. I know what I saw, you were kissing another girl- do you have any idea how that makes me feel?” You started and you soon felt your lower lip beginning to quiver as tears burned its way to the brim of your eyes.
And before you knew it, you let out a choked sob. “It hurts, when you see someone you love kiss someone else, I feel so stupid for even trusting you and I don’t even know why i even bothered.”
With that, you shook your head before spinning on your heel and retreating away from him, until you felt yourself being pulled back. “Y/n I’m so sorry- no don’t do this, please- I-I love you. You know that.”
You sighed, before gazing up and in an instant met blue orbs which watched your every move pleadingly. “I-I love you too Brett.”
Despite soon feeling strong arms wrapping you into a familiar embrace, you couldn’t help but wonder if you were once again only accepting the lies because they were exactly what you wanted to hear.
You froze at the familiar voice before you heard hurried steps making its way towards you.
Swiftly turning around, you were then greeted to a breathless Liam.
“Hey Liam, is everything okay?” You asked, as your brows knitted together at his worried expression.
“I-I heard you and Brett are still together, is that true?”
You nodded before avoiding his gaze, “Yes, were still together.”
Liam closed the gap between the both of you in long strides, before he placed both of his hands on your arms. “Y/n, do you not remember what he did? He kissed someone else, how can you let that go?”
“I know that,” You paused, gazing up and meeting baby blue orbs squarely, “-But Brett was always there for me when no one else was, I can’t forget that.”
“And I’ll always be there for you, from now on Y/n.” Liam stated, as he slipped his fingers with yours. “-And i can promise you that.”
You suddenly stood motionless, as Liam’s words whirled around your head almost echoing itself repeatedly, “W-why are you doing this Liam?”
“I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again.” He began, “I can treat you better Y/n.”
And before you could reply, Liam leant down and pressed his forehead against yours, causing your eyes to fall shut at the sudden close proximity.
“If you don’t want me Y/n, all you have to do is to tell me to leave.”
You wanted to push him away and tell him no, but you couldn’t help but notice how right everything felt at that very moment.

Sorry that I’ve been inactive these past weeks, honestly its been 2 month into school and i’m already behind on work :((
