Gibson robot tuners have had a bit of a bad press, but, I decided to check them out. The main reason I decided was a friend of mine who bought a Gibson SG with them fitted, he took them off after a week because he couldn't work them. But, knowing what this guy is like, I knew he wouldn't even have read the instructions.
Also because they have had a bad press you can pick them up relatively cheaply, as a lot of guitarists are like my mate Steve and get frustrated quickly and don't really like technology.
So, after a LOT of research, I got a set and fitted them to my main gigging guitar.
On the video I switch from standard tuning to Open G tuning.
At this point I'd only just had them fitted maybe half an hour before, it takes a few seconds to change from one tuning to another, with practice this time will be shorter, but even the time it takes me to change here means I wouldn't interrupt the flow of a gig performance.
Yes, I'm a convert, and there's a good chance I'll get more and fit them to other guitars
