What is "Mythos"
(It's yappin time baybe)
Mythos is a sorta au/somewhat original story based on and inspired by Greek myth/epic the musical, the whole thing takes place in the fictional city called 'New Olympus' a good few thousand years after the greek golden/silver age of the old myths and long after the untold story of the fall of the gods, taking place in the modern era where we see the gods get up to their shenanigans following years of unaddressed traumas and a *lot* of fuckups on humanity's part.
Wha happun?
Time.
Time was ultimately the undoing of the olympians, time and ego.
When the Iron Age came to be and humanity began making advancements towards technology and convenience the gods one by one began to lose their strength with only a handful maintaining the level of power they did through underground cult worship, and with Olympus weakening so to did the locks on a certain titans cage.
Zeus took notice and believed himself to be just as powerful as he always was allowed Kronos to bust out only to get his ass handed to him. Fleeing to Olympus, he ended up leading Kronos right to home where the titan began to turn the place into a desert, killing or capturing a few minor gods who stood to defend the others as they evacuated to the underworld.
During this battle, Athena dies protecting Ares, who ends up carrying back his sisters body as he called for a retreat.
From that point, it becomes personal for Zeus, who ends up dedicating his existance and the Olympians to taking Kronos down.
Hades continues to dedicate himself to the underworld, not wanting to involve his family or the lost souls to a war no one wants.
And Poseidon, well for a while, he is loyal to Zeus and more than happy to help the cause, but over time, humanity shows it's colors, global warming, wild life extermination, the loss of hundreds of thousands of species ect, it all hardens Poseidon until an incident with an oil spill results in the death of Nerites. Resulting in Zeus having to stand up for humanity and beat down poseidon before he drowned the world with what little divine power he has left.
Okay so where we at?
The story currently (it's an ongoing everchanging one) is that poseidon, Zeus, and Hades are all separated but living amongst mortals in secret with the few other gods that remain.
Zeus and what remains of the Olympians make up a major crime family in the underbelly of New-Olympus and continue to rebel against Kronos in various not so legal means with Zeus as its kingpin.
Poseidon lives alone off the coast with no contact with the remaining gods, hiding on his own little island under the guise of a retired eccentric musician who just wants to spend his summers with his two half mortal kids, he is also lowkey panicking over their potential divinity, which would paint a target on them.
Hades is still running the underworld, though a lot has changed. For one, he's fighting on his own line to ensure the dead stay dead, though Kronos is making that incredibly hard.
And in order to keep up with his brothers, he too has made a mortal guise, pretending to be a humble shop owner over an antique store called "In death we part" antiques where he acts as a fencer, informant, and safehouse to any who need it in the war, though with recent developments he may have to take a more active role soon.
Cool, but what about Kronos?
Kronos, over the years, has thrived as humans grew, gaining a fondness for their technological advancements and, after his own learning and experiments, became the owner of a massive tech company, where he's basically become lex luthor. After a successful raid on the underworld he obtained the soul of prometheus and using him has also raised an army of the ancient dead to act as his private military, why?
To fuck with the gods.
Kronos has already won. He already has all the power, devotion, all he could want but on the side? He wants his sons to suffer, wants Zeus to suffer, so let Zeus fight him, let whats left of the gods die slow and gasping, they won't last, besides, its good entertainment.
