All the birthday icons together at last!
Man, it's so satisfying to see a year's worth of art together in one panel - you can really see the art journey and gradual improvement through them.
And well done to those who figured out the meaning behind the colours! ;) I used my main ships (YohaRiko, RubyMaru, ChikaYou, KanaMariDia) and swapped their image colours. This worked out to be really pretty on some, but I belatedly realised this meant 3 (!) of them ended up with the same colour as their eyes...aah, well, you live and you learn!
Which one is your favourite?
I've seen the announcement of the Aqours final live today - and I just wanted to express how incredibly grateful I am to the girls for what has been an absolutely incredible 9 years. 9 Years is a long time to be an idol, and I can't believe I've managed to be here since the very beginning. I remember travelling to Japan for the first time at the end of Muse's era, seeing the hype in SEGA for the new group, and the wall of hand-written messages wishing them the best. …And, ironically, I remember scoffing and being one of the disbelievers who said they wouldn't live up to Muse's legacy. (I'd been a late fan of Muse through the anime for only 1 and a half years, haha.) I didn't realise then what an absolutely massive impact they would have on my life, getting me interested in learning about the voices and talents behind the anime girls on my screen and sucking me into the rabbit hole that was Japanese Idol culture. I even attended the 5th live in Japan before COVID struck, which was the first live music concert I had ever attended, and the memories of that day are still burned into my brain as one of the best days of my life.
I've anticipated every new song release and live announcement since. I've laughed with Aikyan, I've cried with Ainya, I've hollered over Rikako. So many precious moments and memories that I won't forget. I have so much more I can say, but what was supposed to be a quick post is already kind of long.
For those who are seeing the news through my post - I urge you to go and check out the details on their official website: https://www.lovelive-anime.jp/uranohoshi/9thproject.php
All that's left for me to say now is; Thank you, Aqours. For everything.
And I'm sure it's not going to be goodbye forever. It's going to be; "See you later!"

Did everyone see that really hype trailer for version 4.6?!!
Me: "I'm going to relax the birthday deadline." Also me: *Proceeds to not post for like 8 weeks* In my defense, I wasn't home for about 4 weekends, and I was pretty ill for 2 more. But here's Kanan! I really like the aspect of the "Artificer" type of character, and I wish she'd done more in Sunshine In The Mirror with her mechanic skills (other than like...build a swingset). I think one of the biggest regrets I had for the show was that they didn't really have time to establish the character's unique contributions to combating the big bad issue Numazu was facing. Regardless, I think Kanan's new outfit and design is very cute. And I did not want to draw the frog; he looks super complicated. It doesn't really help that Tonosama has a different looking design in the anime vs the manga, with the way all the bolts and pieces fit together...Maybe I'll draw him someday.
January, the month of Dia! I said I was going to relax a little on the character birthday deadlines but I still want to make sure the girls get a chance to shine on their birthday month. And I want an excuse to sink my teeth a little more into the SitM universe.
It's a little late, but happy New Year Everyone! I hope you enjoyed the holidays, whatever you and your culture celebrates. It's the time of the year where we go over goals and make new ones! I had a few art goals for last year; > One full art piece a month (continued from last year) > Aim to draw more full-body pieces > 3 sketches a month I did manage to achieve the first two, though I never posted a finished December piece here and instead kept it for personal use. I'm fine with that, I'll forgive the difficult last few months I had and try and be kind to myself. As for the sketches, I have to confess, I didn't keep up with those past March. I think it's actually quite challenging to keep up when you don't have a dedicated theme or idea each month. I also got a bit conscious about posting them when I'm still not super happy with my understanding of human anatomy. I think I'll re-set the goal for this year, but not put the pressure of posting on myself until year's end. Some goals for this blog for the year ahead: > I'd like to do more new comics! (at least 4 this year would be nice, double last year's) > I want my months to have different arts, instead of only doing love live icons / birthday pieces. I want to move away from those to give myself chance to do more with the characters. > I want to post more sketches, or less-polished drawings in general. I think I can get more done if I don't have to worry about it all being perfect and finished, and I have some fun ideas I just never get around to being able to do otherwise. I also want to continue trying to branch out with poses, and more full-body (or at least not just face or bust-upwards art) this year. (It would also be really neat if we could get up to 100 followers! But that's a little out of my control.) We'll see what the tides bring, though hopefully this year will be better than the last. I so very much appreciate everyone who has supported and joined my blog this past year <3 As well as those of you who stuck with me when some months have been on the quieter side. I love drawing, and trying to be consistent with a full time job on the side is difficult. But I don't feel like this blog is hard work. It's always just been a place for my casual enjoyment to post and challenge myself when I can. I think that's important. Anyways, sappy things aside, may your 2024 be better than the last year. And may you achieve all the goals you want to in the continuous strive for improvement! - Dusky x
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to put out a note to announce I'm having a short break from drawing and posting here. My father passed away out of the blue in October, and I've been trying to keep up with my loose drawing/posting schedule of every few weeks whilst...also having to deal with all of the bereavement arrangements. On top of this, I've had issues with work and other personal issues that have cropped up out of seemingly nowhere. It's been beyond tough. As they say in England; "When it rains, it pours". I'm at the point where I've slipped too far behind my self-imposed 'schedule' and just need some time to get things ironed out so I don't have so much on my plate. So I'm taking a short break to give myself space to do so. I hope to be back at it next year in January, but will have to see (and hope) if things get a little bit better. There's still so much to sort out. Thank you all for the immense amount of support, reblogs and likes. Honestly it means the world to me, and I love reading everyone's tags and comments - they brighten my day and make me laugh ❤️. It pains me greatly to have to come to this decision, but unfortunately sometimes life just smacks you in the face and leaves you with no option but to push aside the things you love in favour of being practical. I will be back. Until then, I hope you all have a lovely Holiday Season and start the New Year off positively. Sending you internet hugs and well wishes, DuskyDrawz
Happy birthday to Ellie <3 I'm very sad we didn't get birthday mail for her in-game, but the flame chaser voicelines were so sweet. I still adore her a lot and miss her every time I play the main story. (Ignore that I'm a day late!)
It's not quite halloween yet, but it's about time for my October Riko tradition~
And Ruby's birthday too! Love September lol. If we get a season 2 I really hope we get to explore the whole fairy aspect and how that works / whether Dia is a fairy too??
I'm not late- (Work has been hard this week) Anyways, Riko's birthday! I really like the genjitsu no Yohane Riko, she's very cute and awkward.
I swear I'm not dead I just drowned in the new Genshin update- I love her a completely normal amount (I cannot WAIT for the rest of Fontaine's story to come out).
Birthday Icons round 2 let's go! I always forget Chika's birthday is like, immediately as soon as August hits. ...Wait, we're in August already?!
All the birthday icons together at last!

Last but not least in this icon series, we have Yoshiko!
(And by the way, have you heard her song this year? It sounds so cool!!)
I wonder if anyone managed to guess the reason behind the colour theme?
It's totally not nearly the end of the month and I'm only now posting my pride month art- Regardless, I hope everyone has enjoyed all the rainbows and parades this year! Let's keep fighting the good fight, for a more equal future for everyone.
(As an aside, this is the last of the Honkai art I'll have for a while before delving back into Love Live and the new Yohane anime~)
