St Dymphna, patron of those suffering from mental illness, pray for us!
Happy Feast of St. Dymphna! Let's pray for and ask the intercession of St Dymphna for all those who struggle with mental health, that God would bring them peace and strength and surround them with good people to support and love them.
That’s so funny I actually got prenatal care at Planned Parenthood.
Your experiences are not universal
Very, very few PP clinics offer prenatal care. More probably would if they actually decided to act like a clinic and not an abortion mill.
When I was pregnant with my oldest I was directed to Planned Parenthood as there were very limited resources available as far as prenatal care in the area I was living at. I had called ahead to make an appointment and to confirm that the Planned Parenthood did do prenatal care I was told that they did but it was limited and that I should still come in get a confirmation pregnancy test and std testing/check up and they could direct me to better options as far as doctors as well as other resources
When I went in there I went through the usual questions, confirmation pregnancy test, STD testing and then the nurse told me that they would schedule my ultrasound soon and we could see how far along I was, i was excited and asked for a list of other pregnancy resources that i had been told i could get. When I asked for more resources the nurse looked so confused here it turns out that when I made my appointment they had said I wanted to end my pregnancy
The nurse told me that they only did ultrasounds before abortion so they could make sure the baby wasn't further along in development then originally thought. I was terrified and Confused I made it clear that I was not planning on terminating my pregnancy and that I was told planned parenthood offered prenatal care and could help me find other resources
After I said that I wasn't planning on ending pregnancy the nurse was very rude to me through the entire rest of my appointment I was given a bottle of prenatal vitamins and told that was the only kind of prenatal care they offered to women who were not looking for abortions I was not directed to any further resources or doctors like I had been promised
There was a group of protesters outside the planned parenthood handing out fliers for pregnancy resources and they helped me find a doctor and get me set up in parenting classes and birth classes and even offered counseling and help with baby supplies
Bad Ideas for Minecraft Biomes
I’m back with more bad ideas
cornfield: The only plant or tree is corn. The only resource is corn. The corn is 2 and a half blocks high and you can walk freely through it but you can’t see anything without jumping above the corn. You can collect corn, which becomes popcorn when cooked. terrible things spawn in there
meat: the ground is made of meat blocks, which can be broken to get raw meat and which make a squelching noise when you walk on them. like the badlands biome, the meat is in strata that lie over top of each other: mutton, beef, salmon, chicken, pork, cod. It is cooked in areas where it contacts lava, and there are random patches of rotting flesh that spawn maggots. there are bone blocks where stone would begin in other biomes.
kudzu forest: a variant of normal forest where everything in sight is covered by kudzu. You can clear it but there’s nothing to do with it but plant it again. It grows faster than anything else in the game. It will cover your house. It will cover your crops and kill them. It will cover your bed and suffocate you while you sleep. There is no escape. TNT and fire both temporarily kill it, but only temporarily.
Chernobyl: there’s probably cool loot somewhere, and you can see villages in the distance, but you’ll never find them because you can’t go 50 blocks into this biome without taking radiation damage and dying. Anything you collect in this biome is so radioactive you can’t carry it in your inventory without it killing you.
Walmart: a (nearly) empty Walmart. the fluorescent lights glow in the day, and switch abruptly off at night. There’s sometimes cool loot and all sorts of food. something horrible lives here...
the North Pole: just a bunch of ice. He spawns exclusively here. he knows your sins. he sees you when you’re sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. He sees all. He knows what you have done. There is no escape.
hot springs: it’s just the plains but the water kills you when you touch it
trailer park: actually just variants on normal biomes where the villages are replaced with trailer parks.
candy cane forest: self explanatory. You can eat the trees but you take diabetes damage.
Endor: Iike giant tree taiga but there are Ewoks
southern gothic: a forest biome but the colors are washed out, pale girls in dark dresses wander about, and abandoned churches spawn
You guys, you guys I am SCREAMING PLEASE LOOK at this utterly BREATHTAKING art of my OC Sylvie by @hrgwin (who is, by the way, an absolute sweetheart please commission them).

Fallout universe Health and Food-related headcanons
Because I’m a holistic health and homesteading nut… :’)
Sea salt is a major export of coastal states.
Another export of coastal states is whale blubber, which is extremely rare and difficult to obtain. It is a high-end source of carbs (see studies on Inuit diets if you want more about that) and would be a delicacy within upper-class settlements.
Salt is one of the only existing seasonings (and is used heavily in meat preservation, making cold cuts and little dried fish quite common!), any internationally sourced spices would have long since been used up, never to be replenished.
Because of this, Peppercorns are extremely rare, and a very high priced commodity prized more-so as conversation pieces than culinary tools.
Salt is also used in hair products. Mixed with warm water and vodka/rum it makes a great volumizer!
Tea brewed with hubflower has similar effects to caffeine.
Hubflower and mentats make one hell of an energy drink, like ginkgo tea on crack lol
We can assume that bees still exist post-war, because of the remaining flora in the Wastes. Honey is the major sweetener, although it is sold at a premium because beekeeping would be a very dangerous career. (Raiding parties would hit beekeeping farms hard)
If you see someone without a pocket-full of pemmican on them they’re probably dead tbh
Ketosis is common but not completely necessary. Farms and settlements often have razorgrain, maize/corn, tatos and various tubers, which are the major carbohydrate sources.
Razorgrain and corn flour/meal is a winter staple. Most people consist off of breads and snow-buried caches filled with thin meats in areas where the ground becomes inhospitable with the cold months.
Despite conflicting dialogue concerning the existence of fish, FISH DEFINITELY STILL EXIST
Pruno, moonshine, mead and beer are extremely common, as the means to craft them are widely available.
Common household nutrient supplements would include: cured liver, bone broth, and gelatin.
Daily oral care consists of alcohol-based mouthwash (straight vodka, preferably), and brushing with tallow soap.
Tallow-based soap is readily available and decent hygiene really isn’t a huge issue with anyone who isn’t a piss-poor drifter.
ok but can you imagine cornbread with farm sourced honey and mirelurk eggs because i’m hungry as hell rn
In controlled environments with plenty of rest and medical supervision, stimpaks can help a person make a miraculous recovery from injury, and erase scarring. However, if used in a high-tension situation coupled with little rest and lack of consistent nutrition, scarring and/or perminant damage will occur.
The real-world equivalents of (some of the) Fallout drugs are: Med-X: Morphine Psycho: PCP Mentats: Methylphenidate Jet: Methamphetamine Calmex: Ketamine Day Tripper: Oxycodone
People raised in Vaults or who have defected from environments like the Institute have high mortality rates. If their lack of hardcore survival knowledge doesn’t kill them first, the shock of radiation poisoning will.
Obesity is next to impossible and a luxury only EXTREMELY wealthy people can afford. As excess weight gain is a product of energy storage (specifically carbs and sugars), the high protein/fat and low carb/sugar diet of the typical Wastelander would leave them in a state of constant energy absorption, coupled with the fact that not everyone is lucky enough to get even one meal a day.
AND THERE WILL BE MORE, THERE’S ALWAYS MORE
Y’all, I love stuff like this.
My only criticism of canon is with Jet. It takes fertilizer and plastic to make: indicating that the fertilizer is the source of the drug. I know it’s supposed to make you ‘faster’ but I propose it’s all in your head and things are happening in real time and all that is changed are your own inhibition and perception of that time.
I would propose that it’s not the Brahmin fertilizer but what grows in it: psilocybin mushrooms. Making Brahmin worth their weight in caps, and those that partake in Jet high on concentrated, atomized shrooms. It makes more sense for the components. Since meth is like combining a bunch of chemicals….
Brave New World
Brave New World is the unofficial sequel to Fear and Loathing in New Vegas, loosely based on this server's canon. It's set in 2288 in the Commonwealth, a year after the events of Fallout 4 and five years after the events of Fear and Loathing.
In Brave New World, enter the East Coast of the American wasteland as factions vie for control and dominance of this rugged, war-torn region of the post-apocalyptic United States. The server's still brand new so all who join get the unique "Founding Member" role. Come on in, bring your OCs from here if you like! Or create entirely new ones. Your role in the East Coast's future may become a significant one.

This sculpture is called Miscarriage
Holy shit
This is beautiful
Actually, no, this sculpture is called “Memorial for Unborn Children/The Child Who Was Never Born” and was sculpted by Martin Hudáček from Slovakia. It was made not just as a memorial for miscarriages, but for aborted children as well. The child can be seen as comforting and/or forgiving their mother, which is part of what makes this piece of art so powerful. The artist is a devout Christian and is pro-life and loves children.
Please give credit to the artist and don’t erase the important message of his work!

If there was a way to run SUPER MEGA AD BLOCKER on this website I fucking would
“Please oh please open up your computer to a porn virus! If you don’t you’re evil!”
Freeloader Comin’ through!
We didn’t start this war internet users have with ads - We might have moaned about banner ads, but it was only when they started making noises when we might be listening to music or a podcast or whatever, causing two sound sorces at once, that we started trying to block ads universally rather than just a specific type of ad (pop ups).
And since then ads have gotten worse - Actual malware rather than merely breaking one of the fundamental sins of web design - though shalt not autoplay anything with sound. And the more aggressive a website is with ‘please turn off adblock’ the less I trust it to bother to vet ads and advertisers to make sure they’re not installing malware.
Not to mention that the idea that avoiding ads is “freeloading” is hilariously backward. Advertisement is a transaction between the platform and the advertiser, the user has no obligation to provide the views/clicks the platform has promised. Using an adblocker isn’t freeloading in the same way that leaving the room to get a snack during a commercial break isn’t cheating the tv network.
Ok y’all, I work as a web developer and I’m here to tell you that you are 100% right and that it’s shit. SO I’m going to tell you how to get around websites that block you from using their website if you’re using an adblocker.
Every website uses a language called JavaScript; long story short it’s a website language that allows developers to do the crazy shit you see on websites. Now the easiest thing to do is to disable JavaScript to stop them from knowing you have an adblocker:
Oh no! I’m blocked from viewing the website. It would be a terrible shame if I were able to right click and select the “inspect” feature
Click the three dots in the top right and open the “Settings” Menu
And then scrolled down to “Debugger” and checked the “Disable Javascript Option”
And then just refreshed the page

Happy Confederate Memorial Day from South Carolina, (and North Carolina). Different states have different dates for Confederate Memorial Day, here in SC it’s the 10th of May.
