mega man fandom is awesome because it showcases such an obvious split between surface level casual fans of the games and awesome people who have something wrong with them
average post in the mega man tag: this is Proto Man, a character that I think is really cool. Here he is fighting with Mega Man, who is also pretty cool!
second post down: This is Bright Man (ブライトマン, Buraitoman), a one off boss who appears in one game, a minor role in one manga story, and one episode of a defunct 90's cartoon. The only canonical information on him comes from an optional CD drive from a game that nobody played. Here is a 500 word post about how I would vivisect him in detail with diagrams.
There is nothing more I hate than making reference sheets, so I'm forcing myself to create 50 of them (eventually).
I've never been a fan of those monthly art challanges, because having to finish one drawing per day just isn't right for me. So instead I'm letting myself have all the time in the world, but eventually I'll get there because I'm tired of seeing a meme that makes me think "Oh this really fits my oc I should draw it!" Only to realize that said oc has no design and exists exclusively in my mind.
Not only that, I'd like each character I create to have story attached to them, so I am also forced to write 50 character personalities and backstories. Lots of 50s for me this year, hopefully it helps me improve much more.
And maybe generate some interest for my humble little world :-)
"There exist Animals who are a little more clever than you expect. They knowingly press the buttons on the remote to get to a specific channel, they seem to steal your clothes to wear them while refusing to ever be naked, and maybe they log on to your computer to post on their hidden blog you have no idea about."
"While it's true that their faces do somewhat resemble humans, they have been considered below them. And yet, when an "Animal" is living life just as humans do, what is really setting them apart from you anymore? No longer can you call them "Animals", instead they are Chimera."
"Angels like me, we believe that someday, the Chimera will stand as equals alongside you. We understand that it's hard for to accept this, so we will be the ones to guide them. We will teach them to live just as you do, until the day when you've finally accepted them into your hearts."
Character 1, Lenz
"You may have known me as Ivori before, sorry to say she's no longer with us. Even Angels are subject to death and time, but at the cost of my wisdom and memories, I remain as youthful as ever. Even after thousands of years.
So please keep in mind, I have no idea who you are. And you have no idea who I am either. Ivori is no more, I have taken her place. But don't worry, I'll be here to guide you little Chimera, just as she did. Just give me some time, it takes a while to collect my wisdom back..."
Character 2, Paisley
"It's no secret that Animals have always been below humans, to them there is no difference between a Chimera and a Beast. Despite that, from a union of Human and Animal, I was born. I was still a baby when The radiant Angel, Ivori, took pity on me and only me. She brought me to the homeland of Chimera, while my mother was left on the outskirts of the Grand Wildland.
I have never seen the face of my mother, and I don't particularly care about family. Her only contribution to my life, leaving behind my sister before ultimately disappearing, never to be seen again. That seems to be the only good thing she'd done for us."
Character 3, Lepis
"It is said that the serpents were cursed to crawl on their bellies, so when a little serpent was born with two legs, the humans were very intrigued. Some saw him as a sign of the apocalypse, while others thought he ought to be displayed for all to see.
A radiant Angel saw that he was crafty, just as serpents always were. She told him about Chimeras, and invited him to their homeland. Ever since then, he had always remained by her side. Even as she dissolved into oblivion. On that day, he had witnessed the reversal of time. From the dissolving Angel, a Noble Maiden had blossomed. The Radiant Angel had bore fruit, so the little serpent decided to be a fruit farmer.
....It's been two and a half decades, and now that Noble Maiden has kicked me out to live with some boyfriend..."
And that's all for now! I thought it'd be more interesting to write their little introductions as if they're saying it, instead of "this guy did this and he did that and then he died". Maybe my writing is absolute crap but hey, I'll never get better if I don't work on it.
Tumblr is a lot better for unlimited yapping, bluesky's word limit is very....limiting.
Due to poor planning on my part, my megaman fanfiction blog is my main one while my original characters are on a side blog. I cannot be bothered to make a seperate account when tumblr doesn't have a proper switch account option so...yeah.
I'm reblogging this here to kinda let people know where I've been this whole time, yeah I forced myself to make 50 character sheets so I've been dealing with that mostly. So perhaps, since you are following my account...it's because you enjoy my art?! So maybe you'd be interested in my blog where I'll be posting...my art.
Okay but I won't lie to you, I see that my regular art is significantly different than my megaman art. Because I've never really tried to make robot masters to look like how I draw "regular humans", so maybe this is disturbing to see? Or maybe you can instantly tell it's my artstyle...regardless, I appreciate any support that I've gotten :-)
Pro tip if you ever want to get into any coding: Don't
Because you'll make a post a few days ago lamenting over how hard your life if because you don't know how Python's rounding function works
But then you watch a few online tutorials and go "Oh yeah I could totally make a Stardew mod" tHAT IS THE DEVIL(I.E. YOUR HUBRIS) SPEAKING!!! DONT LISTEN TO IT!!!
is it ethical for one who is called "dwln-22", who owns a completely snake man themed blog...to talk about other fandoms here?
During my time away, I ended up watching one piece. You see, i used to kind of resent one piece because it had a character called "snakeman", so sometimes the snake man tag would only have him instead of MY snake man.
But then I actually ended liking the show, so I guess I'll forgive snakeman/gear 4...because luffy is actually one of the best written protagonists I've ever seen...
mindshift robot masters as a whole don't hibernate as the cold is good for them since theyre air cooled, however. some of them do estivate when conditions are too hot for them to function properly. like many of the 1st numbers since theyre built for living a different lifestyle than being stuck in a facility all day giving out orders.
Oh yeah, that totally makes sense. It's always slightly bothered me how snake and toad supposedly hibernate in winter, but in reality cold climates are literally ideal for robots. Well I suppose that's what I get for overthinking a non canon gag...
mega man mindshift is an au with a major focus on robot masters, particularly featuring canon divergent worldbuilding, speculative engineering, horror of gory and psychological forms (leaning towards the latter, however)
While i am working on developing each individual game, i also focus a lot of my effort onto what sort of situation robot masters as a whole are experiencing, their own culture and engineering + programming.
As well as this, i often find myself obsessing over individual robot masters and giving them their own situation, unique personality, engineering and fleshing them out into something more than one-dimensional kill fodder. my eventual goal is to give this treatment to every robot master (excluding time and oil)... which as you can imagine is one hell of a task.
as this has been my messy little brainproject throughout most of last year, i haven't exactly done everything in order so there's a lot of missing and under/undeveloped parts of it and everything is subject to change. however, the parts that i have developed are often very detailed.
some of the lore i've went into depth with under the cut. feel free to ask questions! i love yapping :)
(green = i've done a lot, blue = i've done some things, red = i've not done much. difficult to say exactly how much ive done for each because theres a lot of subplots, character-specific lore and a lot of the work i've done tends to slot into the gaps between each game rather than directly into one)

Ahem, I would love to hear everything about Megaman 3 even if there isn't so much. And maybe in particular I'd want to hear about....a certain...green robot
snake man hasn't had his turn on the chopping block yet, but i do have a voiceclaim for him! (Murdoc Niccals from Gorillaz)
mm3 is a part of the first trilogy of mindshift games and its thus designed in mind of having a unique identity. and aside from its special movement tech gimmicks, it is ✨space themed✨
all of the 3rd numbers (aside from shadow) were trained and designed as astronauts and living representations of the future, at least until mm3 happened and after that they werent stable enough to be sent into space. so they all work in astronomy now and are good at their job for the most part
aside from one. snake man.
snake man was not designed for the sciencey stuff like the others. he was the one who was gonna be running around and exploring and all of that. he is INCREDIBLY SALTY about everything going the way it did. he feels pretty useless about it and takes it out on others
if he's not doing a chore somewhere or arguing with his brothers he'll be getting frazzled with spark man in an attempt to forget about his problems and it seldom works but at least he can vent to someone who probably won't remember it afterwards. or he'll be rotting in his room and arguing with people on the internet or making dark electronica music.
he's got a particularly difficult relationship with hard man. hard man tends to act like a leader of sorts in a lot of cases and of course keeping the third numbers together is no easy task. so he is often very sick of snakeman's shit. he doesnt treat him with much sympathy or understanding in the slightest which only eggs on snake's pissed off spite fuelled ass to cause as much problems for him as he can.
aaaanyways i thinks thats enough even without the specengineering stuff
this guy sucks so fucking bad thank you for requesting snakeman content, making me think about him and thus letting this masterpiece happen 💯 💯 💯
Perfect, exactly what I'd expect from such a creature. The part about him arguing with people on the internet is hilarious to me because it makes me think if he has a human persona to argue with or if he has an official robot master account where he publicly argues with humans. Both are equally funny. Imagine finding out your mutual was actually an ai the whole time? Or imagine if a Mars rover had a twitter account where it just argued with people all day. And also it made music? That really reminds me to explore the relationship between robot masters and humans...hmm...
Also, I'm curious about how you interpret the idea of him needing to hibernate? I mean, I think it's more of a gag than anything but I personally made it into what's essentially a robot medical condition lol
Oh and of course, despite being this menace of a robot he does canonically like Toad man, but that could be interpreted in a lot of ways. Like in a platonic way? Romantic? Canniballistic...? Antagonistic? Who knows, I'm curious to see your interpretation. I really enjoy the idea of this au and hope to see a lot more in the future!
It's been so long that I need to look deep within myself to find the snake man headcanons. Actually I remember having a goal of making a detailed post for Snake's relationship with each of his brothers, but i have no idea who i have or haven't done it with. Oops.

More random robot thoughts while I'm sleepy and trying to get back to bed.... Also I'm using the "proper names" I gave for the robots if anyone's confused. First time I use them, I'll make it clear who I'm talking about in parentheses.
Due to how I feel robot masters end up developing their personalities (their AI), I like to imagine they have super strong bonds with certain people/robots. However, this can be a double edged sword for them, as that immense trust and care can quickly turn into immense hurt or betrayal.
It's not uncommon to find a newly booted robot, who by default is a bit more childlike and curious in nature, following an older robot (or in some cases, a human) around like a little duckling. They're likely looking for some guidance, and it's clear that this older robot has things more figured out (especially since their AI training really is mostly just to ensure how they interact with others is, at baseline, acceptable and safe). This leads to some robots seeming "similar" in personality, but they are all unique.
As an example of this, due to me also going by "serial number dictates when they were made": A good amount of the first generation of Light bots ended up learning from and mimicking Rock as their AI developed. Though the one who did the most of that and is most close with Rock due to it is Breve (Cutman). Dr. Light was hard pressed to find Rock without him tagging along for a long while, but he found it sweet in a way.
As for betrayal, and a bit of showing that that strong bond goes both ways a lot of times: An opposite of this would be Kanon (Geminiman) and Capriccio's (Snakeman's) currently strained relationship. Prior to a specific incident, they used to be quite close, and Kanon would look out for his younger sibling any chance he got (when not oogling himself in the mirror that is fhshdj). However, since that incident, the two stay FAR away from each other, almost as though they were strangers. The few times they DO interact, it's not pleasant. Still in this case, personality influence is reflected. Despite it being different in how it displays with Kanon, Cap is now more self-centered and cares about his own interests before others as a result of mimicking Kanon for a bit.
Ohh I really like this idea, it's very cute. Especially the part about robot masters developing their AI as they "age", in my own headcanon the first few months of a robot master's existence is very important for their development.
In my same headcanon, some robots were sent to outer space a little too early and spent their most important moments all alone on a distant planet...(Ahem Spark and Snake Ahem)
and some robots ended up developing a personality that made them very unlikeable because of that...(ahem. Snake man. Ahem.)
(directly replying to both the post and the extra babble in the tags)
He (Snakeman) is just a very unlikable stinky man...(/Affectionate) Though my reasoning for it definitely is... Very much my own, let's just say.
I very much used him as an example due to there being... A lot of questions as to how he ended up so "wrong" coming from others who know him. But that's something I'm going to have to elaborate on another time.
Also also, the idea of them changing due to being sent away too early.... My heart... 😭 But I am interested in that thought process very much! 👀
I love robots with trauma that cause behavioural issues <3
Snake being "wrong" is exactly why I love him so much, I just love coming up for explanations for all his actions throughout his every appearance. Like when he tormented Blues about Rock and Roll forgiving him...I mean, maybe he's trying to encourage Blues in his own Snakey way. Blues is pretty closed off so maybe being harsh and direct is the only way he'd even end up hearing it.
There's this idea I had that I never got to draw, in my headcanon Snake often travels for his work. So he always ends up meeting a lot of foreign robot masters. I think it would be extremely funny if he got along really well with these foreign robot masters, and they have a really good impression of him. Meanwhile, he is known as a literal menace among his family.
Like, I had this idea where they're at some kind of robot convention. Gemini and Top are hanging out and spot Plant walking in the distance, they think "Woah, that guy looks really cool. Maybe we should invite him for a drink?"
Then they argue about the best way to approach him, only to see Snake casually walk up to Plant and give him a hug. They're about to go there and stop him, but then Plant happily hugs him back and greets him. Then they see their social menace of a brother casually talking to this robot they were so desperate to impress like it's nothing.
Then next year, the same thing happens when they see Tundra Man. Again, Snakes walk up to the guy and like, climbs on him to pat his head. They're mortified at Snake's shenanigans only to see that Tundra is completely fine with it and happily greets him.
Everytime they question Snake he's always like "Oh yeah I met the guy when I was travelling for work, and we became good friends." or "Oh yeah this is Toad's little brother, I met him when I was visiting them in Russia." and they're so confused how this guy made friends with "cool" robot masters.
I know in the SnakeToad guy, but I do like a little SnakePlant once in a while...anyone else see it? I think they'd be cute.
Lately ive been into the idea of robot masters not really having romantic relationships, they just have a special friends who they especially like to hang out with <3 So you see, all Snake ships can be true at once. Love is powerful.
I imagine they meet while Snake has work in Brazil, and he ends up staying with them as like an exchange robot(?). Anyways, I imagine Dr. Astil would kindly ask Snake to befriend Plant because "He doesn't really have any robot master friends". Truthfully, Snake didn't really care about that, he just wants someone to mess with while his brothers aren't around. (He secretly misses them).
Plant would be amused by Snake's harsh and authentic personality, he'll casually call Plant sensitive for being depressed over deforestation, stuff like that. But Plant would really appreciate how Snake is honest and doesn't pretend to be something he's not. Eventually they'd develop a friendship where they can (affectionately) argue with eachother.
Also, since they're in Brazil (southern hemisphere) Snake wouldn't end up hibernating and he could actually enjoy the "winter" holidays. Though, maybe Snake would try to hide that fact since he doesn't want to tell Plant about his condition. So he desperately tries to pretend that he definitely knows how Christmas is supposed to work. He would get found out, eventually. Maybe plant invites him to a skating rink, and Snake is like "Nah I can totally handle this..."
Then before he knows it he's passed out right there in the skating rink. When he wakes up, he is greeted by a very displeased Plant who was just told by Dr. Astil about Snake's condition. He'd be pretty mad that Snake didn't think to tell him such a thing, which is disappointing since he specifically liked Snake's honestly.
Now, this would lead to a vulnerable and touching moment from Snake, who admits that he doesn't like letting people know about that if he doesn't have to. Because he doesn't want to be treated differently, he just wants to be a "normal" robot master. He doesn't want Plant to treat him more softly just because of his condition...so he chose to hide it as long as he could.
(Perhaps this happened before, maybe Roll started treating Snake a little more softly after his condition was discovered. She used to be stern and have no problem scolding him, but now she lets him off easy every time. He keeps pushing her limits but he never snaps, which he doesn't like at all because he can tell that she's holding back her feelings. He doesn't like how she can't be honest with him anymore. Very sad and tragic!)
Anyways, Plant would immediately call Snake stupid for doing that. To which Snake happily insults him back. They spend the new year together and before they know it, it's time for Snake to leave.
Perhaps, some tears are shed by Plant, and Snake will of course call him sensitive for that. They share one final hug, and promise to meet eachother again someday...
