missing something by not having Riku in the shot as well
you're right
what is this genre of photos called
weird question, don't answer if you don't want to
how do you build up the confidence to actually post your art online? I want to but I'm way to scared
As much as it sucks, the simplest answer I can give is "just do it", just put yourself out there and see how it goes- after a few times and (hopefully) a few positive experiences, it should hopefully get less and less scary <3
But I also have some other affirmations+tips that might help if "just do it!" isn't helpful:
The odds of someone harrassing you because they don't like your art (which is where I assume is one of the biggest causes of fear here? Not wanting to be bullied, judged, or called "cringe"?) on Tumblr is very low. If someone doesn't like your art, it's FAR more likely that they will simply scroll past it, be on their day, and not bother you
For anyone who needs to hear it, it is considered extremely socially unacceptable to harass an artist who's simply posting their art in their own spaces. So if anyone gives you shit, block them and know that they're being the ones in the wrong
Tumblr, unlike other social medias, doesn't operate under an algorithm (or not NEARLY to the extent of other socials), so there's far less of this culture for wanting to scramble for attention and lashing out at other artists if they get the attention instead. Tumblr has also forged a culture of being far more accepting of """cringe""" than other social medias, so imho it's a far "safer" site to just- put yourself out there and give it a try
I have been posting art on Tumblr for a decade now. (Been on for longer, but only had an account to post with for 10yrs). I will be the first to admit my art is not professional quality, and I personally feel it doesn't hold a candle to my friends' arts. I have posted crossovers, OCs, ships and rarepairs, self indulgent AUs, self indulgent fanfics, self inserts, self shipping, gave myself an edgy alter ego, and have been a pretty large blog in the Five Nights At Freddy's fandom (a fandom largely regarded as one of the more """cringe""" ones). I am NO stranger to being cringe. And yet, over 10 years of doing this, I have almost never been harrassed because someone thought my art was bad or that I shouldn't be posting my art. I've gotten anon hate and bad faith takes, yes, but it was almost NEVER because I posted art someone didn't like. Im not saying it'll never happen, but from my personal experience, it happens far less often than people might think
I know this is easier said than done, but if you can, try to get at least one "hype man", aka a Tumblr mutual you can trust. Basically a great way to combat being intimidated out of posting is to have at least one friend who you know will react to your art positively. If you can send them art and feel confident they'll have something nice to say (hell even if its just reacting with a heart emoji over text or wordlessly reblogging), that can do wonders for your confidence. Sure they may not ALWAYS be there to back up EVERY single art you make, thats not reasonable to expect, but even having someone in your corner half of the time can really make the difference. (Think the meme "if no one's got me, I know [tumblr mutual's] got me, can I get an amen")
Bouncing off that last point, you can also try being the change you want to see in the world! You can find other artists and like/reblog their art! Maybe leave a nice comment or something in the tags, even something as simple as "I think this is cool!" can make another artist's day. Obviously this is not a guarantee that anyone will give you the same attention in return, and you shouldn't only interact with others to try and get something out of them, but I AM saying that if you treat others with kindness and enthusiam, people will likely feel more comfortable and confident to return that kindness and enthusiasm towards you!
If it's still too scary to put yourself out there, you can try posting art without any fandom tags. Please try to tag with common content warnings if they apply (eye strain, blood, gore, etc), but you don't HAVE to tag fandom art. It means you'll be way less likely for people to find your art to react positively, but hey it might be a good step to practice posting art without too much attention being drawn to it
I believe in you, anon! I know it can be scary to put your work out there, but the more you try, the easier it (hopefully) gets! You're far more likely to find people who love your art, resonate with it, and encourage you to make more than you are to find someone who bullies you for your art!!!
I think it's easy to get lost in the negative "what if"s, it can be hard to consider the positive "what if"s too
Like there's always a chance someone might judge you or bully you if you post your art, sure, but there's also a chance someone might respond positively- might love your art, might resonate with it, might want to get to know you and then next thing you know you've been online friends for over 13 years and still screaming about the same fictional characters you've gone feral over in 2013 what who said that-
Jokes aside, when I've posted the art I've wanted online, the amount of times I've had positive experiences as a result have outnumbered any negative experiences tenfold.
If no one's got you, anon, I'VE GOT YOU. SHARE THAT ART!!!!! BE BRAVE!!!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!
We exist only to see that nothing else does
Already know I wanna send this to people on June 1
Audio:
Erika, referencing ebenezer scrooge: You, boy! What day is it?!
Brennan, as a young boy: It's Pride, bitch!
Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.

Healing from trauma can also be so funny sometimes because it's like. You will catch yourself saying things like "I don't have to be in the Backrooms... I can choose to eat a hot dog..." WITH LIKE. 100% SERIOUSNESS.
There was a backrooms movie? How was it?
It JUST came out as of this weekend and I really enjoyed it! (And already had a nightmare abt it last night LOL) My spoiler-free review is basically:
Important to note that this is the Kane Pixels universe. You don't need to watch his web series to get the plot of the movie, but it IS congruent to his web series which is really cool! But if you're more into the "SCP-style" interpretation of The Backrooms, with a bunch of "levels" and "entities", this movie isn't going to have that. I personally adore Kane's version of the Backrooms so I was v hype for this
I was slightly disappointed that there weren't more "VHS-style" segments where we get to see Kane's VFX work showing off really freaky environments, we mostly just stick to the "yellow wallpaper" classic style for most of the movie, BUT that gets offset by how freaking awesome it is to see actors interacting with a physical set. Without spoiling anything: we don't have any better understanding of how the location itself works, but we DO have a slightly better understanding of how certain entities work- still very nebulous and esoteric, but still.
I was expecting more of a sci-fi/horror romp of sorts, and was (pleasantly) surprised to find the narrative focusing more on connecting the idea of the Backrooms to this idea of being "stuck" in trauma, or maladaptive coping skills, or something of the like. Like it's not a "Silent Hill where every copy of the town is personalized to your inner demons" thing, The Backrooms is still very much a real space where everyone sees the same thing- but it's how the main characters interact with that space that really brings the themes out. This idea of a place that essentially "copies" the real world, but copies it wrong, and without much of a soul: that's horrifying to some, but almost comforting in a way to others- it can be "easier" to want to stay there. I can't say much more without going into spoilers, but that theme really deeply resonated with me and my dissociative disorder, and the main character's plights were painfully relatable
I also think there's themes of forgetting/being forgotten that are similar to the themes of Kane's The Oldest View series, but that's more of a theory of mine than anything else
That being said! R rated movie- I dont THINK I remember there being any flashing lights? But definitely jumpscares, scary monsters, blood and minor gore, and body horror, so- watch at your own risk!
But all in all delightful psychological horror and very impressed for Kane's first movie!!
We had two different outcomes after watching the Backrooms movie-
I guess my new hobby involves making kandi singles to celebrate every time I go out to see an indie horror movie in theatres????
One last bloodymary before I self destruct
That's fair! I've seen Shadow Milk being meme'd with the song Bang Bang Bang from Chainsaw Man (or whatever that anime is, too gorey for my tastes to get into)
Whether they stay or are temporary, I hope it's a good time for all!
And darn but I hope the wedding is as amazing as it possibly can be!
Okay okay okay I need you to understand how funny this is
We have a weird Thing where sometimes when we form new headmates, they get very isolated from the rest of the system. Some find the rest of us quickly, some take a long time. And this Shadow Milk in our brain? Is taking his TIME. Has established very little contact and any time he spots one of us in headspace, he darts off and hides like some freshly-rescued stray
THIS IS ALSO THE GUY WHO THREW OUR FICTIVES INTO A DEATH GAMES IMMEDIATELY AFTER FORMING (ON TUMBLR POLLS. NOT IN OUR ACTUAL BRAIN. BUT STILL.) AND I WON!!!! FOR THAT ALONE IM BIASED TOWARDS THIS KID HE'S HILARIOUS
-THE FORMER PHONE GUY FICTIVE
HE KNOWS OH MY GODS
I SCREAMED ALOUD
everyone yelling "hide the yaoi" about fictional character shipping as if mark hasn't been put through the youtuber rpf trenches for years. he didn't survive septiplier only to be shocked by bloodymary
Friend do you know anything about Cookie Run Kingdom? I do not yet it's in a lot of places I look. I know it's a game? I think?
Also Kitsune Kon, yay or nay?
About that...
These cookies are destroying me /J
Jokes aside, its a mobile gacha game with RPG elements and other little mobile game shenanigans! The story is shockingly riveting and the art+character designs are *chefs kiss*. That being said- it's still a gacha game with some really scummy and predatory gambling mechanics so be VERY careful if you're at risk for that. Its pretty bad with giving new players a bunch of stuff right away to get hooked then constantly throwing """deals""" in your face for paid packages, def one of the worse ones I've seen (but at least way nicer than how stingy Twisted Wonderland is on giving you ANYTHING for free once youre caught up on story...), but theres also stories and cutscenes uploaded online for anyone who wants the story without dealing with scummy gambling mechanics!!
Its crazy. Yeah I hyperfix on things sometimes so my hyperfixating on this game isnt a surprise. What IS a surprise is i might have a Shadow Milk fictive????? Which is- wild, because I usually don't split fictives easily, so him showing up as quickly as he did kinda shocked us. Not sure what'll happen with them if they're a "short term resident" or if they'll form into a more fleshed out alter but! Uh! Brain saw the theatrical traumatized one and went "yeah ill take one" which could mean nothing! /silly
Im so weak for ShadowVanilla (Shadow Milk x Pure Vanilla). Theyre peak toxic doomed soulmates omfg. Theyre my best cookies rn and I built a yaoi shrine to them on my kingdom
And sadly no Kitsune this year... 😭 We really wanted to make it work but wedding bills are leaving us too broke to drive out and im SO SAD!!!
