I think that this week could have done better for five reasons:

1- If we scrapped The Caretaker and expounded on Danny this week in this position, including his background and all, I think I’d have taken an immediate liking to him. I think that the PTSD that he suffered would have been an integral part of his story and would have made him a more rounded character than what he did this week.

2- Courtney Woods, exactly why was she there in the first place? Comic relief? Erm, she felt a bit superfluous to requirements. But that’s because the Doctor never got to tell us how Courtney became the US President. Would involve a constitutional amendment though, since unless Courtney held US citizenship at birth, she’d never become US President as a naturalized citizen.

3- Hermione Norris. She sounds like a good candidate as the next Doctor. A bit more grounded and less jumpy. I was expecting 12 to be very unjumpy, but this episode saw him make many (literal and metaphorical) leaps.

4- Were those 100 nukes the last 100 nukes? That would have been a CND if so… They could have written it in!?

5- Can we get a Clara Oswald spinoff already? But it was a good episode, mind!
