Drabble: 53 "I spent Sunday in bed." Any combo Nancy/Max/Holly/Mike post ST? The siblings 😭
i got hooked on a specific mental image and couldn't find a way to get the actual line of dialogue in there but trust that it's in the spirit of the thing:
-
Nancy Wheeler thrives on routine, so she finds it a little bit funny—now, with Holly home and her mother stable and Max awake and the memory of Vecna’s head rolling across the floor burned into her memory—that there is, in fact, a routine that comes with saving the world.
There are hugs, and exhausted laughter with an edge of hysteria. Checking each other over, checking in with each other. Trips to the hospital and calls to their parents. Tears that come, all of them taking turns, spurned on by seemingly nothing. More hugs, more laughter.
This time around, there are hasty radio messages sent out, and failsafes to ensure the military keep their word and not make them all disappear in the middle of the night. And there are things to clean up, to rebuild. The same volunteers who propped the town up back in 1986—who brought casseroles to grieving families after the mall in ‘85, who swept the woods for Will back in ‘83—come out to hold each other up once more.
And through it all, there is the familiar drag of her exhausted body through the first days of the aftermath.
This time, though, she does something she’s never done before.
She’s still awake some thirty hours after the bomb goes off and the Upside Down closes for good. It’s an early Sunday morning, sunny and bright, just warm enough to make the late autumn chill seem pleasant.
Leitmotifs drive me insane, like I hear *repeated melody that has an association with a person, idea, or situation* and I go *tears up the fucking rug like a dog*

the moment I heard elphaba's delivery of "there's a girl i know..." in i'm not that girl i knew i had to draw this comic, i strongly recommend listening to it while you read for the full experience!
this comic is a companion to this piece (which was inspired by glinda's delivery of the same line in the i'm not that girl reprise).
pages 1-4 are from elphie's pov, pages 5-8 are from glinda's.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENNA ORTEGA! (September 27, 2002)
“I love taking risks. They feel like a challenge, and I’m so competitive with myself. I think with every challenge, you come to learn more about yourself, and I’m so curious to know who I’m becoming.”

Brazilian Wicked is now one of my favorite versions cause SUITPHABA?!? BADDY GLINDA?!?!?
I’m sorry she does WHAT?!?
i dont have better pics unfortunately but this is what elphie wears to the ozdust vs what she ends popular with bc glinda takes her dress apart straight from her body. it’s incredibly gay
Babel, by RF Kuang, is fun cause the first half is sad but also really sweet and hopeful and relatively low stakes and you’re like “aw this is nice, found family, thanks” and then suddenly it’s the most intense most emotionally heart wrenching book you’ve ever read in your life so that’s cool I guess.
Yuriana Grande 100% knows about all of yall's spicy art and fanfics. I can't... 😭
