Dear Benjamin: Another manhua with an A/B/O premise that is so much more than the trope: alpha meets omega in the middle of a big spy mission, he gives birth to their kid, and despite the kid and the alpha being the spitting image of each other the dumbass doesn’t realise it at all. There’s a big mysterious CIA/spy subplot that I’m not enjoying nearly as much as the contract dating AU. [Chapter 24]

Fate Makes No Mistakes: There’s a big mystery about the respective male leads’ backstories. I’m not really following the plot and I’m sure my inability to tell half the characters apart from each other isn’t helping. [Chapter 54]

Fools Remastered: Eungi is a cold senior, Jungwoo is a popular skateboarding baby gay. [Chapter 13]

Cherry Blossoms After Winter: The main couple aren’t related but they grew up in the same household because one of them was adopted into the other’s home. I dropped this after Chapter 70 or 80? The getting together was really sweet, everything else after was pretty blah.

Love or Hate: Speaking of people who aren’t related but grew up together, these guys also hooked up as stepbrothers. One of them becomes an actor and the other becomes a writer. They have a 10 year long ‘casual’ relationship that is actually a serious one, except they don’t realise it. Or, like, they know but they pretend not to. One day the writer dude starts dating a photographer, and things become serious and he decides to break up with the actor, except of course there’s nothing to break up since they were never together. The actor guy doesn’t take it well. [Chapter 94]

Raising a Child Together and Falling In Love: The softest, fluffiest established relationship gay parenting manhua.

How To Chase An Alpha: The translating team seams to be pretty slow. I stopped at Chapter 20. A cute ABO story.

Ore no Aoharu wa Watasanai: Translations only up to Chapter 4 but it is so good so far! The main lead wants to be a main character in a shoujo manga but comes to the dawning realisation that he is the main character in a BL manga. LOL.

Red Candy: This claims to feature an “SS rank” agent but I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY EVIDENCE OF THIS, he is a DUMBASS of the highest order. I keep seeing qt screenshots of this on twitter though, so I’ll persevere for a while.

Hello, college grad that actually wrote an award winning paper on this topic! Here’s some knowledge I’d like to share: There’s actually been studies as to why it’s usually white kids, a large conclusion amongst the criminology community is that those that often have more privileged lives (white kids in our society’s case) are less adept to dealing with stress and denial. Whereas minorities and others are more likely to cope and function normally despite stressors because of the constant stressors that come from systematic racism and/or other platforms of more limited priviledge.

TL;DR: It’s usually a white kid because their privilege incacipated their ability to learn how to handle stress/ denial/ whatever without acting out. The less privileged are done used to the bs and thus typically dont turn to extreme measures as coping mechanisms.

I saw some old stuff today about drama around the thai fanmeet/concert, but it's most untranslated and I speak ~15 words of mandarin and wasn't in the fandom when it happened. Any thoughts to share?

Hi, anon! I’m not sure about what drama you’re asking about. I have only watched their Tianjin fanmeeting, because I can’t find official recordings for the rest and the screams of the fans makes it impossible to hear anything (and it’s quite unpleasant to be honest). 

The only “real” drama I can think of is from a short, unaired segment of a interview that day, that was on internet only for a few moments, but some fans kept it (here, from 05:52 to 06:05). 

For those who don’t understand Chinese, gg is being asked about something he said in a solo interview a while ago: his mother is asking him about when he’s going to marry, and he answered “if I enter in a relationship now, I’ll lose my job” (meaning that a lot of solo fans stay for single idols because of the dream of being their gf). It was mostly a joke to fend off his mother, who is asking about a gf.

So the it goes like this:

Interviewer: so zhan-ge has mentioned the fear of being “blacked” by fans (gg nods), then being in a relationship means losing your job?

(Gg had forgotten that he said that at all, and it shows. Here gg and dd are both shocked to the core, that little gasp from gg and the little jolt from dd are very very telling. And then... they look at each other. And those laughs, omg, gg, you are an actor!). 

DD: so what do you want to ask about? (if you turn the volume up, you’ll notice that dd goes defensive, he’s angry here) 

Interviewer: bjyx, you... 

I talked about this in a recent reblog. But unless they were in a relationship with each other, there’s no real reason to act so panicked here. The thing is that losing their careers is only a real threat here if they are together. 

How they turn to each other is also very telling. They turn their heads at almost the same time, dd looking at what gg will say and gg turning to dd completely panicking. I have nothing to add to the laughs, just judge by yourselves. 

When I found this video, I was almost convinced that there was something more in their relationship, but this was the last straw for me.

Y'all people really don’t get it: the point is to not consider being racist an insult. It’s factual that there are race biases ingrained into people’s minds and the first step to eradicate them is to accept it. Saying she’s being racist further proves that you didn’t understand a damn thing. Every white American is “racist”, as in they have been raised with racist concepts; black people have been raised with the same concepts, except they either refuse them or internalize it. As Bob said, white people don’t have an history of being killed and hanged and enslaved for being black. And they will NEVER understand that. While black people still have, to this day, to fear some parts of the USA for the forementioned motives.
