Do you know this song that suddenly popped into my little ol' brain?

This blog is dedicated to all the little random songs that pop into my head at the most random times. Rules of the polls are:

Songs can not be things I've actually listened to recently (within the last month).

Songs can not be from memes or videos I've seen recently (within the last week).

Songs must be stuck in my head for at least 2 hours before posting the poll.

Songs can not be chosen just for the sake of posting a poll (only honesty on this blog).

Songs must be similar to or related to the thought process or action of what I am currently doing.

i.e. the first song posted on this blog is Peaches by The Presidents of the United States of America. This earworm came up yesterday when I saw a video of someone making "carnivore bread" out of cottage cheese and I thought "ok that's different. I like cottage cheese with peach slices. Oh do we have peaches in the pantry? Ah yes we have peaches... they are in a can... they were put there by a man..." and now the song is stuck in my head.

There currently is no schedule for polls. I will update as new earworms happen, which may be very frequent, or not at all. As of now I am not taking requests as that would be an external influence but if you send me asks about random stuff, maybe they will lead to new earworms, who knows?

How I Got The Earworm:

Watched a thriller movie last night (it will remain unnamed because I don't what to advertise it. It was boring and completely predictable. My partner and I figured out the twist in the first 2 minutes.) Any way, so there was this girl who was obsessed with a song about "a girl who dreams" (keeping it vague because I searched the title and the movie came up in the top results) and it made me think of Dreamlover by Mariah. Then it turned into Heartbreaker in my head so here we are.

How I Got The Earworm:

Started watching the first season of Ted recently and last night in episode 5, the boys got into the tangent about how the song Monster Mash isn't even the actual song the people in the song are mashing to. The real song they're mashing to does not exist; no one has ever heard it. We only know the song about people dancing to the original song.

My first reaction to this was "Oh, so it's like Tribute by Tenacious D." Like literally, the peculiar thing is that song didn't sound anything like this song. This is just a tribute.

How I Got The Earworm:

I use this little self care app called Finch to help me get through my day. I often forget to do most daily tasks and it's been great with helping me keep my shit together. One of my reminders is to take out the recycling and I set the name of it to "I'm an Earth Warrior." And tomorrow's recycling day.

How I Got The Earworm:

Was thinking about making pizza or bread sometime this week and looked through our pantry. I often put a green powder into the dough (wheatgrass, moringa, barley or matcha) just to boost it up a bit since we don't normally eat pizza with sides. I try to add as many greens into our diet as possible mostly because it's hard to have a plate full of veg every day. But a cute green frog shaped pizza ticks all the boxes 💚🐸💚 Being green is hot. Being green is cool. Being green is sexy as fuck. I don't know what Kermit was talking about.

How I Got The Earworm:

For years now, I've had this tune stuck in my head and it popped up again while I was cleaning earlier. I knew it was Japanese so I asked my partner if he recognized it from an anime. It took a minute because of my terrible off-key scatting but they finally said, "Oh that's YUI. Look up the Brotherhood opening." BINGO!!

The parts were the middle of the pre-chorus:

"Shiori no to ni tsuzutta you ni motto sunao no hakidashitai yo."

And the end of the chorus:

"Natsukashiku naru konna itanim mo kangei jan."

All this time I thought it was from K-On! But whenever I went through their catalog I couldn't find it. The Yuis confused me

I was watching my partner scroll through social media and there was a post about a historical anniversary in our city and I had trouble reading it because I refuse to wear my glasses at home, so I asked them to read it to me. There was a word I forgot the meaning of and I asked what it meant and my partner rolled their eyes at me and said, "maybe you should learn Spanish."

"WELL EXCUUUUUSE ME. It's not my first nor second language. Sooooorry if I don't know it."

Then they roll their eyes harder and say, "20% of your second language is in Spanish."

How I Got The Earworm:

My brother and I do this thing where when someone says "oh" for any reason whatsoever. Like "oh I didn't know that" or "oh I forgot" or "oh I see". Whatever the Oh is for, we respond with "you touch my tralala." Then we'll both say in unison "my ding ding dong" drop down into a squat and just start gyrating. Both of our partners are unimpressed and think we're weird.

How I Got The Earworm:

I'm in a walking community here on Tumblr and I recently posted photos from a walk with one of my dogs that was cut short because there was a neighborhood dog off leash following us. I made a (factual) joke that she has had a boyfriend in every neighborhood we've lived in. This is the 4th house since we got her. Someone (you know who you are) commented "She's a Maneater~🎶"

How I Got The Earworm:

Technically... The song it not the earworm. It's actually the end of the video where they all say, "It's the fucking Catalina Win Mixer!" I use this as an exclamation for various things; good or bad. Today I was snuggling up with my chonkiest of doggos, Frank the Tank, and when I got up off the floor there was hair everywhere (poor old man sheds like a mother). Then when I was sweeping, jackass Bay (from the Golden poll) came to eat the hair (BITCH MOVE). Finally got her out of the way and wouldn't you fucking know it, a breeze came through and just blew it around the room.

I tend to say "It's the fucking Catalina Wine Mixer!" pretty often. Well, I quote the whole movie pretty often tbh. My go to is when I tell people (and dogs) not to touch my stuff; especially food (iykyk)

How I Got The Earworm:

Last weekend, I made a giant Tupperware of ... bean slaw? I don't think it has a name but it's a mishmash of tuna, peas, corn, black beans, garbanzos, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumber, carrots, cabbage and pickles all diced up into small pieces with dressing (I forgot to put onions). It's basically all fruit so I told the fam I made "fruit" salad! And when my partner came to eat some they were like "... That's not fruit." Oh yes it is. "Well they're not sweet fruits." Dude I literally used sweet corn, it's sweet enough. They weren't impressed by my trickery but nonetheless put it in their tum tum and said it was yum yum 🎶

Chili is also a fruit and yes it should be in fruit salad. Especial when there's mangoes. Oh and eggplant. Mango eggplant tomato onion salad with chillies is 😚🤌 yes please

How I Got The Earworm:

I came across a question the other day that went, "what's your favorite protest song?" There're a lot of popular songs that people (at least the people I know) don't realize are political. Zombie by the Cranberries, Fortunate Son by CCR, Paper Planes by MIA, Give Me Hope Jo'Anna by Eddy Grant which appeared in the polls recently. War Pigs by Black Sabbath, quite a few songs by System of a Down including BYOB, the entirety of Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake album, and pretty much everything by Rage, Public Enemy and NWA. Even Beyoncé had a few bangers. Now a lot of these are pretty obvious but so many people around me just think they're fun songs and never pay attention to the words.

What's Up by 4 Non Blondes isn't outright a protest song but it sure feels like one and it becomes more prevalent as the years go by. I know a lot of people who have this as their go-to karaoke song but again; it's just a fun catchy song. After getting on that train of thought I remembered the rest of the album (I abused cherished that CD so much growing up the booklet fell apart) and my brain has been singing Dear Mr President more than the others, although Superfly is my favorite on the album (it's the bass. It's so fucking good 😚🤌). When I was a moody teen I would play Drifting on loop until my walkman batteries died. I only had the cheap brand so they died pretty quickly (<- but that's irrelevant)

My partner and I have been listening to a lot of Paleface Swiss lately and we've been comparing their sound to older bands from back in our day and I said "yeah they remind me of Dimmu Borgir." It's been on my mind and unfortunately my brain kept mixing in songs by Throwdown and Valley of Chrome. How I Got The Earworm:

My personal hygiene habit is that I brush my teeth after meals. After 11am breakfast, after 4pm lunch + pre-work coffee, then before bed at 3am. It's the weekend so we had an last breakfast/early lunch and I ate a spicy cucharas tamarindo (tamarind candy on a spoon) as a palate cleanser lol. I sing this almost every time I brush my teeth 😆
