Is there a connection between your tumblr url and icon?
yes, they're a direct depiction / description of each other
they're thematically very similar*
they're thematically related*
yes, but not a connection anyone else would likely get
no, only inasmuch as they're both things I chose
it's complicated
[*] "Thematically very similar" would be like, your url is a quote about a character and your icon is an image of that character; "thematically related" would be like where the url references a character and the icon depicts a different character from the same fandom, for example.
.
Hi! I'm so sorry for asking but are you thinking about continuing Having Lived and Loved? It's my favorite fanfic so I was just wondering. I miss Comet and All Might
-
Happy New Year Anon! Please don't apologize; I miss them too, and I hope my long silence on this ask didn't make you think otherwise or that I wasn't happy to see someone reach out about the series.
While I'm not saying I've made any "New Year Resolution," and while I won't promise any comeback in full, I will say the following: I'm starting to get into the swing of my new job and managing their expectations vs my energy, they'll be letting me go hybrid soon, I've resolved to start taking my ADHD medication more regularly even if I'm "not sure I'll do anything with it" for the day (I'm on an "as needed" basis), and, at the basic core of everything, I miss being creative and creating things.
So, the short answer to "Will you continue Having Lived and Loved" is, I really, really want to. I have always wanted to, and that has never gone away. It may take a moment while I retrain my creative muscle a little in private, but I have every intent to continue seeing that story through.
(It also helps that MHA has officially ended; part of my difficulty may or may not have been due to the looming anxiety of "am I going to have to really diverge from the canon in the end?")

YOUR ART ON TUMBLR IS BEING USED TO TRAIN AI!
The setting that prevents your work being used to train AI models is turned off by default! I had no idea about this until now! Artists, go to your settings, click “visibility”, and turn on this setting! Protect your work!
《Made a visual guide of how to get there, because it's under a weird tab.
Go to your blog (you have to do this for each individual blog) and the visibility tab
It's this last option here
Hate this shit, but turn it off babey》
Not 100% sure why I decided to do this, but hell, it was funny. I'm sorry about how things get wordy towards the end of this part-- it doesn't get any less wordy going forward. I am the yapper.
All characters were chosen randomly from the random button on a wiki. Which wiki? Couldn't tell ya.
[Part 1] [Part 2 SOON] [Part 3 SOON]
While this is fresh on my mind after helping a friend troubleshoot discord not opening:
If you've just gotten a new computer fresh out of the box, before you install ANYTHING extra, get intimate with it. Explore it. Know it. This way, you can learn where and what everything is, without looking at something and wondering, "Should that be there? Is it a virus?" and messing with things you shouldn't.
I myself am on Windows (10 still, thank fuck), so I know I can tell you that that glorious sidebar to the left when you open your file explorer, is your best friend. You can scroll down through downloads, documents, video, photo, whatever. Those are fine and good (though probably empty, seeing as I recommended doing this on a clean install). But the glory lies in your beautiful "This PC" drop-down, and specifically, in your C drive. That silly little "(C:)".
Everything is here. EVERYTHING. Even the stuff you shouldn't fuck with. Look at it all anyway. First and foremost though, turn on file extension names (it's in a setting somewhere in the top of the file explorer window). This will help you learn what everything is and how it works, and protect you in the future from some shittily hidden viruses (example: PDF files do not end with .exe).
When you have file extensions turned on, look at, but don't touch, any files you're not certain about-- if you're going into folders, that's fine. Find the fabled System 32. Look at all the gibberish in your temp folders. Explore as much as you can handle.
(As a bonus, if you don't find your way here through clicking, you can type "%appdata%" into your task bar search for more fun).
Had enough? Cool. Download something. Just one thing. Don't spam click through instructions. I don't expect you to read the terms and conditions top to bottom, but pay attention to the directories where your important files for this program will be installed. You should hopefully be somewhat familiar with some of these names at this point from your previous exploration. The install directory will probably default to "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" or something like that (I don't have a PC in front of me rn). Install the program, then check out that place. Look into the new program's folder. Again, look at but don't touch anything you're unsure about.
Then, surprise yourself. Type in "%appdata%" and hit enter. It'll probably default you to "Roaming," but you can back out by clicking the previous folder in the top of the file explorer search bar. "Local," "LocalLow," and "Roaming" are your three Appdata subfolders.
Look in all of them. I bet you'll find a folder for that program you just installed, with more files, even though the installation might not have said anything about storing things in Appdata. In the case of Discord, this is where your settings and log in info would be saved-- but there's a lot more to it than that. This is just a big simplification for introductory purposes.
You don't have to be a programmer or IT individual to know your computer. I learned most of my computer through game mods, but if I can get anyone else to safely learn their computer's digital insides by making this post, then that's just a little more power you as a person have over your own technology-- something capitalism sorely doesn't want you to have anymore.
Anybody that follows dropout socials without being subscribed to dropout are about to be in for an incredibly confusing night
A thought I just had and part of me wonders why I haven't seen more of this, but another part of me knows at least two reasons why I haven't seen more of this:
Have an animatic/scene idea? Can't draw? Can draw but don't have the discipline for a full animatic? Can't write fanfic? Can write fanfic but don't want to put in that much time/effort?
Might I suggest the humble ✨ screenplay ✨
Sure, you still have to write a bit, but the point of a screenplay isn't to be the entire description of a thing, like one might find in a novel or fanfic. It's a foundation for a bigger picture, made for anyone to interpret the finer details of to their own ends. It takes less time to do than an animatic, and though it requires a different train of thought from writing in traditional formats, it creates a more specific and personal visual direction for the reader (or theoretical director).
Have trouble depicting character emotions? Tonal indicators aren't fleshed out, usually mostly indicated by a single word next to the name of the character speaking, for example:
MARK (Irritated) Really? Right in front of my salad?
(Sorry for mobile users if the formatting is dogass, feel free to google screenplay examples)
Don't like describing environments in-depth? Not to worry, the humble screenplay simplifies it all:
INT(ERIOR). DASHCON - NIGHT (this is a Slug Line) End of the first day of the first ever Tumblr Convention. A few STRAGGLERS (names of characters/groups of characters are capitalized) remain lingering around the con floor. JACK, DEAN, and PEARL surround the ballpit. They have their hands on their hips as they look into its depths.
No need to talk about anything not important to the immediate moment, like lighting, weather, how they got there, etc. Just mention anything that will be important to the scene right out of the gate, and then you can reference back to them in short sentences later:
PEARL grabs a ball from the ballpit and chucks it at JACK'S head. STRAGGLERS turn to look at the commotion.
Have a hard time switching between scenes? CUT AWAY and FADE IN/FADE OUT at the start and end of a scene is common practice.
Picturing camera movements that would normally not fit in descriptions in a fanfic? More slug lines, baby. PAN CAMERA and ROTATE CAMERA and CLOSE UP and ZOOM OUT.
(Not that the above practice is frowned upon in professional screenwriting spaces, but fuck them, you're doing this for fun, you're your own director for this theoretical movie/play/etc)
The point is, you don't have to be Shakespeare or Brandon Sanderson or Da Vinci or Andy Warhol to make the thing you want to make. As long as you've got a strong image for the thing in your head, writing a fic or drawing an animatic are not your only two options. Break down the puzzle pieces, then shove them in fragments into a written document, and boom.
✨ Screenplay. ✨
Possibly controversial statement for the times: the two ideas of "everything is horrible and we're all doomed" and "everything is beautiful and we'll make it" can and do coexist.
One of the coolest parts about being a fan of fanfic is you can actually contact the author. And they will respond. And then you can message them nonstop until they allow you into their lives and then you’re becoming their beta reader and suddenly you know multiple authors of all types of fiction books and fanfic authors who will drag out their deleted fics for you to read at a moments notice.
Anyway. Comment on fics and message authors. It’s absolutely worth it.
Okay I found out something horrific today so I gotta ask the public, please reblog for more votes.
