being roommates with pro hero! katsuki bakugo and his friends
âguys come on! toilet seat, i almost fell in there.â you exit the bathroom as your three guy roommates were lounging on the couch, watching news outlets for crime reports.
denki peers up from his phone as he was in a fetal position. ây/n, itâs literally impossible for me to remember that when i wake up at like three in the morning to piss.â
âitâs not that hard! youâre already facing the damn seat, just drop it!â you nag, throwing a nearby sofa pillow at him.
living with three guys who happened to be close friends and pro heroes at that, was most certainly not on your life plan.
but when youâre a broke college student whom so happened to see the vague ad on social about a nice loft apartment with three roommates for a good price, it sounded too good to be true. and it was.
not that the boys werenât respectful about you being a girl and making sure you were comfortable, or thoughtful like always bringing heavy groceries home after a long patrol so you wouldnât have to carry things late at night.
itâs just, bakugo, kirishima, and kaminari had a very loud and chaotic friendship. theyâve known each other since high school and literally survived a war together, and yet still ended up wresting in the living room because they couldnât decide what to grab for dinner.
kaminari was a very chill and happy go lucky guy that always kept you laughing. you bonded over music and cheesy romcoms that the other boys pretended they hated, but still watched behind the couch during movie night. he always came to you when it involved girl drama with his on-again, off-again girlfriend, jirou.
kirishima was a total sweetheart. always picking up around the house just to keep your hectic mind at ease. he liked taking you out on friend dates when you were feeling down about a failed relationship, which theyâve seen all of them. and he was really a very close friend at this point.
they kept your life chaotic and fun for sure.
now bakugo, your relationship was very, hard to describe. you got along pretty well, living together and all, but you just couldnât put your finger on what you two had. it could be described as a friendship sure, like he was always there to help you cram for an exam as he was smart as shit. he picked you up from your campus with no hesitation when you had late night classes so you wouldnât have to walk home, and cooked your favorite things for dinner while you were busy doing homework or playing with the guys.
but then there were moments when it was just the two of you, and it feltâŠ. strange. you got nervous all of a sudden, and when you walked past each other around the place and your hands brushed, butterflies swarmed your stomach. you summed it down to it just being plain old attraction, because he was the most hottest guy youâve ever seen. but thatâs all it could be.
you were roommates and could be nothing more. if it becomes something more, thatâs when awkwardness sets in and someone has to move out. and since you were basically the odd one out, it would be you and you could not afford that right now.
âshit! itâs eight, we gotta go!â kiri curses after he noticed the time on his phone. the three men were off on an early morning patrol this time instead of their usual night shifts which meant they would be gone all day.
kaminari looks at you while you were preparing your breakfast in the kitchen. âwe should be back later tonight.â he addresses you as you nod in understanding. âbut call us if you need anything.â
the perk of having pro heroes as roommates was that you always had a sense of security in your home. when they could just electrocute, pummel, and explode someone just by touching you or looking at you weird, you definitely felt safe.
you wave their worries but kept it to heart. âyes, yes i know the drill.â
bakugo finally addressed you as he finished putting on his hero uniform. âyou just got class today?â
âyeah, afternoon lecture.â you shrug then you remembered something. âoh! iâm also having company over tonight. just letting yâall know for no surprises.â
kiri raised an eyebrow, âcompany? as in that kind of company?â
at the insinuation of more than friendly relations, bakugo tenses up and looks at you with an unreadable expression. kaminari notices and smirks.
âoooh, is this a sock on the door type situation?â denki asks with a humorous grin.
as your roommates, they took the responsibility of knowing every single one of your friends just so they could keep an eye on who you were hanging out with and if they were bad news. but when it came to dating, they tended to be a little more protective over who you brought to the house.
you shake your head as you begin plating your eggs and toast. âew no. itâs just a guy from my class. weâre gonna work on our final project.â
bakugo narrows his eyes but maintains his composure. âhe a creep or what?â
you smile softly at katsukiâs line of questioning but nonchalantly begin to eat your breakfast on your kitchen island. âno kats, heâs normal. weâll only be like two hours, tops. now go save the world and all that stuff, donât worry about lil âol me!â
denki and kirishima seem convinced enough to where they each gave you a side hug goodbye before walking out the door, waiting for bakugo outside.
when you notice bakugoâs hesitation to leave, you get up from the stool you were sitting on and walk over toward him, something hidden behind your back.
âiâll be okay, kats. iâm a big girl, i can handle myself.â you reassure your roommate who still wasnât convinced. you finally show him what you were hiding which was a small bag with lunch that you specially made early in the morning and attached was a small little message you wrote. âhere, itâs your favorite.â
his eyes widen at the gesture but doesnât react like a normal person would. but you knew he appreciated it, in his own little bakugo way.
âcall if anything, yeah?â he grunts but his eyes remained on yours, stoic and serious.
you drop the playful act and nod in understanding to ease him. âyes, yes. iâll call my big, scary, guard dogs if i need help, now go!â you push his chest and he only gives you a nod before following after his friends.
âiâm serious, y/n, i donât care what it is.â katsuki gives a final warning as you roll your eyes.
âsomeone could be getting robbed right now, great explosion murder god dynamight!â you used his entire hero name and close the front door after him, and you lock it shut immediately. the boys never leave the front unless they hear the lock and youâre safe.
the day came and went and was exactly like you had planned. your afternoon lecture went smoothly and your professor let you out a half hour early which was great because you were planning on cooking dinner for the boys for when they got home from patrol. now it just gave you more time to do that.
on your way home you stopped by the grocery store near your apartment to grab things for dinner. you were excited, you loved cooking for the boys and they most certainly appreciated it after a grueling work mission they usually had. as you gathered the final things, your phone vibrated in your pocket.
it was bakugo which made you smile.
grenade launcher <3 : you make it to class okay?
you : yesss ofc :) my prof let us out early so iâm out buying groceries
grenade launcher <3 : thanks for the lunch. it was decent
you : oh? just decent? i poured my blood sweat and tears into that meal! iâm cooking only for denki and kiri now
grenade launcher <3 : oh really?
you : oop gotta go! iâm next in line at the register
grenade launcher <3 : get home safe yeah? donât be a dumbass and just walk into traffic
you : awww look at you caring about me ;)
grenade launcher <3 : we need you alive for the rent
you : you love me shut up! anyway have a good patrollll <3 donât kill anyone with explosions!
the walk back home was nice and you got a great head start on dinner which made you even happier. before you even knew it, it was five oâ clock and your classmate should be here any minute.
with that thought, a knock was heard on your front door. you quickly put the fire down on the stove and wash your hands in the sink before walking over to look in the keyhole. you see your classmate awkwardly waiting and let him in.
âsorry for the heat, just cooking dinner.â you sheepishly say, locking the door behind him and walking him over toward the living room.
he shakes his head and chuckles, âno worries. thanks for offering to use your place for the project.â
âof course!â you smile and offer him a seat on the couch. âi figured we could use the space.â
your classmate places the project materials on the glass coffee table in front of the sofa before looking around. âwow, itâs just you here? really nice place!â
you nod in agreement about your apartment before correcting him. âoh no, i have three roommates.â grabbing a framed picture that was sitting on the table beside the couch, you showed it to him.
the picture was a nice memory as it was you and the boys at a theme park. denki took the selfie as kirishima stood beside him, you and bakugo were on the other side, him looking unamused and you smiling brightly, your arm around his.
âthree guys? woah, they must like that huh?â your classmate jokes.
you place a hair behind your ear as you laugh. âitâs not like that, theyâre my best friends. theyâre actually pro heroes. so theyâre all on patrol right now.â
âno way.â your classmate looks closer before widening his eyes in amazement. âwait! i totally know these guys! theyâre from that famous class from u.a high school! man, iâm a big fan.â
âyeah theyâre pretty cool, if anything iâm the lucky one.â you smile before placing the frame back where it belonged. âso! should we get started?â
you both worked on the project together as you were on your laptop and he was writing things down. you occasionally got up every now and then to check on dinner. and every time you did, unbeknownst to you, your classmate kept scooting over to where he would be closer to you. finally, it seemed as if the project was wrapping up as you both finished your sections.
âand that looks like the end!â you clap happily as you put the finishing touches on your presentation portion.
your classmate agrees. sitting closer to you on the sofa.
âperfect. iâm glad i got you as a partner. you made it fun!â he smiled at you, quietly moving even closer toward you.
you didnât notice as you shut your laptop down and closed it. âme too. that was so easy. and it looks like weâre done.â
not that you wanted to be rude, but you were kinda tired and the last thing you wanted was to think about schoolwork anymore. besides, the boys would be home soon and you really wanted dinner to be ready for them.
âyeah.â your classmate hesitated and you tried to motion toward his things so he could take a hint.
you cough before rubbing your hands on your legs, âwell it was really nice working with you, iâll see you on monday for the presentation.â when he still wouldnât move, you continue, âiâm so sorry but i kinda gotta work on dinner before my roommates come home.â
your classmate shrugs, âi just thought we could hang out a little more, seems like i can only see you in class.â
you raise an eyebrow and finally notice how close the guy was to you now. âyeah, thatâs how college works. but you can head out now.â your tone a little more level than before.
he just chuckles before grabbing your hand, âisnât that why you invited me over? your roommates are gone, you didnât just want to do the project.â
you snatch your hand away and glare at him. âdonât touch me, i actually did, now iâm asking you to leave my apartment please.â
âcome on, i think youâre hot, i know you think im hot, so why donât we take advantage of your empty space?â he attempts to hover over you and kiss you and you slap him across the face.
you try to push him off of you but he held his grip over the sofa. you kicked, screamed and scratched until you finally felt his weight off of your chest after what seemed like hours. you allowed yourself to open your eyes.
your classmate was on the floor and you see blurry figures from your tears was standing over him. you wipe your eyes to get a better look and you finally saw bakugo, kiri, and denki over your classmate. kaminari pinned the guyâs arms behind his back, pushing until he screamed out as kirishima kept his knee on his legs to stop him from kicking. on the floor next to them were takeout bags from your favorite restaurant.
they had come early and were planning on surprising you with dinner. if it had been just a normal night, you wouldâve cried by how thoughtful they were. but instead it was tainted.
katsuki breathes heavily before grabbing the guy by the collar of his shirt and pulling him up, his feet lifting off the ground.
âyou try to touch her like that in my fuckinâ house?â katsuki yells at your classmate who was practically shitting his pants.
as your classmate refuses to answer, kaminari tightens his hold and if you didnât stop him, he wouldâve electrocuted him.
âhow dare you put your hands on her.â denki lowered his voice to a tone youâve never heard from him before.
âdenki, kats, stop, just let him go. heâs not worth it.â you insist, the last thing you needed were your roommates to get involved in a public beating. not good for their image.
âtaking advantage of a young woman like that is not fucking manly, you asshole.â kirishima yells as he kicks the guy in his legs, earning a cry from your classmate.
katsuki leans in towards him and his voice was filled with utter hatred. âif i see you anywhere near her, you piece of shit, iâm hittinâ you so damn hard your dick is gonna be in your throat, got it?â
he doesnât even wait for the guy to answer, just throws him harshly on the ground. the guy scrambles in tears and runs out of your apartment, the door already open from when the boys came in.
in an instant, katsuki rushed over to you, your body still frozen on the couch. he tried to examine you for injuries, hands moving your head âi shouldâve broken his fuckinâ jaw, i swear.â
âiâm okay, he didnât touch me.â you assure him, placing your hand over his.
kaminari and kirishima observed you both before excusing themselves. âweâll go make sure that loser actually leaves.â
kiri takes one last look before leaving, âyou sure youâre okay, y/n?â but he knew you were in good hands with katsuki. plus it seemed like you needed your alone time.
you nod and give him a small smile. âiâm good, kats is here with me. thank you guys.â
once they both left, katsuki looks back over at you, his hand never leaving the side of your face.
âi shouldâve been here, none of this wouldâve happened. that lowlife wouldâve been five feet away from you at all times.â katsuki mutters but you smile at his presence.
âkats, you couldnât have predicted this. hell, even i thought he was harmless.â you shrug.
your roommate gets up from the floor and sits down next to you, your bodies resting by each other. you laid down in a comfortable position on his chest as his hands played with your hair, offering more comfort.
âyou guys were home early.â you finally say after a few minutes of silence to compose yourself. but you were safe now. you push yourself off of bakugoâs chest to look at him.
katsuki doesnât let you completely off of him though, worried that if he let you go, something bad might happen again. âyeah, i told kiri and denki that i wanted to check up on you since you were alone with this guy, so we got off early and wanted to grab you dinner.â
and you thanked everything, every star that made them come home early.
âwell your intuition was right.â you chuckle with no humor. your head quickly snaps toward the kitchen. âshit! dinner!â
katsuki keeps you from going, pulling you down. âyou had some lowlife try to touch you and youâre worried about dinner?â
âwell yeah, what will you and the boys eat? itâs on the floor and ruined.â you genuinely ask with a sad pout and bakugo could swear he saw stars on how badly he wanted to kiss you. his sweet roommate that he wanted but figured he could never have.
in the first time in a while, katsuki chuckled. genuinely chuckled. âyouâre somethinâ else, i swear. donât worry about dinner, we can order more takeout.â
you smile at the sound of his chuckle. something in you, in the deepest part of you, filled your head up with courage and you took bakugoâs hand in yours, intertwining your fingers.
and to your relief, he doesnât pull away, just squeezes your hand.
âthank you, for being here.â you mutter.
katsuki only nods and rubs the back of your hand with his thumb. âyou know iâm takinâ you to school for now on right?hell, iâll even get dunce face and shitty hair to go too.â
you giggle at the image. âwow, just what i need, my own secret service.â
âyeah well, youâre worth it.â
it slipped so effortlessly out of bakugoâs mouth that he didnât even have a moment to think before he spoke. your cheeks flush and katsuki tried to avoid your eyes in embarrassment.
âi mean,â you shrug and move his face to meet your glance again, âi have to agree, i am precious cargo, come on.â
bakugo scoffs and rolls his eyes but lets a small smile rest on his face. he pushes you playfully, âway to ruin the moment, dumbass.â
you smile and before thinking you instinctively press your lips onto bakugoâs. at the moment, it felt right and you werenât thinking of repercussions that this might bring, or losing him as a roommate. youâve been wanting to do this since youâve moved in.
instead of pushing you away, katsuki brings you closer to where youâre on his lap, hands pressed on his chest, not breaking the kiss but deepening it. you both didnât want to pull away but you knew that denki and kiri would be back soon.
but of course, when you finally break apart from each other, your arms still entangled, you hear sounds of clapping and obnoxious fake crying that turned both of your heads toward the front door. denki and kirishima stood there, and just watched you two with shit eating grins.
âi told you theyâd realize it on their own.â denki shoves kirishima, motioning toward your and bakugoâs position and your intertwining hands.
âyeah yeah, iâll do the dishes for the week.â kiri pushes him more harshly. then he turns toward both of you, âyou know we gotta have a roommate meeting about this, right?â
