“Oi! Neutral ground means neutral ground. If you want to fight go outside.” Bonnie took pride that her diner was one of the places in Costello that all were welcome. She watched carefully whilst the two young people who were close to fighting sat down before giving a small huff and turning away. “Sorry ‘bout that. What were you saying?”
callie watched with respect as bonnie put people in their places and smiled as she spoke to her again. ‘small chocolate shake for jude and i’ll have a coke please.’ she adjusted the little boy in his seat and smiled down at him. ‘can you say please and thank you to bonnie now, jude?’ he mumbled a please and thank you and callie looked up with another smile. ‘and a portion of fries would be great too.’
“Sorry yeah I em. I’m actually a bit lost, probably obvious but I’m new to town. I was looking for the library?” Rose had been doing her best to slip under the radar following her move to Costello but she clearly had a lost look on her face as she stood in the middle of the main street.
callie subconsciously held onto her son a little tighter as a stranger spoke to her but she soon realised that she clearly had nothing to worry about. ‘library, yeah, sure,’ she pointed in the general direction of where the library was, ‘if you follow that street and look on the left you’ll find it, honestly it’s a maze getting round here sometimes. do you want me to walk there with you? i’m sure this little guy wouldn’t mind checking out some new books.’
patrick was stressed enough trying to handle the rossis, not to mention the fact that he also had the shop to run. it was no good as a front if it went belly up at least. hearing footsteps from the garage, he let out a sigh and got up from the chair in his office, soon making his way into the next room. “god. what’ve you broken this time?”
‘that’s your job to tell me i’m sure.’ callie laughed as she tossed her keys over to him and grimaced a little thinking about how much this was going to cost her. ‘there’s a constant sort of clunking noise on the left hand side when i’m driving and i really don’t want to be driving jude around in a death trap.’
WHAT: OPEN STARTER
WHERE: MASENS BAR
WHO: CALLIE & ANYONE
after a hard day at work and with her son at the babysitter’s house, callie knew that she needed a beer. she’d been on tinder lately and had arranged to meet a woman in the bar but as the time passed while she sat there she realised that she’d been well and truly stood up, she felt like an idiot for believing someone would even want to entertain the idea of being with her. she ordered herself another beer with tears in her eyes and sat back down trying her best to hold them back. as she sat there someone rowdy backed into her table and sent her beer flying all over the table and all over her. ‘fantastic.’ she mumbled as she stood to release the beer pooling in her lap.
callie was born to two moms so at school was always picked on for being the girl with two moms, constantly told she would be gay too so when she realised that she was in fact gay, she resented the idea and bottled it all up. she kept that part of her hidden for a long time and really worried about peoples reactions but then she grew to truly love herself and decided that she didn’t care what people thought; from that day forward at twenty two she was finally out as an openly gay woman.
academia was never a strong point of callie, she really struggled and that could’ve been due to the bullying or really just her complete lack of interest in anything but art. art was absolutely where her heat was and she thrived in her art class, she knew as well as her moms that art would play a huge part in her life whether it be as a career or hobby. at eighteen, callie became an apprentice at the local art studio where she has stayed to this day, now though, she is incredible at what she does she absolutely adores putting her ideas on peoples skin.
callie’s love life is absolutely non existent, she would love to be with someone but that hasn’t happened for her yet, she’s had relationship but right now she’s been single for probably around six years. when she turned thirty callie decided that she wanted to be a mother and after a few years of trying with the help of a donor, at thirty three callie’s world changed as she gave birth to her little guy jude. he has brought her an immeasurable amount of happiness over the last three years and she feels as if she is content and happy but she would still very much want to fall completely head over heels in love with someone.
