âSomething? Are you really a believe in instinct?â Rose said with a small smirk but despite her misgivings she followed after him, she had nothing else to be doing after all. âItâs complicated. I grew up in Baltimore but my parents were from England so it leads to this,â
âyou donât believe in gut feelings?â nikko chuckled as he padded in the direction of where he thought he might have seen the library. âengland and baltimore, huh? thatâs quite the combination. what brings you all the way out here then?â
âNot really, I suppose its let me down one to many times.â Rose shrugged as an answer. âMy brother lives here, he moved out a while ago and I always meant to follow him eventually.â
now-its-3amâ:
âitâs still not your problem though.â alex smiled, getting up from the desk. a small chuckle slipped from her at zoeâs teasing. while she was thankful she had her around, and wouldnât change it for the world, she also didnât want the other exhausting herself. âitâs not your lack of work ethic thatâs gonna get you fired, you know. itâs you thinking youâre being clever thatâs gonna get you in the end.â she teased back, making her way back over to the door. âiâve been to bonnieâs. so, you gonna come eat or what?â
âIt shouldnât be your problem alone,â Zoe said with a small shrug before moving to sign out of the computer. She enjoyed her work, far more than anything sheâd done whilst studying but she really could use a break. âOh Iâll never say no to Bonnieâs.â
now-its-3amâ:
âso was you guys. i shouldâve dealt with the consequences of my own actions. that wasnât on you. when you said youâd fix it â i didnât think you were gonna take the fall for it.â cody swallowed, looking up at his sister. if there was one thing he had been struggling with for the past ten years, it was this. everything he felt he had taken away from her. âiâm just â iâm sorry you had to do that. i love you, and iâm really happy youâre here.âÂ
âI know, I also knew that if I said what I was gonna do youâd never let me. I made my choice Cody donât go taking that away from me.â Rose said gently but firmly before smiling brightly as he admitted to being happy she was here. âGood. Remember that when I use all your money for clothes and books.â

âsince when do i behave?â lee laughed, leaning back into the park bench. she knew the last thing joanna wanted was to not be around her child right now, but she could also see how tired she was. letting out a sigh, lee looked over at her. âiâm just saying. weâre around. thatâs all.â she smiled, pressing a kiss to her best friendâs head. âyou guys ready for the christmas market yet? bonnieâs been running herself into the ground again over it.âÂ
âA girl can have dreams right? One day we might all be behaving at the same time.â Joanna chuckled leaning into Leeâs affection. âI know you are, and I love that so much but right now the two of us are managing alright. You could always stay over if you want? And sort of, Thomas has been doing the majority of the prep really.â

alfie laughed, nodding in agreement. âsheâs got training to put up with the likes of us! only a teacher could,â she joked. alfie was incredibly lucky to have lee and jo. thereâd been a point in life, when family, mishpacha, had seemed sparse. sheâd left everyone, everyone behind in new york. even though sheâd been ânot on speaking termsâ with her family ( which was vernacular for estranged ) after her pregnancy was revealed, and it hadnât been her decision. and sheâd thought she may never know the feeling of a full and happy family again. but jo and lee, finding them, that had dashed any doubt in her mind. the red head smiled softly. âokay, letâs lock something in,â she agreed. âsooner rather than later!â she added.
âTeaching and decades of being stuck with us.â Jo chuckled feeling more relieved than anything that she had been able to make Alfie laugh. Things had been so much harder for her friend with this pregnancy that at times sheâd felt a little guilty for how wonderful Thomas had been. âWell I have nothing on my social calendar right now do I?â
now-its-3amâ:
as alex picked up the glass in front of her, she couldnât help the small smile on her face at her best friendâs teasing. no matter how bad things had been â just being around bonnie would usually help. she let out a sigh. âso both, yeah.â grabbing the bottle from bonnie, she poured them a glass each, the contents of her own soon disappearing with one swift motion. âi know i can. doesnât mean you want to know everything. or should know everything.âÂ
âIf it is to do with you then of course I want to know,â Bonnie said gently, all traces of teasing now gone from her voice. She was under no illusion that a business like Alexâ would be able to keep the same neutrality that the diner was able to have and couldnât help but worry if that was what was bothering her. âIf youâd prefer not to talk about it though I will not make you.â

callie watched with respect as bonnie put people in their places and smiled as she spoke to her again. âsmall chocolate shake for jude and iâll have a coke please.â she adjusted the little boy in his seat and smiled down at him. âcan you say please and thank you to bonnie now, jude?â he mumbled a please and thank you and callie looked up with another smile. âand a portion of fries would be great too.â
Bonnieâs whole persona switched as soon as Callie began speaking and she even gave a smile as Jude mumbled his words before nodding. âYeah of course I can, Iâll even throw the fries in for free because of the disruption.â
now-its-3amâ:
âiâll keep that in mind.â nikko promised, a smile forming on his lips. âitâs a cool place. the kinda place i always thought dinerâs should look like, but had yet to see over here.â he chuckled, glancing up at the wall as he laid eyes on the menu there. âcinnamon rolls, huh? they any good? iâm just asking âcause iâve been burned before. seems like there are a lot of misconceptions about that particular baked good.âÂ
âOh please do,â Bonnie said with a smile before turning to look at the menu he was looking at. She was proud of what sheâd accomplished with the restaurant so to hear someone praise it always brought her joy. âWell my spouse says theyâre nydelige but Iâll let you be the judge.â
now-its-3amâ:
âwell, why didnât you just say so? save us all the trouble.â lee smirked, feeling her wifeâs hand on her waist. it was rare for them to show much affection in public, especially bonnie, and lee was about to enjoy every moment of it. it took everything not to touch her back as she let out a sigh. âcâmon. cough âem up. iâm starving.â
âOh but then I wouldnât have an excuse to do this,â Bonnie teased gently. She knew that her difficulties with public displays of affection were difficult for her spouse at times so she tried to be better at showing it. âCome on then, but donât eat them all at once.â
WHAT: OPEN STARTER WHERE: MASENS BAR WHO: CALLIE & ANYONE
after a hard day at work and with her son at the babysitterâs house, callie knew that she needed a beer. sheâd been on tinder lately and had arranged to meet a woman in the bar but as the time passed while she sat there she realised that sheâd been well and truly stood up, she felt like an idiot for believing someone would even want to entertain the idea of being with her. she ordered herself another beer with tears in her eyes and sat back down trying her best to hold them back. as she sat there someone rowdy backed into her table and sent her beer flying all over the table and all over her. âfantastic.â she mumbled as she stood to release the beer pooling in her lap.
âOh shit are you okay?â Whilst Zoe hadnât been a part of the rowdy group that had caused the spillage she had seen what happened and quickly put down her own drink and grabbed some napkins for her.
now-its-3amâ:
âiâve been to masenâs too many times this past week, itâs getting embarrassing. but my son has more plans than i do, and i donât know what to do with myself anymore. i didnât think heâd be acting like a teenager at five.â nikko let out a small chuckle, looking up at his friend. âah man, benji would love that. let me know when youâre off work and weâll figure something out?âÂ
âAh the busy social life of little children,â Zoe said with a bright laugh. Rajan was usually the exact same as shy as his mother was he didnât seem to have the same uncertainty. âYeah of course, Iâd love that.â

You don't really seem like an Andrea. Yeah, well, everyone calls me Quill.
now-its-3amâ:
âno. âcourse iâd to do that. sânot like iâm gonna drag you all the way out here and leave you to fend for yourself. thatâs not what we do, you know that.â cody smiled, tilting his head as he crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at his feet as he swallowed. âi hurt him though. that wasnât on you.â his jaw clenched for a moment. cody knew exactly what he had done, and the fact that his sister had paid for his bad decisions had been more than he could handle at times. âlook, you know iâll be forever grateful for what you did. i just â itâs gonna take me a while to forgive myself for letting you do that. youâve lost out on so much â all because of me. and that â thatâs gonna take some time to come to terms with. so yeah, iâm gonna do whatever i can to set you up for success, because i owe you that much. i took everything else away from you â so i owe you anything and everything i can give you.â
âYou didnât drag me anywhere Cody I wanted to come to see you.â Rose said gently, she couldnât imagine staying anywhere that didnât involve at least one of her siblings. She felt the familiar tug of her heartstrings when Cody spoke about the man meant to be their caregiver and shook her head trying to resist the temptation to hug him once more. âYou and the others were all I had Cody, I wasnât going to let anything put you away.â
