Dove-Shaped Perfume Bottles from the Roman Empire, c.50-100 CE: these glass vessels were filled with scented oils or cosmetic powder and then sealed, meaning that their contents could only be accessed by breaking the dove's neck or tail
"the only difference between a cult and a religion is the scale"
NO. NO IT ISN'T. THIS IS WHAT THE CULTS WANT YOU TO THINK IT IS NOT TRUE. THERE ARE RELIGIONS THAT ARE NOT CULTS AND CULTS THAT ARE NOT RELIGIOUS AND YOU MUST LEARN THE DIFFERENCE

In Vietnam, as in China, fish and butterflies are auspicious motifs symbolising happiness and longevity. They often decorate jewellery, belts and headbands worn by women and girls.

I recently saw the concept of a pocket altar, for those who maybe can't have a visible altar for whatever reason — how does this work, exactly? and what can I put inside? does a box work too or would that be disrespectful?
Hello, a pocket altar, altar in a box, or altar held in small box to make a temporarily small altar are all respectful.
Here are some tin altars
To Poseidon by @blluskyy
To Amphitrite by @sea-witchb1tch
To Bast by @snakejawz
Here are some of my mini altars
The candle is LED, the figure of Djehuty is only 3.5 inches tall. The owl is for Athena and was a little lip balm container.
Another example of one I kept that was portable in a box for 1st year of university
An example with no deity figures
Owl is Athena, LED candle is Hestia, the snake bracelet is Asklepios, the snake in the little cup is Hygeia, the flower earrings are Heras, the necklace pendant is The Sun. All of this can fit in a small box.
All of my examples can be put inside a box and set up outside a box within a minute or so, so it's not a full time visible altar. Its just for that small moment of time you are using it. To pray, meditate, present a cup of water as a libation, so on.
You can put inside whatever feels right for an altar: items or pictures that represent the Gods, LED or tea candles, stones, items gifted to the Gods such as coins, small cup for water or mini offerings. The possibilities are numerous and up to you.
If you need to be secret I can also suggest having a mundane object that people wouldn't question but you personally know is for a God(s). Like a knick knack, a sun catcher, a fancy pen, a piece of jewelry.
Or you can just have a candle (like a fragrance jar candle) out in the open, that acts as a sacred space. You can light and pray at it, or burn with the intention of the nice smell being an offering to the God(s).
Hope this answers your questions

Heavenly Peace River
~ The Oath of Amaterasu & Susanoo (Divination)
Susanoo cried out that he wanted to go to the Land of Dead, where his mother Izanami was, and caused immense damage to heaven and earth. His father, Izanagi, was so angry that he banished him.
Susanoo thought he would go to the Land of the Dead with the help of his sister Amaterasu and went up to the high heavens to meet her. Then all the mountains and rivers moved, and all the land shook violently. Amaterasu, thinking that Susanoo had come to take Takamagahara, greeted him with the appearance of a man and with armour.
To allay Amaterasu’s suspicions, Susanoo suggested that they take an oath. The two gods took the oath across the heavenly peace river.
It is a form of divination in which a person declares in advance whether or not Susanoo, who has visited the high heavens, has an evil heart, and if he does, this will happen; if he does not, this will happen.

hey!! your lack of understanding of science is not proof that science is unreliable, a conspiracy, nor evidence of a god existing. thanks.
