Athena is the Olympian Goddess of wisdom, good counsel, war(especially war strategy), weaving, pottery and the defence of towns. She was born of Zeus' head without a Mother, and is a Virgin Goddess, as she never married or had any children of her own. She is one of the most mythologically significant deities, as she is a large influence in the Illiad, Odyssey, along with being the main character in her Birth myth, the myth of Athena & Pallas, Athena & Typhoeus, the Contest of Athena & Poseidon for Athens, the Contest for Troezen and many more. When Athena was fully grown, she caused Zeus to have such a bad headache he asked Hephaistos to split his skull open, from which came Athena, fully armed and grown. 🧠Athena has been syncretized with many other Goddesses, including Neith of the Kemetic Pantheon, and Onga, a Phoenician Goddess. To me this is a great example of how widespread and varied her cultic worship is. 🧠 While Athena is usually shown in myths as being a "superior war god" to Ares, this is likely due to the Athenians having a biased view, and often considered Ares a foreign God, it is more accurate to say that Athena is more aligned with the strategy aspect of war, and Ares is more aligned with the bloody aspects of war.
