.., I misremembered this ask a bit so I was only thinking about it from dogwood perspective but erm

Before modern times , when witch hunts were still a thing, and werewolves were usually hunted by mages instead of tolerated in magical society, Werewolf parents would usually hide their pups in a bush while they go hunting on full moons, if they didn’t have a pack mate to baby sit.

The pups naturally have an instinct to lay flat to the ground so that other werewolves and mages won’t find them as easily

They also share wolf behaviour like rolling on their backs to show submission and also initiate playtime/cuddles !

Adding the bevel 3D effect . I saw this originally from a twitter artist who draws a lot of anthro fish and I can’t find them anymore

FORGOT TO SAY but once the inverted vivid light layer is merged down with the second desaturated layer, set the result layer to overlay mode. Then adjust the opacity of it as you like on top of the original unchanged layer

I think I mentioned once that during full moons it helps if a werewolf has something of their family member or friend, or a childhood stuffed animal, etc. for comfort. In the case that they’re not on wolvesbane or they are but they’re alone, an article of clothing from a loved one can help them sleep and feel less discomforted by the werewolf transformation

Thank you gravity and book for helping me decide the bg, it probably took me over an hour and cost me a decade off my lifespan

Ofc this makes Harry’s instincts very conflicted since Snape’s telling him to get off , stop being clingy, stop being close, but he’s holding Harry like Harry’s his kid … at least to Harry’s werewolf brain …

This piece was soooo fun to do bc I had the idea in my head of the format and pose and all right away so that saved time from having to tweak that out, AND I did a clothing render study a day ago with a new rendering method so that made me really confident for this piece .

The flowers growing out of Harry’s heart are cardamine/bittercress bc in this Victorian flower language book I found online , cardamine represents something paternal.

The worms on the large intestine down there are very literally “worry worms”. That’s the sort of squirmy stomachachy feeling anxiety can give

AU of Dogwood AU, its set after the war so say that Harry gets infected there, hr and Snape recover in the Hospital Wing together. Harry after watching the memories is utterly attached but he feels he's too grown to have these feelings, especially when literally every parental figure in his life has died

Okay so I’m illiterate because HOW did I miss the first words of your ask . Dogwood AU . AU of the Dogwood AU. Kill me now

Anyway that’s a really interesting idea; at the end of the war Harry’s 17 so legally an adult in the magical world and able to get his own place to live or return to Hogwarts when it’s all repaired, but as a newly turned werewolf, he’s still dependent on his hated Potions professor since Wolvesbane is really difficult to get, and Harry wouldn’t dare brew it himself . But he can’t hate Snape as much anymore after seeing all those memories …

And Snape, having almost died after giving Harry so many of his precious memories about Lily as well as the important horcrux plot related ones, feels obligated to help this boy, who’s so broken from the war and hardly an adult, even if he’s legally one.

He’s failed Lily’s son enough times before. He’s not going to do it again.

Highly recommend the work Whatever It Takes by @sanctuary-angel if you’re interested in a long post-war severitus fic. It’s angsty but also heartfelt and comforting, which I enjoyed a lot <3

Studio Ghibli style study because I rewatched The Boy and the Heron yesterday

I feel like recently in my comic art of Harry I’ve … made him sort of a pug… Body too small, limbs too short, head and eyes too big, etc. so this study really helped me straighten his facial proportions
